one of the first (and only at this point) big, 6 layer cakes i did was after watching your channel many years ago. you said to use cake boards, but did i listen to the professional? i did not. and i watched the top of that cake slide right off in slow motion as it slowly melted in the SUMMER humidity. 😂 the next year, i remade the giant cake with chilled layers and a cake board, and my friends and i ate my vision. edible art is the best art because you can still snack on the mistakes while you learn from them! i love HTCI 💖💖💖

Happy New Year! I remember those three cakes having issues. The goopy fondant would gross me out too. I remember when you did the dollar tree cake you wanted to put caramel in there and tried to use a turkey baster and it wouldn't come out so you made several giant holes in the cake to fill it. I once made a basketball cake that started collapsing but luckily i got to redo it and it turned out amazing

I have a question regarding the Shoe box cake failure. How do you put fondant/gumpaste cakes in the fridge? I was always told they must be kept at room temp otherwise the fondant or gumpaste will go sticky?

Hi angel it's Yolanda from South Africa honestly I'm a huge fan of ur baking I did not even notice whn you made your cakes Fr mistakes because you are so good at wat you do and besides your allowed to mess up somewhere somewhere no one's perfect my dear so dnt be so hard on yrself your want things perfect but you can't do things perfectly you doing your best and trust me you are the best from all the others IV seen !!❤

Yeah the apple pie was actually apple pie filling you tried to strain the juices from. Maybe sautéed apples would have been dryer. Can’t wait to see what you do next!!!

What you said about this channel making you try things you’d never done is a perfect example of a growth mindset. When the pressure was high to get everything perfect for someone’s special day, you delivered and got it right…but you never experimented with crazy new ideas and pushed yourself out of your comfort zone. This channel made you take risks and occasionally you had a failure. But you also did amazing new things and learned stuff you couldn’t have by sticking to what you already knew how to do perfectly. It’s a tough shift to make, but learning to risk and accept failures is essential to growth.

I love this channel but please clear this up for me. A few years ago before Covid hit she made a huge deal about her making changes and her channel wouldn’t be active so I stopped watching and keeping up with her videos and channel and I looked up “how to make a Toy Story cake” and her video from four years ago came up and then I kept looking back! So I’m I’m unsure exactly what happened to her channel or if she even stopped filming or stopped filming and then came back! Just wanting to understand but I’m glad she’s posted seven days ago!!! And recently before then!

I have a trauma memory of watching the apple pie cake video. Who knows more about technical cake construction than Yolanda? I couldn’t believe what I was watching. And if her impeccable brain could let that happen, then what hope do the rest of us have?

You already fixed this one, but the half birthday cake was overbaked and then you stuck the topper in it and you could see the naked part of the cake crack 😅
