I'm so dang lucky! Everyone in my group of people are 100% behind me. In fact, I think I made a little mistake. I told my wife that I was having issues with dairy. Now if I decide to take a spoon of cream cheese as a pick me up, I get the stink eye, or the raised eyebrow. But all of my friends and family are not only supportive but encouraging and actively interested in my journey.

I didn't have any struggles 2 years ago when I started Carnivore. Now, 60+- pounds gone, but now I find myself slipping. I'm doing the sardine fast, now, so finally see the inches coming back off. The struggles are very real, and the addiction is very strong.

The creeping back in of things is real. I think it’s so easy to become complacent in our success or to finally break down and begin missing things over time. Anyone can hang on for a certain amount of time, but eventually the reality catches up to everyone I think. If we don’t take steps to combat that and change our perspectives I think anyone will eventually lose the will power battle. I sure did.

I think that when we have symptoms of ill health and/or are overweight we have so much motivation that the changes we make are easy compared to continuing a lifestyle that makes us feel bad. Unfortunately, as we get better, old cravings, which were really always there, become more noticeable. We feel better and look better so that little demon inside our heads sounds louder because those external factors are muted. Our focus of weight loss or getting rid of disease symptoms can no longer provide the motivation it once did. We need a new focus to keep us on track, something to remind us of why we’re doing what we’re doing. And that is the hard part of our journey. It will also be different for each of us. May you all change your focus in a positive way to achieve your goals.

I don't have a local support system, all of my friends and family don't understand. I have my youtube support system that I check in with daily and that is what keeps me motivated and driven to keep fighting the good fight. Started Carnivore 8 months ago with an occasional lapse, but was able to right the ship immediately due to youtubers (like you) to give me the needed support to keep going. Down 70 lbs and looking to drop another 70 in the next year. Thanks for your support.

Thankfully my husband are in this together. My mom and her husband are doing it as well We were all keto for 5 years prior to Carnivore as well. Did really well until all the stupid keto products came out. The thing I am most fearful of is losing my husband. He had cancer 40 years ago and lost his leg. He had 6 bypasses in 2011. He had a centralized stroke that left him partially blind in one eye. He just turned 60 and feels better than he has in a long time. We both eat this way to keep him here as long as possible. Thankfully I always have someone I can talk to. It has made the last 15 months much easier.

Started carnivore 3 weeks ago. Stunningly, I am down 36lbs already. Will not weigh myself again for a month. I have planned a BLT sandwich when done my 3 month challenge. Will be using carnivore bread and the butter mayo recipe, so not a major "cheat" but I am scared of breaking my newish habits.

I do remember how supportive Chris was to you, Ash, when you were keto and he was carnivore. How he supported you and cooked keto for you while he continued to be carnivore and I thought that was so loving. We can support each other, without tearing each other apart, even when we don't agree with the different choices we each make as individuals. We all desire to feel better and get healthier. Sometimes it takes awhile to see what others have learned on their journey to better health that could help us be healthier. I say this because I struggle with wanting others to just do what I do (even though I often give in to my addictions), and I have in the past been very pushy towards others. But, I have calmed down and just learned that if I live out what I want to help others, that is the best example I can be and the best way to show others just what changing your eating lifestyle can do to help you feel better in all areas of your life. I have come off all 3 anti-depressants that my doctors put me on and I have never felt better! I just want to feel better. When the weight comes off because I continue to eat healthier and feel better, that is a bonus for me! I have a long way to go, but I am heading in the right direction, praise God! I couldn't do it without Him and His strength. When I mess up, and I do, He gets me back on track and I am so very thankful, for Him and for you both. ❤

I'm on keto to keep my blood sugar in check rather than to lose weight. The nutritionist said that at my age, my bmi was good, but I have lost about 10 lbs. I'm pleased with that,but I am more focused on other things, like reducing inflammation and autoimmune issues. I realise that it's going to take time, but those mornings when I wake up feeling really great are so worth it. Ash, I have seen the new video, and I was wonderful. You have one of those raw, heartfelt voices that are so often heard in classic country. Keep singing, and I will happily keep listening.

I’ve been in maintenance for three months and I weigh every day because I’m charting a trend and you are exactly right. My trends show that my weight, even though I change nothing in my diet, can vary within a 4 pound window. The amazing thing though is I still feel a little bit of inches still coming off. I am blessed that I haven’t struggled. Today I’ve been carnivore for 400 days. My success is do to my mindset. I came into this lifestyle with the attitude that I will not fail. Nothing can bring me down. I will succeed no matter what. One must be totally committed to healing themselves. I don’t care what anyone else thinks. All that matters is the wonderful healing that I’ve experienced. I am proof that this is the proper human diet.

