@@silviaj4965 It depends on which country they’re in and what type of Gypsies they are. In Europe they still mostly live in vans and can trace their lineage back to the holocaust. In the US though they don’t have as many living in vans and most can’t even speak the traditional language.
As much as these young women have "travelled", I don't think that they have any CLUE on what a Spanish themed dress should look like!!! As much as those dresses cost, the pineapple and palm tree look like they have been made with thick poster board!

There’s a ton more to their culture than the way they dress … if you want to wear crazy stuff do it or go to music festivals or something like burning man where no one judges anyone else you would probably really enjoy yourself

@@TMS-pj7fp I think she meant the style of the dress, like how flamenco dresses have the tight fit and then frills kinda towards the bottom. i think theyre saying the way it was made with the frills only at the bottom was made to mimic that but be a little different. (Not saying that they look the same just saying that was most likely the inspo)

Not knocking Thelma’s talent - I can barely thread a needle but I feel like it’d be easier to design a ridiculously tacky, over the top dress than it would to make one that is simple yet beautifully elegant.

Thelma truly needs her own show because she ALWAYS comes through for her clients and I mean ALWAYS 💗and you can say what you want about the traveler community but the brides never seem rude or callous wish the bride nothing but the best
I’m happy for these young ladies that they stick to their traditions and culture when commissioning wedding dresses. The look on their faces is always pure happiness and pleasure upon seeing their dresses. Kudos to them that they don’t let the opinions of outsiders influence their uniqueness.

For a community that doesn't allow the boys and girls to even speak to each other unless her brother/father gives the guy permission, plus the no living together, no dating (or rather no dating without a chaperone) and not even able to kiss or hug or hold hands they do allow all their girls from 6+ to dress and dance like.... ummmm..... street walkers... it makes no sense whatsoever, like at all

I've actually met gypsie women, they would vehemently disagree. They have humble living accommodations but their husband's make a very good living. The women are taken care of as are the children. All needs met and all the women are expected to do is keep house and raise the kids to hold to tradition. American gypsie culture is more toxic than anywhere else, particularly in Romanichal bands in the midwest

But traveling you see Hawaiian tropes borrowed in economical tourist packages places around the world esp where there’s a beach involved. This is one of the few that I really liked the wedding dress and thought is was very different, in a good way. The only thing I didn’t like was the white eyeshadow. It wasn’t necessary and took away from the bride. But other than that, I would say that’s the best gypsy wedding gown I have seen so far. Congratulations!! Oh! And the cake display was lovely too. Thanks for not smashing it in each other’s face!
Thelma is an incredible artist! Her level of craftsmanship is surpassed by none! She must have a huge crew of assistance to help her , which that in itself takes mastery.

It's strange. I come from a Gypsy background and have grown up with plenty of travellers and gypsies and not one of them go 'over the top' as this. It's not that I am disrespecting the outfits but I don't ever recall them being like this :)
the video was posted 10mo ago but the series was actually back in about 2012-2013 if i recall right, none of the travellers i know would go out like that ever. they like glam but the classy way😂
I'm just wondering if their GYPSY Men make such great money why do they wear such cheap jewelry? It's as if they never change styles with the times. The cheap bling big 80's hair and dresses with old timely crinlins that are difficult to fit in vehicles. No matter the age cake on make-up and plastic cubic zirconia, bling. It looks fun until I think about not having an education and your only purpose is to clean, cook and procreate. The expensive cars must be rentals, why not invest in a better camper? They look fun to party with but to never actually have the pleasure of owning a house just to avoid contributing to society is sad.
Friendly neighborhood gypsy girl here. I think I can clear some stuff up. There are bums/trashy/uneducated people in any group and I'll let you guess what type of people reach out to be on reality TV. I can't really speak for the Irish travelers but this is how I see American gypsy communities represented all the time and it's super frustrating. I know hundreds of gypsies and I don't know very many that haven't finished school (male or female) although ALOT get homeschooled. I'm always always a bit confused as to the way people dress and act of these shows. Most gypsies are typically pretty religious and conservative (although tbh the brawling does happen regularly)I don't know anyone who would let their child/spouse dress and act the way we often see in programs. Anyways, just my quick and probably jumbled insight from a member of the community.

You say gypsy here and they think of trashy examples like these shows or they think of Esmerelda from the hunch back of notradam. They are mostly curious. I think in Europe they get alot more shit, being associated with criminals. I had a friend visit several countries in Europe and he sent me a picture of a sign in a shop that said no gypsies allowed (think it was in Ireland or England, I can't recall) I've certainly never experienced that here. So I think it's safe to say the Uk has some serious gypsy issues 😂
