Just had mine done this morning. I was knocked out for 2 minutes while the procedure was done. I felt nothing. Woke up and went home. Feeling a little sore now, but procedure was painless. Everyone should be put out for this!

What's really sad is doctors straight up lie about the pain that's associated with bone marrow biopsies. They don't properly medicate because it takes longer and requires more staff. It's actually disgusting.

I don't understand why they don't put people into twilight sedation or something when they do this procedure. So many people say how awful it is.....

Depends on who performs the procedure. Mine was completely painless.

My doctor gave me no sedatives nor anesthesia whatsoever. She told me it would be a pinching sensation. It was horrible. I almost passed out. It's absolutely barbaric not to provide pain management for this. Now I have neuropathy and nerve pain ever since. I hope to never have one of these again.

Been 5 years since this was posted, BUT i still want to say this and hope ya read it..I keep getting phone calls ( constant calls )from My Oncologist Nurses telling me to get MY Bone Marrow Biopsy done asap, because its better to catch it early..I have already told them I will "call them "when i am ready, I am still doing research..I appreciate these" honest "RU-vid videos more than you will ever know. The Nurses keep telling me to not watch these youtube videos...Ive had ""Gastric Bypass""17 years ago and know that I absorb medications much differently than normal people without Gastric Bypass..Once injected with pain medication, I need to wait a little longer than normal people make sure pain medication will take effect "BEFORE" procedure starts..I have watched some Bone Marrow Biopsy's being performed on youtube right after they inject pain medication.. It caused so much pain for the patient..I remember 30+ years ago when I had an abortion, doctor injected pain medication and waited just 30 seconds then performed an abortion on me, it killed me with extreme pain..That was before my Gastric Bypass...It takes much longer than that for pain medication to take effect...Moving on from this. I was at my doctors office Yesterday when the nurse told me she performed a Bone Marrow Biopsy on a woman patient that was 98 years old... MY GOD!!!how insane is that...poor woman probably not going to make it much longer. My 94 year old Aunt had a pacemaker put in her heart area and died 9 days later..Im so thankful of these Honest RU-vid videos......Thanks So Much Everyone, and also for the honest COMMENTS that come with the videos people experience from their Bone Marrow Biopsy..God Bless..and Hugs..Im next' someday' until then, I am eating foods to improve my immune system...

Just had this done, it was extremely painful. I was told by everyone for a week leading up to the procedure the worst i would feel was uncomfortable from a bit of pressure, WRONG!! It felt like my bone was cracking, i was not prepared at all. Screamed, cursed, it was nuts. I told them they better get all they needed now because this shit wasn't happening again.
@amybradley5821
@amybradley5821 2 года назад
You were so misinformed. The sedation just makes you relax but doesn’t knock you out and there is no way to numb the bone so the injections are just to numb the skin and muscle. I hope you didn’t need more of these or asked to be knocked out. I will need one soon and have already told them no way u less out.

Thank you for sharing your story. I hope everything works out good for you! I had one yesterday. They didn’t give me and oral sedatives, only the local anesthesia! The most painful part was when they did the marrow aspiration! Ouch! It felt like labor contractions. I screamed a little it was a lot more painful than I expected.

Omg!!! I'm going to have a bone marrow biopsy done in 2 days on Monday. How many years experience does your Dr. have doing this procedure? My Dr. has 24 years experience. I pray that I dont have an experience like yours .God bless you for sharing. I pray healing and restoration from the top of your head to the soles of your feet and from the inside out. I ask this in the name of Jesus Amen. I'm already having anxieties. God bless you and keep you healthy. Aloha from Hawaii.🌈🌴🙏💕

My first two BMBs were very painful. Only local anaesthesia for the entry. Apparently I have particularly hard bone and I'm sure the doctor was having some sort of sadistic competition with himself to do it as quickly as possible with no consideration to the patient. When I told my Clinical Nurse Specialist she was not happy and told me that I should have had Entonox (gas and air) to dull the pain. Sedation is not generally used for BMB here in the UK because its analgesic effects are not spectacular, it just makes you not really care! Last three BMBs (and a spinal tap for intrathecal therapy) were both done with Entonox and it was most effective. Felt a bit of pressure when taking the core sample but was really quite jokey even with my husband, doctor and nurse! Word of advice, Entonox can make you very thirsty so rehydrate well afterwards. Just thought I would put this out there because a lot of these vlogs only seen to mention sedation, or short-acting GA when there is another option that works too.

@@kimbobby3046 This is exactly my point! If they give twilight sleep for scopes (they don't for sigmoidoscopies & I almost came unglued, never again!) then they'd better offer me TS for BMB! I'm very pain tolerant, been through my share x100, but they'd better give me Propofol & Verced! In this day & age it's barbaric not to, but it's all about money!! General or light anesthesia can be risky for many folks, and the whole process takes too long. They can make more money running you through the clinic faster than giving true sedation.

Why not anesthesia? What are these dr.s a bunch of sadists. General anesthesia, yeah it's a risk, but if the procedure is terrible, then someone can even go into a heartattack, with all that .

I did mine few years ago, it was painful but the worst was when they injected me with morphine, I suffered the whole night, I was delusional, I had hallucinations , I was vomiting plus the pain of after the local anesthésia , I remember that I was sharing the hospital room with a lady who was very sick, but she felt so bad for me that she start screaming in the middle of the night to get me help from tge nurses, she was enraged seeing me suffering that way, she start yelling at the nurses and asking them to help me .one of the worst experiences of my life ever.

What could be done if I’m resistant to sedative and anesthesia? I had to have some sort of test inside my cervix into the uterus and it felt like you explained. It was hell but after it as ok but that 15 minutes was traumatic. I was given Valium before and numbing and it didn’t help at all. I was screaming and saying please hurry too! So I can’t do that again. Can’t go through it. I would like to use that experience to hopefully 🤞🏻 make sure I don’t have to again. But what else can they do? Why can’t they put you to sleep under light sedation?

This is horrifying Cannot understand why the medical profession think that this is acceptable, we dont live in the dark ages, everyone should be offered to be put to sleep for this and other similar invasive proceedures if they wish to do so. I would have to insist on a " proper" anaesthetic before I agreed to this. So sorry you had to endure this its disgusting.

I wonder if it would be a 3 out of 10 if you did it without any numbing injections. I do not respond to the local anaesthetic/numbing injections so I am naturally going to be terrified. Plus my PTSD and my fear of sharp objects is going to make things far worse. I also have a heart condition and worry I will get a heart attack… :(
