It's time for the Budget Honda Civic Build to come to an end. Once a $900 Car, but now a very Clean example of an "EK" 2000 Honda Civic Coupe. In today's video, I give you a walkaround of this budget car transformation and tell you how I did it. Let's...go.
This budget honda civic build is complete...and...FOR SALE. This build series started as a competition with my friends on who could build the cleanest car for under 3 thousand dollars TOTAL. Part of the deal was not just to build a cheap car, but to sell it as well. As sad as I am to let this clean civic go, rules are rules. Finding this cheap Civic was already a win in my book, but making it clean from start to finish was a whole other challenge. BUT! Transforming a car is something I feel confident in, especially in the Honda world. I spent "roughly" $2100 in fixing this car up from top to bottom to make worthy.
To start, the car is a 2000 Honda Civic EX with a 5 Speed manual and a D16Y8 Vtec motor. A GREAT starting point for anyone new or old to cars. I feel like the 90's Hondas are truly the golden era in an affordable JDM build. With the leftover budget I had, I needed to spend my money wisely to acquire new wheels, new tires, new suspension, accessories, and paint. Mechanically the car was sound, but cosmetically the car needed some serious upgrades. the Junkyard was a huge resource in finding treasures as without that, things may have been much more expensive.
This build required a lot of DIY on the paint work, detailing, and installing of parts to keep it affordable and realistic. I've made videos on how I paint things, touched up paint, installed coilovers, wheels, and detailed everything else. Much of the stuff I applied to this civic project was what I;ve done previously to the red civic for reference. I highly recommend watching my previous videos if you want more in-depth information on the specifics. Thank you to EVERYONE that helped on this build. My friends Dane and Levi for competing with me, Jason for the helping hands, Jimmy (JW Media) for the video work, Konig/NITTO/TruHart for helping me track down this setup during a pandemic, and my wife for being patient.