I was lucky to have my husband totally on board with me doing low carb/keto/ketovore. For me, once I was over the addiction to the carbs (it took 8 weeks for me - a long time of feeling awful and sad and depressed! ) But once I was on the other side, even though from time to time I've had a bunch of carbs (extremely rare) it's never sent me back. Down 55 pounds, and feeling better than ever. I hate to think what my life could have been if I'd understood this long ago (I'm 64, started at 62.) But c'est la vie. That's how it went. I feel I'm setting myself up for a good older age, doing what I can do to avoid disease and decline. I eat few carbs, I work out, I lift weights. I'm so much happier. Love this channel and watch every video. I didn't have a specific community, but I watch 2 keto-related videos a day - one in the morning, one in the evening. I love to cook, so Chris is a hero to me. Anyway, that - I suppose - was the community for me, just watching the videos and learning more and more. xoxo Much love to Ash & Chris

I totally understand. We’re happy to be here with you. I think my first question if I were you would be “why is diet soda where I turn”. That was one of my biggest worries as well. Just not having the support. Turned out I had more than I realized and it made talking about my health issues and the things I'm doing to try and resolve them easier. Over the last month(?) or so my IBS symptoms have plummeted and went from a daily issue to maybe once a week. My acid reflux issues are a bit more entrenched apparently as my issues with it have dropped but nowhere near as much as my IBS. Regardless, it's nice to have some relief...

I just crossed my 3 year ketoversary. I've been really depressed. Despite being"fairly" on plan, I've gained 30 lbs this last year. I have no one in my personal life that is PHD. All T2D and heart issues. My why is to be able to take care of myself and not have to rely on anyone for "normal" life stuff. I'm struggling. Been very down/depressed lately. Binging on berries. Glad for youtube and everyone out there in this space.
@ChrisCookingNashville

We’re glad you’re here. I know it can be tough and feel lonely. You may look into the effect of some of the carbs in keto (like berries and any of the other plant stuff you include) as I didn’t experience my depression and anxiety symptoms going away until I went carnivore. Perhaps a reduction in carbs and plant product or when trying carnivore would assist with that for you. We’re here for you anytime. ❤️

I’m only 6 weeks into carnivore. I did two years of very low carb and lost 145 pounds but stalled out at about a year and a half. I was constantly fighting cravings for sweets. I began carnivore because of increasingly worse IBS, which is MUCH better already on carnivore. While my cravings are mostly gone, stressful days really make me crave cookies and peanut butter. I’m getting ready to go on a three-week cruise with three friends who are supportive but eat daily sweets and drink a bit of alcohol. I’m committed to stay carnivore on this trip because I truly am addicted to sugar. All of those delectable desserts worry me.

Great advice Chris. I find that when I'm most vulnerable to cheating is when I am stressed about something in my life. Whether its my kids or grand children, it is too easy to use food as a way of dealing with the stress. So, now to plan for that, so I have a plan to immediately squash that thing, as you say. You also need to remember that losing fat while adding muscle will decrease your measurements but can actually add weight. Muscle takes up less space but weighs more. What I do now is only record the lowest weight, and as long as I don’t see a consistent weight that’s more than 5 lbs more than my lowest, I don’t worry about it. If you keep your record more as a graph than simply as a number, you’ll see the downward slope when you’re in losing mode.

I have been doing keto for about 6 weeks now. I did adkins back in the early 2000’s. Doing adkins, I had resigned myself to “this is my new life, and I’m happy with my choice” this time around, I am going through the motions, but I almost feel like I have to do this. And honestly, I’m rebellious, I think and sometimes I’m angry. Although, I am a great cook and have a ton of options of things to eat. I haven’t eaten crackers in a year before starting this, but now that I can’t eat crackers, I’m mad about it. It’s totally mental and likely stems from food insecurity as a kid. But honestly I didn’t give it any real thought until you guys sat me down to have a talk. So, thank you for that! Lol

It's a daily way of eating to us, not a diet. I am lucky to have a wonderful, encouraging husband. He did remove all the food that were not animal based. We started as an elimination and it saved us. We feel better, all positive....well except the purging and flu like in beginning. Now 6 months later, we have so much more knowledge of what the standard diet has done to us. So thank you for sharing your meals. For me, PBJ and Cake is a weakness. One month I had Peanutbutter because we had grandkids over and I felt I could have, it's my comfort food, (one week). Ok no, I was inflamed and could not make a fist without pain. It took 1 1/2 weeks to recover. The only food, that we have not found to replace is Chinese Food, Orange Chicken. ..yum. My trick now is I crave the food, but I can literally taste it in my head, and remember how it hurts me, I say nope...🎉

