So happy for Parker and Amy! If they come to Gettysburg, check out Mason Dixon Distillery for lunch/dinner! It is a great hidden gem of our town, and food is out of this world!

Also, don't forget to check out The Historic Cashtown Inn when you visit Gettysburg. The inn was a headquarters for the Confederates, while the basement was also a hospital for them during the battle. If you're really lucky, you can catch them serving breakfast the day you come. They will post on their Facebook page about breakfast.

Fredericksburg,VA is so full of history and a beautiful city. A must visit. The “Mall” which contains the Smithsonian, space museum, and in the spring there will be an abundance of cherry blossom trees. Their beauty will blow you away.

Maryland resident (right outside of DC). Def have Parker hit all the big museums- Air & Space, Natural History, American History. Def recommend going over to Northern Va (about a 20 min drive) and seeing the UDVAR Hazy Museum. Annapolis (25 mins east of DC) you'll get some of the best seafood. He needs to try to link up with some of the boys on the eastern shore of Maryland and do some snow goose hunting in February. The traffic is a nightmare. The metro rai/bus system is improving, but it's not bad. Definitely some places to stay away from, but you can get a lot of places in the DMV (DC/Metro/VA) from the train and see some cool stuff. I've lived and worked in this area my whole life. There's a lot I take for granted, but there is a ton of things to explore if you've never been here. Hope the internship goes well.

Lived in Stafford for six months while husband went to TBS for USMC. Definitely go to Gettysburg, Manassas, Appomattox, Fredericksburg. Go eat at the Globe and Laurel restaurant on old highway one. Take that drive along Potomac River. Oh! And tour George Washington home! My absolute favorite was Annapolis, MD though. Just a sweet town. Got the opportunity to go to army/navy homecoming that year with two of my husband's OCS classmates. Phenomenal campus!

Congrats Parker, this is a truly great experience I can tell, as for DC, you can get to Arlington Cemetery for the Changing of the Guard, I still need to get back up there to find my Great Uncle's cross. Annapolis has the Naval Academy, touring the White House and other historic buildings, and that's all very close. With the train, you can get further, and don't forget the museums, the Smithsonian's offerings are amazing. I almost forgot, IT IS COLD IN DC RIGHT NOW, HEAVY CLOTHES ARE A MUST!

Be sure to take a day trip to Annapolis Maryland to see the Naval Academy and Main St. Be sure to grab a bite to eat at Chicken Ruths and if time allows grab some Maryland crabs at Cantlers. Tons to do within 45 min of D.C. Enjoy!!!!!!
