Scotch 3M is awesome, been using it for a couple months now for mine and i have to fight with whatever i have mounted with it to get it off. i have 4 pieces attached to the cardboard portion of one of my poster frames and it did more damage to the cardboard than it did anything else and i was still able to use those same pieces again when i realigned the poster how i wanted. so definitely get that

You might want to take the cables and stick them to something as well just to lower the overall force of gravity on the power extension.

I use command picture hanging strips which are rated for 16 lbs I use 5 pairs (1 for desk 1 for power strip) I have a bulky power strip and it’s loaded up it was on the bottom of an IKEA desk just like yours and I literally had to pry it off when I switched desk a few months back.

Great video, thanks for sharing. I want to copy it, just wonder if the it is stable just tape the power strip at the back? Does it fall off after one or two years?

Clean the back side of the power strip and desk with rubbing alcohol first. Let it dry and then stick it on. My power strip fell a couple times, and it hasn't in ~6 months since I tried applying alcohol first!

I had this issue for quite some time, until one day i decided to go with trunking. Best decision I made. Now all my cables r hidden inside the trunking plus it's tape is much stronger than the ones I used to buy and just stick it behind each power cable etc.

I don't know if it's a good idea but I would advise you to try rubbing the button of the desk and the power strip with alcohol so that there is no dust between them and the tape.

Of course it's falling apart! I don't even need to see past the Thumbnail that you have to much weight on that Power Strip. Screw Cable Management, you need Weight management on those things.

It’s possible that the mounting tape isn’t working because of the wattage of the power strip. It’s possibly generating heat that warms the glue and makes it unstick. My strip kept un-sticking so I had to add at least 1 screw

Lol that’s exactly how my power strip looks like. I tried all sorts of double sided tapes, they all dropped down after few weeks. The only solution is to buy a new power strip that has mounting slots at the back. Just use a couple of screws to slot them in. I see your strips have slots too. My current strip is from belkin and not only they don’t have mounting slots, the back is not level. That means I cant put a full length of double sided tape at the back, only a short length on each end

Use hot glue!! I was experiencing the exact same stuff but haven't had a single fall ever since I glued the powerstrips under my desk. Hot glue is also easy to remove later on as you just have to warm it up a bit with a hairdryer for example

I have had The same problem myself with The double sided tape. It weakens when it becomes hot from The power strip and then falls off.

You needed to buy the scotch M3 tape that raided to 30 lbs and it will not fall at all I told you on the last video that you should buy it instead because I using it on my power strips and they didn't fall off for a year now

Happy to hear it! You can check out my latest cable management video “How I made my desk setup wireless”, I showed off a new method of sticking power strips and anything else to the bottom of your desk. If the Scotch tape ever fails, I’d highly recommend this new method :)

I feel like you didn't wait the 24-36 hours for the adhesive to adhere on the original set of tape, just from watching you applying the unibond stuff and leaving your powerstrip fully loaded.

My power strip constantly fell off, so I finally decided to screw it down and it was the best decision I ever made. No more playing games and my power strip smacking my foot and everything coming unplugged.

I brought the same double sided tape last week after the WOWLED LED Lights I brought for the back of my new 50 inch TV came unstuck after a day. This Unibond Tape did not even last a day before they started to fall down and dangle all over the place and I came to the conclusion that there was not any double sided tape on this planet that could stick such a thing even as light as LED Light Strips to the back of your TV without coming unstuck. Simply because all TV's generate a lot heat at the back of them. I ended up throwing the Light Strips and it's controller in the bin after all the frustration it gave me :))))))). Then the next day for some reason I glanced at a picture I had recently taken off the wall whilst I was decorating, and it came to me just what had held it there for the past couple of years. I remembered I used Command Strips. So I went shopping brought some Command Strips and got the Led Lights out the bin and Hey Presto! success and they worked a treat. The Wowled LED Light Strip and Wifi Controller cost me £13 from Amazon. I am now well chuffed with the ambient lights, but I did spend the same price if not more on tape fixing the bloody things to the back of the TV LOL.... The best thing you could ever use I suppose would have to be Super Glue apart from screws and nails. But I did not fancy using that on the back of a brand new TV :))))).

Tape won't work. I tried several brands and I ended up with screws. You can also purchase a power strip tray, screw it under the table and place everything on it. A durable solution!

ya, i have a legit gaming setup. got one of those construction type surge protectors... its like 30 plug ins. 4 ft long.. ne way. i knew it alone would get heavy to double sided tape. Then you add things to it over time, plus i have it mounted to the bottom of my desk, so plugs plug into it upwards, meaning gravity pulls it down. any way, my whole point is, the one i bought (amazon obvi) came with extremely short mounting screws, and 2 edge brackets. No problems ever. I originally used the double sided tape also before I moved. It fell multiple times. The time, and weight.. double sided tape is simply not the way

Just get some Half Round Gutter and clips from a DIY shop and mount it on the underside of your desk, then run your cables along that...That's what's I did and it's less than £10 for perfect cable management.

wow, that's a lot of cables! do you use anything wireless? my keyboard, mouse, and gamepad are all wireless and use those tiny nano/thimble size usb things. and i dont use a desk. those days are long gone. there's no point since i dont like to use tiny monitors. i run one hdmi 2.1 cable to my home theater receiver that passes through hdmi to my 82 inch QLED tv even when receiver off, and 1 usb extension to a powered 6 port usb 3.2 hub, both cables run from a open rackmount pc from the basement to my living room. the living room set up is completely silent. zero noise. the only real wire showing is literally my headphone cable from my sound blasterx g6 dac/amp. everything i need is plugged into the usb hub...my logitech unifying adapter, an asus bluetooth 5.0 adapter, wireless gamepad adapter, a sound blasterx G6, and extra ports for flash drives or future tech in case i need it. my new desk is my super soft and plush couch with a foldout tray that pulls out from the side if i need it.
