This setup is very reasonably priced. "Cheap" is an unfair term. The components I use are actually very good. The GoPro (HERO 6 Black) camera was $269! (reconditioned - eBay) I have an Amazon link below for a new camera if you can't find one on eBay. Still a great value, regardless. All the helmet mounting hardware came with my GoPro camera as a kit.
I am the most frugal (not wasteful) person on Earth and you don't need to spend a fortune to record your rides. Audio is RAW with no editing. In past videos I recorded audio on a sperate track so this is much easier and saves me time.
I have built a successful MotoVlog channel without hardly spending much money on gear. So I am living proof it can be accomplished. Some MotoVloggers spend thousands, if not ten of thousands of dollars on gear and it's simply not necessary. You can accomplish the same thing for a few hundred dollars, no joke.

The audio sounds good. I think having the "in-ride" audio definitely adds to the video as opposed to the "after-ride" commentary. Highlights of the video are definitely you cutting across your own lawn. Love that! LOL

LOL - I'm a rebel, what can I say. Too many cars in the driveway so I have to go around. These builders don't leave much surface area for two vehicles. Thanks for the encouraging words BTW. I do enjoy talking while riding 100x better. Who knew?

You're doing better. More important, you're learning. What's more is I'm learning from you. I thank you for that. I'm still debating on the content for a channel. Hobbies, recreational videos? How's you Civic coming along?

We all learn from one another and it's fun to share that knowledge. We can't take life too seriously in the process and this is what I must remind myself. Have fun with it. The Civic sits in the driveway, but it runs now. I'm proud of myself for fixing it. It's a backup vehicle when we need it. I drive it occasionally around the neighborhood to keep her loose. 🤔

I used tp play golf in the low 70’s -if it was colder I didn’t like to play. Haha, I’m not a golfer either. I find for the scooter that 55 degrees is about my lowest temp threshhold and that feels pretty chilly. 65 to 70 is a more comfortable low temp. Great audio, I liked both ways. Maybe the best thing is that you may comment on something that you see while riding that you would forget later. Happy belated birthday and cheers for a new season of riding.

Thanks Ronald! I have some testing to do yet to figure out the popping, but besides that I think I'll enjoy commentary a lot more. I'm more in the moment. It's difficult to add commentary after the fact. I was too frugal to sponge for the GoPro adapter, but since it was B-Day present...that worked out. Bring on Summer!

Besides that "popping" I experienced for a little while. It may have been cross-wind. Not 100% sure yet. Need to ride more. :)

Still clear, but you do sound different. That popping is the wind volume. I get it with or without a mic if when hits the mic. If I put a piece of electrical tape over the mic, I can hear everything and the popping stops. But the volume is lower. Yours sound pretty good. Looking good. Edit: I ride with summer gloves and summer jacket down to 50. I use hand guards to block the wind from my hands and a fleece shirt that helps with core temp.

Right on, thanks. I plan to try one of those dead cats or muffs on the head of the mic to see if that helps. I'm also going to get a different mic that is TRS so I don't have to use the small TRRS adapter. Less to deal with and a slimmer profile on the setup.

Yep, noticed a flat video appearance. I made no changes. So weird. Back to the drawing board! 🤔🤣

Audio sounds great!! It took me a while coordinate talking and riding at the same time LOL! Dead cat may help with occasional popping! Happy Belated Birthday! Ride Safe!

We have a cat, but it's not dead quite yet. Great idea thanks! Yes, I thought about that too, but I am wondering if that popping was due to something else like wind hitting the open ports on the GoPro. I'll figure it out eventually. LOL

Nice helmet set up to go along with Trekopolis channel, I just might start a mc channel too but I need another name.

It's a lot of fun and don't overthink a name. People don't care as long as the content is interesting. Go for it!

When you're driving slowly, it sounds decent. Not sure why the mic starts popping at higher speeds. This summer, I expect I'll get a helmet that I can mount my GoPro onto it. I wish there were a way that I could mount one mic in an area to get a solid engine recording without wind, then another mic under the helmet for commentary. I do dig how you're actually doing the commentary as you ride. Incidentally, I wondered if the heavy wind at higher speeds is enough to destabilize the mic connection into the camera. Cool ride! Also cool how you put the stickers of your channel name on your bike. Noice. :)

To record engine noise you can use a recording device mounted near the exhaust or under the seat area and use the normal GoPro with mic in helmet then sync the two in editing software. You simple honk the horn in the beginning, sync both audio tracks and dub out that horn. I used to follow a channel that did this. Hey, thanks for the comment! Appreciate it. I'll figure out the popping noise in time. 👍

Just purchase a red 150ADV will take delivery next week so I'm binge watching ADV vids, looks like nice wind screen might have buy one. The popping/static noise sound like a loose connection issue other than that you and the motor sound good.

@Trekopolis 2 года назад
Woop! Hey, thanks. Congrats on the purchase. You'll enjoy it. Lots of options for the ADV so take your time and ride it a little while before you jump on a lot of accessories. The windscreen is a little better at lower speeds, but not a huge difference. But I don't regret it either. Anyway, enjoy and keep me posted on your journey!

Does anyone know what might be causing that popping noise when I go at higher speeds? I think I might know, but just getting some feedback! Thanks! UPDATE: I also realized the Mic I'm using has a TRRS end on it so that's why I have to use the little TRS adapter. I'm going to buy another Mic that's a TRS, not a TRRS. You have to be careful with this when using the GoPro adapter because the adapter only works with a TRS connection end. Basically, a TRS has two (2) black rings on the end and a TRRS has three (3) rings.

I have had nothing but bad luck with the GoPro adapters. I have 2 and both of them are garbage.

I've heard similar stories, yes. I took a chance so we'll see! If I run into issues I'll probably opt for a different setup.
