Sam I’m really liking your videos. Been watching poker vlogs for a while and yours is refreshing. I like the honest analysis and emotions mate! Its very frustrating in Australia - very high rake in casinos, online poker is illegal and casinos don’t allow filming. Otherwise I’ve always wanted to make a satirical poker vlog filled with Australian humour 😂. Anyway, keep up the good work dude. And when you make it big, keep they down to earth attitude, people will love you for it. Peace out. Tim. Oh ps, I’m wondering you’d be comfortable sharing any poker education recommendations? I would call myself a low stakes rec that understands the game quite well at a basic level, but haven’t been able to decide which study resources/methods are best for my skill level. It’s very annoying here as online poker is illegal, it’s just impossible to build any kind of volume. Anyway, any advice would be much appreciated. Again, good luck and keep going dude!

I terribly misplayed a hand this weekend and haven't been able to stop kicking myself for it. I'm a college student grinding at 1-2, and every major hand I mess up equals at least two days of work driving a laundry truck. It's reassuring to know that even skilled players like you make mistakes and learn from them. My bankroll is currently just above $100 after this weekend, and I'm looking forward to getting to where you are.

Just want to say I’ve learned a lot from your vlogs. I’m 67 and I retired during Covid 19. I started studying Holdem while everything was shut down. I just recently decided to take off the training wheels and start playing for money. You have an excellent way of explaining your GTO and exploitative strategies. This was obviously a rough session for you. I just thought you could use an AtaBoy because your vlogs really are outstanding! Thanks for all your hard work in recording and editing these vlogs. 👊✌️

On the AThh hand at 0:53, Solver mixes calls/folds 200bb deep. Would think deeper you go, it prefers call more than fold with fewer 4 bets. As for as flop. Thoughts on just shoving? apply max pressure to AQ/KK/AA. can be balanced with this hand, AJhh, AKhh*, 87hh, 76hh, 65hh when you do shove 88/99/QQ* (*assume QQ/AKs is not jammed pre). Also would opponent 4-bet pre-flop with 9x like 98s, T9s, A9s? And also bet/call flop with A9s/T9s? River could be a jam. Unlikely he has AK. You have all the 99/88 (and some QQ). Most likely opponent would jam sets on flop. Maybe you run into KK on river. You block half AA combos. Just a thought.
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 9 месяцев назад
I have some 400bb charts and they have some 5b jams here with ATs. I really don't like these big shove lines in 3/4b pots, you really remove important parts of the other parts of your range that makes playing against you in big pots easier. QQ/AKs are calls here preflop, AKo is mixing 5b. I think his 4bs are a bit more linear than that, but not sure. River I really wanted to shove, but I think this one is a give up, it's really tough for him to not have something that can call with here, I'm honestly shocked he had JJ

I dunno Sam, these pots are so bloated pre flop, doesn't leave you much room to exert your advantage. The A10ss vs A2hh hand he had betting lead and K is better for him so he needed less protection and would go into check evaluate mode if he had showdown value, as well I think you had close to 4 to one to call and would only need 25% equity to make the call profitable

As you play more live poker you will recognize some lines are way under bluffed. The one that sticks out most to me is when the PFR checks back flop then bets turn and river. Another is the line you faced with TT especially with those sizing's. Also I think a good reg would easily go for value with AT+ there if not any Ax tbh. I know you say its 2+ bc you can have AQ with this line. I would say he doesn't need to beat 100% of your calling range nor does he know exactly what your range looks like. If I were in his shoes I would think you are likely capped at A5.

