I rarely put on makeup anymore because I fear that my acne will just get worse and never go away. Acne is my biggest insecurity, but hearing your story really inspired me. I'm 31 and just had the courage to accept that I have acne and I need to get rid of them, not to cover them. I wish someone helped and showed me how to do it when I was younger. Although, my acne appeared onky when I was 23-24..but still you know)) so, long story short, tale care of yourself, beautiful ❤️

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!!! I’ve been battling acne forever and the last few years it’s been severe. I’m in my mid twenties and it’s affected my self esteem so much. I stopped dating (your story with Zack resonates with me), didn’t want my close friends to see my natural skin, etc. ’m on accutane now and praying it works. You’re super brave about open up about something so personal like acne problems and share it. I think many young as “old” people have or had huge problems with acne. Also it shows that not every thing is so glamorous as it shows on insta or RU-vid where every thing has to be perfect

Thank you for sharing! I am also 27 and struggle with really bad acne. I too remember secretly putting on makeup right after showering or waking up early to put on at least a tinted moisturizer to cover scars and the redness on my face so my boyfriend or friends won’t see my real skin:/ I even went as far as to turn off the face time feature on my phone so people won’t call at a random time and catch me without makeup. I’ve never told anyone that bc I feel stupid for doing those things. I share your pain and insecurities and I’m glad I’m not alone on this rough skin journey. You are beautiful and seem very kind. Being 31 and having struggled with acne since I was 23, I can completely relate to this video, thank you for sharing! I have went on accutane for 6 months around a year and a half ago, it worked but now my acne is coming back. It's definitely not as bad but I can never fully get it under control. I have scarring and I still struggle with my confidence, I still compare myself to others with "perfect" skin. I see people for people not their skin, yet I think everyone sees my imperfections and don't see me...so silly! I'm praying that I learn to embrace who I am acne or no acne.
#LauraWhynthein Same here, from 17 until 32 still on this acne "friendship", but now I am able to love as I am, as I can't do nothing more...it was so hard when started as I lost years of my life staying in thr house and just school because of this. I was looking even worse than her...I still have days when I am sad because of this, but now I am way better with my acne, I don't use a lot of things on my skin, struggling with finding products that doesn't have a reaction on, but hey, let's enjoy the life, we have just one! I remember during my Roacuttane times I said one of my closest friend" İf you dont want to to kiss me & if u find it disgusting, I understand that" she hug me and said " U are the same person! Lifelong struggle with severe/cystic acne, Accutane, waking up before your boyfriend to apply concealer, doing any and everything to hide you face/skin. It’s not only demoralizing to live with, but it can be physically painful to have such severe breakouts, crying from the frustration of having such discomfort in your painful skin/acne. I feel you. We stare at the finished product (instagram post or ad) in awe too often, sometimes getting discouraged at how we could possibly get there, so ty for this! :) This is the content we need ESP from someone like you, in a culture where insta influencers are so integrated in our lives, and particularly in the lives of young girls, particularly now during COVID when they have more time on the interwebs. It's so easy to get swept up in what appears to be perfect (or trying to be perfect), and not enough of this! Even people who haven't struggled with acne can relate to or appreciate this on a deeper level for so many other problems we work so diligently on in silence, physical or otherwise. I watched your scenic train video first and my first thought was she is so pretty with great skin. Then 5 videos later, I stumbled upon this video and saw your acne journey. I am so happy for you that you have found your solution. I am now 40 and still have cystic acne. I’ve tried a lot of things but have not tried Acutane yet. Seeing that these chemical peels and micro needling worked for you, I’m super optimistic. Sending lots of love from the East coast.

I felt every word of this, down to the fainting and fear of needles with the monthly blood tests! I've been through 2 rounds of Accutane too, now I'm 25 and still struggle with significant pigmentation and scarring! It's a never ending struggle. It feels so good to see this talked about and normalized

