Bro literally forgot the mammoth of them all ... the RS6 C6 V10 Biturbo. Also to mention : RS5 V8 (8500 RPM dual clutch) and the S6/S8 V10. Even they all were slower than the competition except the RS5 they had the biggest baddest engine lol, Audi went completely nuts in that era.
Had 2 e92s over 8 years. Drive a giulia qv now. Adored the e92. Will buy another to keep. Amazing engine. So precise, responsive and it pulls for ever. It will also happily do 40 mph in 7th gear. Such a range in the engine. Also the best looking m car ever in my opinion.
@MrXerxes m3 is more a nice fast spirited drive, analogue, hydraulic steering, beautiful throttle response, amazing engine etc. Very plush also. The qv is very different, much more focused on performance, crazy fast lightning quick steering chassis and general agility. Just a total weapon. Supercar like. 2 very different cars but both amazing in their own way.
Once you see the "engine of the year" and all its categories like 2 liter to 4 liter or above. It is BMW dominated in the 00's. This engine layout of V8 and V10 in the M5 is an unbeatable era.
Stop being foolish. Bmw’s 3.0 Diesels are absolutely amazing. The petrols were damn awful. The V10 is one of the greatest and literally one of the worst engines they produced. This V8 had more or less the same issues as the V10. Both were money pits and completely unreliable where as the audi Rs6 was the far far better than the m5 and mercedes v8 was easily the king of V8s in europe Before people come at me. Im a bmw guy, yes i understand if people took the extra maintenance these engines are not bad. But think about the average consumer. There’s a reason a 500bhp family sedan with a V10 is only worth between 12000-25000 today. Cos its unreliable and not worth it. Same goes for the m3
@@Silverwarhawk lol nah, thats what Americans tell people to hype their own inefficient trash engines. The biggest problem of the M5 V10 is the gearbox btw, not the engine. With maintainence, these engines take beatings all day long, why would you think you see M3 E92s every day at the ring?
@@gh0st_dem0lisher its going to have 400k km. People dont understand that high performance engines need more maintenance. And apart from plastics degrading over time and the crankshaft upgrade its not bad as people make it out to be.
You can add everyday videos with the E90/ 92/ 93 M3 and e60/ e 61 M5 and i would still not get enough from these legends... and the sound they make...❤❤❤
You can buy some cheap extension pieces for the seatbelt arms that just 3m tape on. It catches the belt every time. Or you can code out the arms as well.
Buy genuine replacements from bmw. Then fit the spacer to the seat rail on the floor. (the spacer makes the belt sit at a better angle for pick up by the extending arm) Mine works perfectly every time.
I totally agree to your gearbox opinion! When I looked for my E92 M3 I wasn´t sure what I wanted. I test drove manual and DTC, and even though I am a manual enthusiast, the DTC is the better choice. Not only because of the performance, also because the manual gearbox in all the E92 M3s i drove did not really feel precise and sporty. Furthermore this engine wants to be in the high rev range to have power, which means a lot of shifting, where the DCT makes your life a lot easier, obviously. The only scenario I´d recommend the manual is for people who rarely drive sporty or mountian roads, but rather cruise along e.g. with an E93 convertible :) I also agree with your opinion about the seats, that´s why I upgraded to the Recaro Sportster CS, a brilliant option for this car (as it came as M Performance seat OEM option)
Always wanted one of these. Nearly bought one in England to do a Euro trip in - the insurance for a foreigner was too complicated and costly. Upgrades I would consider - higher compression pistons, camshafts with the right LCA and overlap, carbon fibre tail shaft, lightweight bucket seats, titanium exhaust, semi forged or forged alloys, new speakers, adjustable front sway bar. In reality, this is a great car that doesn't need anything. Set of new speakers, upgraded Sat Nav and some good tyres are all this beast needs.
My M3 is a manual 2013 E92 with Competition Package. Timeless design and I still adore driving it every time I hop in her. I have recently ordered a manual 2024 Mustang Dark Horse with the Handling Package. Edit : I would also love to find a low km, manual E46 M3 in pristine condition.
Lovely car! Also went down from a newer performance car to E92 M3 this year. And I love it. For the seat belts assistance - just change those plastic parts for the brand new and you will get the seat belt in your hands 9 of 10 times )
Great cars will have itbs according to the no of its cylinders....love it man.... mine is 2009 model silver color ....upgraded it to 550hp ...just nice power .....
I had a nice Monte Carlo DCT for a little while and always look at these very fondly, E92 still my favourite looking car, I think I wouldn't mind another but then remember its something mental like £700 a year to tax here in the UK now. Mine also did 200 miles to a tank of fuel unless I got it on the motorway. Biggest complaint was the high overall running costs for what felt like a dumpy little engine trying to pull a really heavy car. I read that even stripped out and poly windows they still come in at 1500KG but I would love to drive one done in a 'club sport' spec with the leather removed. Sold it for a DC5 which felt like a rocket ship in comparison to the M3, so visceral.
Yeah I would like to buy one. But no way I am giving the Uk government over 700 pounds every year in order to drive a car that will probably do less than 5000 miles each year. There are lots of cars that are way more powerful and polluting, that pay much less in annual tax. The Uk car tax system is totally stupid.
No need to spend money on a new exhaust. You can easily modify the existing exhaust set up. It will then sound better than anything else on the road if you do it properly. The sound of this engine with the exhaust modification is the best thing about this car.
I just bought one too! SSII, 2008, manual and with 114k kms. I hope my slightly higher mileage will still hold its value nicely, here in Australia a lot of them are much higher mileage!

If you encounter the throttle actuator issue, Beisan system now have a solution for it (BS101). I have a 2013 E92 M3 with a DCT it's a nice car. S85/S65 engines are legendary, but for me they are a bit of a never meet your heroes cars :). E46 M3 with some minor mods is so much more fun.
Hi All, in the last 15 years I have owned the following in this area. 2000 e39 M5 FBO, 1x ESS 625 SC e92 M3 manual. E90 M3 FBO, Lexus ISF FBO ,Rs4 B7 MTM supercharged, Ml 63 2007 AMG current, e90 M3 FBO. Love them all soo much. Just need to repurchase another ISF for daily and track , ML and M3 for special occasions. Need to get an e60 M5 at some stage but Iam a bit scared. FYI, FBO in my list is all except supercharger or turbo added.
A dyno measures the power at wheels not at crank so 370 hp at wheels is easily more than 420 hp at crank. PS: 8,400 RPM for a cross plan crank V8 is outstanding as high as a flat plan crank configuration. That s impressive.
You should try an E85 Z4, they have a super short throw, feels a million times better and completely different than any other (stock) manual BMW I've driven so far.
the tapping of the throttle pedal is caused by the plastic ball and socket which is the internal part from the pedal to the sensor is simply worn away. you must replace the entire pedal as a unit to solve this problem.
I love the E92 too, very nice M3 you got there! 9:49 : mine is a LCI (2012) model but this thing doesn´t work for me either... oh and mine is not an M3, but a 335xi with complete ///M-package.
indoor air circulation. Push that ON and window hissing is reduced because there is no pressure in the cabin. Simple way. I use it when I drive standing mile with my Corvette. Problem solved!
I don't recall you testing a nice B7 RS4 V8. Would be nice to hear and see how quick it was for it's time. Although I know this E92 M3 edged it out. Was still one of Audi's great V8 engines.