My struggle is with friends and family thinking it’s not a big deal to “eat whatever “ when they offer it up. It’s more like they take it personally that you aren’t taking food they are offering. Somehow it hurts their feelings in someway. I hear “you deserve “ to have this sweet treat- when I’m thinking I deserve to be healthy. My other struggle is at work. My work environment is a high carb/ sugar additive group. Every day there are bagels or doughnuts, ice cream, cakes, pizza etc. I really don’t crave these anymore, but the constant environment of unhealthy food is insane. Smelling bagels cooking in toaster is a struggle sometimes. Employers believe they are helping the staff through stress and being short staffed by supplying “comfort” food to show they care- good intentions but not helping anyone. More recently my office has been moved out of the main area, so now I don’t see or smell all this food constantly, so that helps. I guess it’s making me stronger and more dedicated to health , when I see so many addicted to the SAD and unhealthy. Many of my coworkers are young and haven’t seen the long term effects , but I’m in my 60s and my body is not as forgiving as it was in my 20s. I am dedicated to my health and wellbeing , but it would be nice not to have it in my face everyday at work.

I understand. So many people don’t realize what it’s doing and they don’t understand the perspective. Even if they mean well sometimes the hardest critics are those closest to us because they just don’t get it. I know that’s hard but I’m glad you’re sticking it out and glad you’re here to share with the community your journey. We can all help each other stay strong in these things. ❤️

For the most part I have support, however there are some who are showing concern with my weight loss. The constant push of even “vegetables” of healthy filler foods, thinking and being concerned that I’m not being healthy. I just need to remember to not eat what essentially for my body is “poison” because of the violent reaction I have. I don’t have the breakthrough migraines or pain and inflammation when I eat carnivore. I need to keep from letting others “opinions” affect what I put in my body. Thank you so much for these reminders, I don’t need any validation from anyone aside from how I feel!

Great inspirational video! It's a daily struggle, for real! My husband had a really big Carnivore win when he went to his annual endocrinologist visit to see if his thyroid meds were still appropriate. They noticed his significant weight loss, and his blood pressure was perfect 120/80. His blood work reviewed with Dr. was also better than it's ever been despite only having half his thyroid and missing some morning doses of his ND thyroid med. Dr said keeep doing what your doing. Amazing results 👏 👌 🙌!! I agree with everything you said in this video. A couple weeks ago I made a modified Mole enchilada recipe (my husband is half Mexican)using bone broth and butter for the sauce and a carnivore crepelike tortilla that was delicious. Keep the recipes coming because we just need them sometimes!

The struggle is real. Even though I have only been doing this a short time, (May Challenge) continuing in June even though we are not home! My family lives in Minnesota and we are visiting June-August. So we are living in a mini hotel room with a makeshift kitchen so of course we are eating out or at family gatherings soooooooo it is a very hard thing. Include in that graduations happening with open houses where you are not in control. So far I have offset by eating before we go and just sticking or doing Ketovore instead of carnivore but I am struggling!

Family gatherings are the biggest external challenge. There’s one (who has always been fit and athletic) who thinks a little candy can’t hurt and is pushy and judgmental. My biggest internal struggle is not loosing weight. I think my body composition is changing ever so slightly, but it’s a grind. At this point I’m mostly focusing on keeping inflammation down, but it would be nice to see more obvious progress. I guess it’s due to an unhealthy need for validation.
@ChrisCookingNashville

I understand. We all want to see it in the ways we’ve been conditioned to recognize as progress. But so many things are happening inside that mean so much more than just weight loss. It’s hard to remember that though when the world around you just wants to judge your looks or your waist size.

I've been carnivore/keto since January. Recently find myself with cheats here and there (seemed like 3 weekends in a row, no big blowouts, but still setting myself back). Also had zero success in motivating myself to exercise. I have a friend struggling with her diet as well. Proposed to her that we make a diet/exercise pact. We've started small where we have committed to 20 minutes of exercise 5 days a week. The focus is on consistency versus intensity at this time. For every time we work out (even a brisk walk), we give ourselves $2 so that we can earn up to $10/week. No bonuses for working out more than 5 times a week, no double workouts to make up for an extra day off (again, focus is on consistency). In addition, if we stray from our diet tenants then we deduct $5 from our total for each cheat. We check in with each other daily when we've done our exercise. Knowing that I have to own up to her if I miss my 5 times is a deterrent from skipping. Also, I don't want to set a bad example to her. And when pondering a cheat, the idea that I have to 1. Fess up to her and 2. Take $5 off my balance are both extra deterrence from cheating. We're only a week and a half in, but we both agree that this has kept us on the wagon and kept us moving.

