I enjoy your videos, particularly your positive, upbeat presentation: your enthusiasm for HT shines through, and it’s infectious. I’ve been on this journey some 30 years, and I’ve done the receiver/separate amp thing also, didn’t notice a difference, but amps can be keepers, and I share your goal of one day owning a Trinnov. Hope you stay well and keep making videos brother!

Thanks Mark, appreciate the kind words - and I'm hoping I do notice a difference in clarity with the 8500 going into pre-amp only mode but even If I don't the amps are always part of the plan!

Thanks mate, I am replying as I just finished racking the third amp sitting hear sweating up a storm haha! And yes, Trinnov will happen one day - amazing bit of tech! Funnily enough my other option over these amps was Parasound which I think you have from memory.

Absolutely. I ended up with a local Australian product which are my dream amps I was determined to save up for them. Took almost 2 years but now they are in. And yep they weigh 25kgs each so not too bad but still quite hefty.

Congrats! Been following long before you upgraded and know the feeling of reaching a milestone like this. I’ve been upgrading my HT for 3 years now and waiting on extremely high powered amps for my ULFE subs. I upgraded to an Altitude32 back in 2019 and had it calibrated in September of that year by Walter Forttmeuller. Raising the ceiling to 12 feet high here before the summer kicks in here in USA then will be getting the final trio of sub amps upgrades.

I feel for you man, it is hard to put out polished videos once a week and work full time. I have been thinking about doing the exact same thing, and change the format of some of my videos. I think it's more about good content vs good clean production value, obviously it's always nicer to have both, but content is the key IMO. Congrats on the amps buddy, I know this has been a long time in the making. I have a feeling you will fulfill the dream of a Trinnov ;) cheers buddy.

Thanks brother - and yes, it's not easy, and I put a lot of pressure on myself so I thought I would just record myself rather than script and do copious amounts of b-roll - the plus side is I will get better at talking to the camera freestyle if I keep trying! I don't think the actually quality sufferred too much, it's still my same camera gear, just maybe have to fine tune the audio a little.
@SpecOfTech
@SpecOfTech 2 года назад
@@BuildMontage Oh yeah, the quality is still there, because you have great camera gear.

Just remember Air out means Air in. When we turn on things like a bathroom vent, kitchen hood, whole house fan, or the ventilation your installing. All of these fans push air outside but that means the house will infiltrate that air right back in from outside via cracks, light sockets, plug outlets, doors and windows, etc. I live in Northern California were this used to really only matter during allergy season but now with the constant forest fires the outside air is so bad that rarely is this kind of venting used anymore. The best thing to use here is a single zone ductless mini split......Nice set up you got going on there.
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 2 года назад
Interesting. My main goal is to extract the hot air while bringing in cool air from the AC.
@performancebasedheatingair8006
@performancebasedheatingair8006 2 года назад
@@BuildMontage Lets say that all 3 of those fans extract 300cfm from your room. Probably 100cfm will just infiltrate right back in via electrical holes, speaker wire holes, etc. The other 200cfm will come from under the door from a room that is air-conditioned. BUT, the rest of your house were that 200cfm is coming from goes into a vacuum and it will infiltrate that 200cfm from outside as well.....It will likely work. But you want to truly understand what is happening because that 300cfm that infiltrates into your home is UNFILITERED. Meaning your bringing lots of dust into your theater room, and your home.....For example, open your bedroom window and put a fan in it blowing to outside. with your bedroom door shut put you hand/foot on the bottom were the door has a crack and you will feel all the air rushing in. WHich is what you are trying to accomplish. But then go out into the house somewhere and open a window just a crack and you'll feel all the make up air that is trying to get into the home. You see air takes the path of least resistance, so if a window is opened it will take that path, if you close it it just finds another path. Infiltration/exfiltration.....If your theater room was air tight the fan wouldn't even move air, they would just spin......Just always remember, whatever air is extracted from the house has to be made up. Some high-end performance houses use HRV/ERV systems that filter that incoming air......You can turn a fan on in a room and push air around and that does nothing. Its only when you push/suck air to outside that this issue is amplified.

Thanks Dan, so true - but people like to offer those opinions haha!! Awesome mate! Living the dream hey. I bet that sounds so good. I had my Anthem/Elecktra/krix setup properly calibrated by Scott from Digital Picture up at the Gold Coast and was such a difference! He got the volcanix bass to sound so much faster and crisp. It's hard to explain but before I was getting all the boom boom but missing out in alot of the normal bass in a movie. Well worth the money for a professional calibration for sure. Keep the awesome videos up mate 👍

Super newb here. I can’t make out what you are saying when you reference having a trinob one day.. not sure what it is?
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 2 года назад
Yes I maybe should have explained it but a Trinnov is an advanced (and very expensive!) av processor. So it doesn’t have any amps built in like a receiver so you need to have external amps like the ones I show in this video.
@TylerStout
@TylerStout 2 года назад
I'd wager the upgrade isn't from adding amps but the ability to turn off the amps in the AVR so the DACs don't have as much noise. Got to set the pre-amp mode to the right setting though to get the amplifiers to disconect.
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 2 года назад
You got it!! That's the whole point of it and why I bought the Denon 8500 back when I did because I knew one day I'd have the amps and could turn of the internal amps in the Denon - which actually tests very well. These amps are very low distortion and powerful as well so even though my mains don't need it, it's the next step in improving the experience :)
@RayHarrison1978

Thanks mate - I have it installed but will be having a deep dive now that I'm getting the amps in.
@ts6640
@ts6640 2 года назад
Not directly on-topic but I have always wished the AVR manufacturers would come up with a way for the user to use the amps in the AVR and bypass the processor (as opposed to the traditional way of putting the AVR into ‘pre-amp’ mode thus using external amplification to power the in-board processor…..in other words, the opposite of what everyone is always talking about). My Denon 8500 has plenty of power, I just wish one day I could purchase and use a separate processor (maybe one with DIRAC) with say 18 channels. That way all I would need to do is add a 5 channel separate amp (the Denon 8500 can power 13 channels at the same time)instead of having to buy enough separate amps to power all 18 channels delivered by the stand-alone processor
