it's cool for books to be in a specific cultural vernacular, I think that's awesome; however I don't think it was awesome that they made us read aloud passages from Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston in high school 💀 I'm sure companion texts exist, similar to works translated from old English, but man I just have no idea what Scots are sayin, no amount of watching Love Island UK helps me either

I’ve tried three times to get into third person books and I just can’t do it, i just can’t fully dive into the story which is a bummer! I’m dying to read divine rivals but I’m stopping myself until the second book comes out for a full binge lol