This is a time of year where there has been a lot of birthdays anniversaries celebrations and of course the hot weather these are times when I really miss cold ice cream so if you can create an amazing carnivore ice cream that would be a merciful lifeboat for me right now. I've actually had regular ice cream a couple times this month and I just don't want to do that to myself anymore. I don't want to totally undo all the good that I've done in my body and emotionally right now I need ice cream. I just need to eat the right kind of ice cream something that's purely carnivore that's got all the protein and it's got the healthy fat It doesn't have to have fancy fruit flavors or anything it just needs to be cold hard ice cream.

I know I’m carb addicted, unfortunately my family doesn’t get what that means, and since I don’t live by myself because of disability I can’t have total control what comes in the house, I had joined dr ken Berry’s community until food prices went up and had to choose paying for support or to put it towards meat which is my main food. I love my dog Bosley who’s 13 and a big dog half German Shepherd half red haired hound and was struggling with a bad back, bad right hip and of course stressing me out, unfortunately dealing with trigger foods sometimes at home, sometimes at Wednesday night Bible study where they have trigger food snacks, which means sometimes was easier to buy when alone to give in to quite the cravings the nights before. Thankfully Bosley has been doing better as of late medicine seems to be working for him, still when alone I tend to struggle, because Bosley also has extreme separation anxiety when I leave the house even if an hour, let alone have vacation for days, so its been close to 3 years since going on a true vacation, I’ve been using Golf as a mini vacation and really helps to get away from busy thinking, for a mental break, still trying to find something to have that same mental break at home , I’m getting there even while preparing for a time alone as my family goes away, unfortunately it’s when I’m home alone I feel I can get away with certain foods, I also know I need to give up dairy because too much triggers joint pain. So how can I stop sabotaging myself is the question I’ve been asking, more and more each day I’ve been trying to focus on Jesus who is my Savior and planting Good Seeds, Good Words, Good Music, I write poetry by the way books found on amazon. Having more people around me that understood would help also, and know I’m not alone helps, just haven’t found that human connection that I can join consistently on a friendly budget. One day at a time

@@ChrisCookingNashville like you I like cooking for myself and use to be creative in the kitchen despite one of my disability issues which is forearm tightness while stirring no matter which arm as it happens in both though right hand dominant, my mom is usually able to help me stir. The problem with a creative side is sometimes looking for a Certain texture in taste. I feel the best when sticking closest to carnivore , just that sometimes I start craving for something example something more crunchy like a chip and something to dip, I know about the carnivore chips, also know about the cost, also know I can make my own, but then counter space issues come into play and storage when not in use. And now trying to limit dairy. Chris you’re someone that loves cooking and your carnivor. How do you tone down your texture cravings and what kind of meals on a budget could you create without dairy except butter? I think sometimes I get bored eating the same things and need to do a better job of mixing while not skimping on the animal fat
@ChrisCookingNashville

Makes total sense. I do what I can with my recipes to create new ideas for myself and Ash to play around in the kitchen. My carnivore cheezits are great for crunchy texture. I use the fried breading on my chicken fried steak or chicken tenders for that fried element. I have my carnivore sushi and carnivore rice for those kinds of dishes. And so on and so forth. If I don’t have a way to do something that I really want I try to create a carnivore recipe of it. 😊

My main detractor is my oldest son. Who has forbidden me to cook keto food when he's around. Well then -- bring your own food, because I don't HAVE nonketo food...(I want to be clear here, I *NEVER* experiment with new foods on the boys - only tried and trues AND things I think they may enjoy. AND I don't mind them saying nope, that doesn't do it for me. I'll go back to the drawing board and come up with something else!) I came home from the hospital, during which the dr said if I didn't change things I'd be dead... and literally cleared out my cupboards. He knows this as he got about a third of it. (another third to my youngest son, another third to my bestie)It does hurt though...that he doesn't care if *I* suffer, so long as I cater to his whims... I'm lucky Youngest Son supports me. Of course he's the one that had to come over and care for my animals while I occupied space at the local hospital, I guess. Anyway I'm glad to have him. I guess I'm lucky he's the only one to give me a rough time. Well him and my coworker who lectured me on getting too thin -- I was still 190 then, hardly wasting away here...*roll eyes* Kinda shut her down. lol
