The most common block I experience is NOT running out of ideas, it’s having too many ideas and getting paralyzed with indecision and overwhelm. That’s the nature of creativity and curiosity. Ideas lead to more ideas. With all these ideas, I easily get overwhelmed. When I have a number of ideas and no clear direction, it’s more likely that I will TAKE NO ACTION AND BE COMPLETELY BLOCKED. As my granny says, you can’t ride two horses with one butt. Or in my case, I want to ride a whole herd of horses running in different directions. Here's how I say NO to all the options.

*i can relate to being overwhelmed with so many ideas bouncing around in my head so quickly and in such abundance at the same time that you want to just run away and hide somewhere until the voices stop screaming at you to do SOMETHING...so there is a constant slow burn if you will of productivity on things or projects even if they are just groundwork or preparatory fiddly bits for projects buried so deeply in the dark recesses of my synapse that i'm barely even aware of them...only that some spark points at an object or pattern and says "use that, an in THIS manner"*

@@JosieLewisArt *agreed...nearly everything i do is connected to other projects even if on the fringes of each other the do share the same tonality and design ascetics so when one project fails spectacularly in original concept it can be tweaked (usually) to conform to another*

Hi. I have mastered quite a few arts & crafts as I have taught them as a volunteer. I now want to hone in more towards art because my health issues are making it harder for me to demonstrate most things creative other than art. I have always had the ability to design artwork for design purposes but now I'm looking to get training in my actual artistic ability as I would now like to make a living from it.

O my goodness! I hear myself talking! I can really drive myself nuts with all my ideas and I have a big notebook where I can put them in, including printed pictures from magazines, online workshops and pinterest. I have a million lists of priorities and things I want to focus on (read: going deeper) and there will be another million added next year, all slightly different and that’s all fine as long as I keep the red line in sight: making art sustainable and eco-friendly.