"It takes time to grow into who you are" is so so sooo definitely true. Massive thank for you sharing. I've gone through acne since I was 11 or 12 and my face has only started to clear up at 24. I know it is such a vulnerable thing and it is scarier than just stating it is so sharing this kind of thing and ill never know how much courage it took to finally decide to make this public but I know so many people out there will find comfort from knowing we were are not alone and just because no one shares doesnt mean it doesn't exist. I was put on birth control in 6th grade to "help" with my acne and nothing ever worked. My mom didn't let me go on Accutane because of the horrible side effects and I am grateful she didn't let me! I have been on the search to heal my skin naturally and I have finally healed my skin just in the past year. I stopped taking bc a few months ago and was terrified that I would have a bad flare up, but I didn't 🙌🏼. I was able to clear my skin by healing my gut. I eat a whole food/plant based diet, minimal processed foods (sugary/processed junk), eat prebiotic foods, and take probiotics. I also take a zinc supplement and drink lotsss of water and tea! I am so grateful I have been able to heal my skin naturally! Thank you so much for sharing your journey, it takes a lot of courage do that! You are so right though, no one remembers your acne, they remember YOU and how you make them feel! 🙏🏼❤️

Ohh I love you for sharing this!! I saw your story on IG Reels so I looked up the video and I love your honesty! I also suffer from acne, but in a way that my skin is so dry that it only gets worse when I dry it out. For me oils were the solution, but nobody told me that until I listened to myself. Anyway, I know how terrible it is and how insecure you can feel about it. Especially to be 'naked face' around a lover. I used to run into the bathroom before he would wake up just to cover some of the worst spots haha. But you're so right that you make it worse in your head compared to how others see you. I see you as a really beautiful girl which seems to live the dream life and it is a relieve to see that it is not always what it looks like from the outside. So thank you for sharing this and help out others, including myself, to fight the battle of acne and the insecurity it comes with
I’m gonna second that statement she said about ‘the way you see yourself is not how ppl see you’ once you understand that, you’re confidence will skyrocket. One thing that I always used to say to myself when I would go out in public is that these people you’re passing by won’t remember you in the next couple of seconds. If you’re in school, the moment you graduate, no one will even remember you as the person with insecurities, they’ll remember you for what you have done for them and how you impacted their life.

I’m 25 and have the WORST acne now more than I ever did in high school. It’s hard to get out of the house without thinking everyone only sees all the red and inflammation... I hope I can get to where you are currently at in your skin journey.
I'm 35 and just started to deal with acne, and never realized how it can affect you emotionally and really affect your self esteem. Although mine is not "bad" per say I find myself having a much better understanding and appreciation for people like yourself who open up about it and who unlike me have dealt with it for years.

It's amazing that you're so honest and real about your acne. As someone who struggles with adult hormonal acne too, I completely understand the struggle of it constantly being on your mind and making you less confident. I just came across your channel a few weeks ago and this video just popped up for me to watch. Not trying to be dramatic, but I am in tears. I am also 27 years old and still struggling with acne. I am currently going through a very similar breakout as you had and it is so horrible. I have also gone on accutane twice!! I just feel like we have/are going through the same skin journey. I am currently seeing an esthetician and have done 3 rounds of microneedling and i'm currently working on Radio Frequency Microneeding, where they go even deeper to fill in scarring. I feel you. I see you. This video has truly made me feel less alone. I've never watched another youtube video that I related most to. Thank you so much for sharing. Omg literally crying Bc I thought I was the only one. I’m 25 now and I’m still battling with my acne. I have tried every product and they don’t seem to help. I stopped taking my acne meds Bc I didn’t want my body to start getting use to them. Currently using beauty counter but so fat have not seen any results. So glad I found your RU-vid page! 🤍

Hey I used to struggle with acne too, like huge cystic acne. Almost did acutane but chose not to. My skin cleared up in a few months once I switched to a 100% organic non-gmo diet. I also started eating foods that were anti inflammatory. I have cut out dairy and gluten as well. Make up also clogs your pores and the skin can’t breathe.
This is SO brave to share! I feel you so much, I've been through a very similar process, and now even when my skin is clear I still feel very insecure about it. Thank you for sharing. My acne is back because I changed my birth control 4 months ago. It's so painful and the pimples are under the skin. I had clear skin for the past 3 years and now im back to square one. I'm 24 year old and I wanna cry every time I look at myself. I've never been on meds for it but I think ill have to now.

I just arrived on your channel, thank you so much for sharing your experience. I identified with the part of friends and boyfriend to see without makeup. At the beginning of the year I traveled with a friend, was the first someone saw me waking up completely without makeup but she was great and she didn't even comment, I felt comfortable, thankfully. But I still don't feel comfortable going out without makeup.. I hope to improve this over time 💕
