Mel so happy to see you had posted this morning. I had been hoping that there wasn’t anything wrong. Hope you and your family are well. Always love the videos.
Great stuff there mate. You have such a beautiful collection and I love how diverse all your trees are. Almost a museum of species let alone they are super cool trees. Keep up the great work mate 😀
Hi Mate! Thank you so much! I have been out on making videos for a while , but I’m still watching and liking all your videos and see how your trees are all improving beautifully! I appreciate your comments and hopefully we can continue this wonderful hobby for decades! Stay safe and take care mate! Cheers!
Thank you Ben. Yeah, there was a time 2-3 years ago, I got addicted on hunting/collecting trees from local garden nurseries, every weekend my wife and I are always have a trip everywhere and I always took home average of three trees. It was cheap, but still too much. Now I don’t have space for them because as little as my backyard is, my wife and I shared it halfway. I just now realized it. You should see our master bedroom, my wife has so much houseplants, hahahaha!
Hi Claudia, thanks so much! I think there’s a time that I got so lazy doing videos. But I’m trying to get the energy back. I’m glad you liked it. Take and stay safe! I hope you got your vaccine already. My clinics says we’re next. (Seniors).
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 Hi, glad toseeyou are getting your energy back. Here we have to wait at least till June. They 'll start with medical personnal and seniors. Take care, Claudia
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 I saw this comment of one of your followers that you might be able to sale a bonsai tree and if you do what is the price and size of your sequoia and or your jacaranda tree. I don’t know if these trees are ir not for sale. Please let me know. Your trees are amazing. You do good work
Was so happy to see your name in my feed and listen to that zen intro. Thanks for coming back Mel! Lovely garden thanks for sharing. I watched the video :)
Thank you Martin, this hobby is very addicting, I start with 10 trees too, and then I can’t stop hunting and collecting. But now, it won’t fit in my yard already so I stopped. Take care and stay safe.
I, to, am from Lake Elsinore. And, like you I am into bonsai. Unlike you, I am old and ugly! I am by no means as accomplished as you. Please keep it up cause you show us what we might be able to do. Love your vidios.
Thank you Steve, I am old too, but I think nobody’s ugly in the eyes of our family. I hope to meet you after all this pandemic. Love to share our hobby. Thanks you for watching and support. Take care and stay safe
Very interesting to see you growing African sumac. I come from the area that the trees are indigenous even endemic too. We find them incredibly difficult to bonsai as they die back horribly after pruning. We very really see people attempt them as bonsai. Yet your look very good. Well done.
Thank you! They look more beautiful now as time passes. It’s true I has some die backs, but not really upsetting yet. I’ll try to make a video of them when I get the chance.
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 I thoroughly enjoyed your tour. Would love to see a summer tour. A video on your African sumac would be incredibly interesting. Here we call them Karee trees.
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 is there a platform like a wedsite, Facebook page or Instagram account, for example, that I can look at photos of these Sumacs of yours? Also are Sumacs coomonly grown in your area. You must try and understand how strange it is for us that you successfully growing these as bonsai.
Hi Liam, I’m sorry, I don’t have a Facebook or Instagram. I’m not really a social media person. I was just encourage to do RU-vid because of my trees and love watching other bonsai people for years in RU-vid. But now, I don’t have the time and drive to do videos again. But I’ll try to do videos of this trees one day. I love the Sumac tree the first time I saw them because of their bark and leaves. Looks like a true bonsai material. But lie you said it’s quite a delicate piece, so I’m really careful of pruning them, especially the timing of it because the branches can easily die. It’s looks great now because I don’t touch it yet, but pruning time, that will be a different story. So I don’t consider myself as an expert with this trees. I’m still learning. It just happen that I got them in a very good shape and form when I found them. There’s like a half mile of this tree planted in the street where I live, and they’re big trees. So the weather is perfect for me.
Hi Gregory, thank you so much! Yes, I was able to unload some. My garden is very small and me and my wife is sharing it and she’s invading my space a lot so I have to sell some.
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 I agree with you. Wife’s does it a lot. My wife is very bad that way too! Any chance to give my email to check out your Tree? Maybe this Spring you take her on vacation nd do a surprise visit to Oregon to See Mirai by Ryan Neil.maybe that could Help you? God Bless
I would love to go there. It’s been years that We planned to go to Portland Oregon. We were thinking of flying or driving, it like 14 hours road trip but it never happened, there’s always something that prevents it. Especially now with the pandemic. Are you from So. California too?
@@lakeelsinorebonsai1203 Sorry I am From Ohio , I hope you get a New Governor so you can get your life back and get the China Virus Shot. Are Governor likes to drag his Feet too. I will try to make it too see Bjorn in Nashville this Summer . Well take and Tell Wife you will do all the Driving. God bless and Be Safe. Time to Eat . I will ask one more Question for you Later
Yeah, would like to have the vaccine already, but we have to wait. We’ve been contacted by our provider, as soon as its available for us, but yeah, the governor hasn’t ordered it yet. The first responders first. A lot of people don’t like our governor, that’s a fact. That’s good for Bjorn, all the pros were out of work because they cancelled all bonsai exhibits, so they stuck doing RU-vid videos. I saw a video, in Japan they already have the kokufu exhibit. They are just wearing mask, I don’t know why it’s not allowed here. In Costco and Walmart there’s a lots of people, I don’t know what’s the difference.
People say bloodgoods are not suited for bonsai because of leaves that don't reduce well and long internodes. What has been your experience with them. Your bloodgood tree looks pretty good.
Thank you! It’s true about most of the trees. A lot of them have bigger leaves. But as they get older and you create ramifications, the branches gets smaller, the leaves reduces also. So that’s the goal. I love experimenting with different species and varieties. The bloodgood really look great with leaves. Take care, stay safe!
Hi Mark, with the vinegar and water, it’s 50/50. With lime sulfur, one tsp/1 cup of water. It doesn’t have to be accurate. Just to get rid of the moss, especially the dark color one. Yeah, just brush it with a toothbrush. Maybe after the pandemic, I can invite you to visit. Thank you!
I prune them during winter time while they are sleeping. I tried to prune early spring before, some of the trees did not respond well. Nothing fatal, but it didn’t foliage much like it used to. But of course summer pruning is always a must have.
Sure, maybe next time I record another video. Right now, I just pruned it and defoliated and narrowed the branches. They are getting so wide. So hopefully it grows at the right spot.
