Yeah definitely - I do enjoy FKM in summer, and even in winter... prior to the Artems arriving this was the only other strap type I used at all. I have a special place in my heart for fitted FKM on dive watches haha! Thanks for the comments
I am a bracelet guy too. And I generally want a watch which comes with one. I am about the end links matching the lug brushing so most watches don't make it onto my try list. However, bracelets in the summer are not as comfortable so I swap out for straps. I have tried Nato (seatbelt style), leather, and rubber. Next up will be sailcloth. NATO I wear hiking and when dressed very casually. Rubber when I plan to go in the water and leather variants for everything else. Sometimes swapping out a bracelet can change the look of a watch completely. It can even change how you perceive its proportions.
Very interesting topic. As ex-military I wish I knew about Sailcloth straps when I was in! NATO straps are just so shit and normally the sign of an Officer whose career didn't amount to much
I like bracelets bc they balance the watch head. I have one titanium diver on a hybrid sailcloth/leather from strapcode and on that it works well and very comfortable..
Yeah especially with bigger chunkier watches you do feel the weight, skin divers perhaps not so much. Neither of these two are particularly heavy but I have a few in my collection that definite would be more top heavy. Cheers for the comments 🙂👍
I happen to be a fan of elastic woven nylon straps for my lighter grab n go watches (from NDC and Long Island Watch). These do look nice and I’ll look into them further. Thanks for the heads up.
I too am a bracelet fan and also dont like Nato straps. But, I also do not like watches that exceed 200 grams so these might be a good option for heavier pieces and also pieces with see through casebacks to make it easier to view the movement. I have heard great things about Artem. I might have to give them a try. Great video. I am a big fan of your channel and enjoy each episode!
Thank you I really appreciate you watching the videos and commenting, it's so nice chatting all things watches! 🙂👍 Good point on the casebacks now you mention it, it is much easier to look in. I think these would work on heavier watches as long as you didn't have them super loose. I tend to wear straps tighter than bracelets for sure.
The couple of FKM straps I have on dive watches are really comfortable. From Ali, so inexpensive & seem decent quality. Haven’t tried sail cloth so far. Have got a couple of natos & was never 100% happy with how they wear on the wrist.
Like yourself i'm not a nato fan but more a bracelet guy and had a watch where the clasp would open especially in the shower ,tried shark mesh , leather , perlon and still didn't feel it nor wore the watch , enter the Tropics and i love it and the versatility iv'e looked at sail cloth since but yet to invest as i felt the artum was a tad rich for my requirements although very nice .
Tropics are a great shout, always seem to work great on dive style watches too. I like the one I got with the Vaer and could definitely see it as a great summer choice alongside FKM. Cheers for the comments 🙂👍