Good session. Sorry about the last hand. AThh: You are in a different city, where you haven't played all that much. You've played with this guy how many hours? How often have you seen him 4bet? And how often have you seen him invest 300bb after those 4bets? It seems a little optimistic to assume you know his range in this situation, considering you've probably seen him 4bet less than a dozen times. Then after claiming that he 4bets wide, you say that he won't have hands on the flop that a wide opener would more likely have. I seriously doubt he believes you have any of the hands that you say you could have in that spot. You don't like the turn because you say he could have a hand that on the flop you claimed he doesn't have. At the end you said that JJ should not be betting flop, but it actually bets slightly more often than range (67%). Flop raise was good in theory, but the sizing created an awkward pot size. Interesting solver side note: JhJd jams 73% on the flop against a x-raise. 88: If you are including this in your "lowest pocket pairs," that gives you 42 bluffs, just with pairs. That's a lot of bluffs. I think I'd limit it to 22 - 55. ATss: Against a BB cold 4bet, solver folds 90% and calls the other 10%. If this is a very good reg, I'd say that's the proper play. River is purely a math problem. You have to be right 31%. A good reg is probably not cold 4betting with J9s, and even AJs shouldn't be doing it very often (and it would likely bet the flop). That leaves mostly sets, which means he can't be bluffing all that often without overbluffing. Both flushes missed, so I think against a good reg, you will win often enough. Also, IMO you generally shouldn't randomize calling on the river. Again, IMO, you should determine whether you can beat any value. If you can, call 100%. (Doubtful here.) Decide if you have a bluffcatcher. (Likely here.) Determine the necessary win rate (31%). Determine if villain is likely overbluffing or underbluffing. (IMO, likely overbluffing if he is a good reg, considering the missed flush draws and the lower likelihood of villain holding nut hands mentioned above.) Then make your call/fold decision based on the above. I'd call. If river was Kc, I'd fold. TT: Solver calls 85% vs HJ raise and 2 calls. You "could" have AQ in your range on the river, but is it likely, meaning is it a large portion of your range? Doubtful. And does villain believe that it's a large portion of your range on the river after you x-call a tiny flop bet and check both turn and river? Also doubtful IMO. JJ: You really only made the one mistake and it wasn't even that big a mistake if the opponent is oblivious to bet sizing. He may just have had no clue how big it was compared to stacks. Yes, it was a bad result, but I don't fault you that much. (If he's good, he's likely not betting that much unless he miscounted stacks, and if he's not good, it could mean a hundred different things.)
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 8 месяцев назад
That JJ jam at 73% is wild, I get it though, decent equity when called, block the nuts it's a sick play. 88 is the lowest PP I cold 4 bet, I think it's getting too wild if I go any lower, and I've got board coverage with hands like 54s/67s. I was thinking maybe 33/22 belong in there, but idk.... I was really close to call, but I think randomizing vs very strong opponent's is fine, I would never do it vs a rec, but this is such a borderline hand here.

As a 4 better, shouldn’t he always c-bet quarter to 1/3 pot on the flop? Why do you say he’s exploiting himself by c-betting? Also, 300 bb deep you can 5-bet with A10 suited like 15-20 percent as per GTO. Going all-in is a bit too agro. Good content!
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 8 месяцев назад
5bet would have to be a shove, stacks are too short if I 5bet to have bluffs. This flop isn't great for the 4bettor, I have a lot more strong hands, and connectivity with this board. JJ is a middling hand here that plays nice as a check

@@BluffaloSam you are 300BB effective. I don’t see why you have to put in a massive 300 BB with A10 to win his 50-ish BB 4!. @zimuwang25
@zimuwang25 9 месяцев назад
IMO playing live 2/5 $1500 deep at Wynn needs to be more disciplined. I've watched the past few episodes playing at this stake and some of the losses (or very risky bluffs) can be avoided by simply taking better spots. e.g. in this episode, I'm surprised that you are randomizing 50% 5b shove for 300bb with ATs. That's simply insane, not continuing on turn and river is also -EV when the board is still favoring your range since IP shouldn't 4b that much 99 88 98 TJ etc. Plus IP betting JJ for 1/3 is perfectly fine, I don't think that's unorthodox at all. Maybe 1/4 is better but that's not a lot of difference Also, 4b from blinds with 88 and going ham on KKJ99 is crazy. The folding range is so narrow and you are burning money by bluffing there. So overall, I believe with some run good you will see good profitable sessions because you are playing aggressive, but against good opponents (regs at Wynn and not OMCs) you are burning your bankroll. Happy to discuss those too
@BluffaloSam
@BluffaloSam 9 месяцев назад
Ehhh, I'd rather be overly aggressive. Sometimes you gotta bluff (punt) On the turn I have to drop some bluffs, I lost a lot of value, a hand with this much equity (that also HATES) being jammed on makes a lot of sense to be able to have a hand that can check/call OOP and have some flushes/straights on x runouts

Taking 2 days off is wild. Definitely understand your mindset though especially so deep-stacked. Just completely frustrated, furious with yourself, you should know better, etc.. in spots like that, i'd just take a long walk, like as long as you need, but you should be "over it" after the walk. Like.. if your hourly is like 50$/hr. and you play 8 hours a day... taking 2 days off cost you roughly 800$. Just because you could not shake off one hand.
