im actually here bc i have insanely itchy ears rn and i don't know why (i think i have ear eczema) and i wanted to feel kinship w some cute cats to feel better :( i hope the kitties in this video are okay now

my adult cat always itches her ears and shakes really hard trying to get whatever’s out. i’ve checked so thoroughly for ear mites, i see nothing except dirt which i clean out with cotton swabs and we’ve taken her to the vet but haven’t seen anything :( i still wonder whats going on

You can't see ear mites with the naked eye. The dirt you see can be the excrement from the ear mites. Get meds for the ear mites and keep the ears clean.

You can use baby oil and cotton swabs to clean out the ears and it kills the mites too, do it for 7 days, stop for 7 days and start for another 7 days, I done this and used some spot on over the counter mite and flea treatment too, my cats much better now, he was scratching a lot.

My cat started scratching his ear for more than two months now. He scratched it so bad that it started to bleed. We put a cone on him, so he couldn’t scratch the ear, it healed. Right after we took the cone from his neck he scratched it to blood in the same minute. I put the cone back on him for a week and it healed. When we took it off he scratched it again same minute, to blood, so we went with him to the vet. The vet looked, checked and said that this should be a food allergy since there’s nothing in his ears chat can cause such a bad itch. So we changed his food put the cone back on him for 2 weeks. Everything healed but, when we took the cone off he scratched it again 😩. Now we don’t know what to do??? I put Neil cover on the paws but he was able to take them off and again all ear in blood. I am desperate. The vet said she doesn’t recommend steroids since they may cause diabetes in cats so I guess the only thing we may do now is cyclosporine. At the moment I put a bandage on his paw so he can’t scratch. He’s very unhappy, but I don’t know what that else I can do.🥲

Hello! You are not alone! My cat has the same issue and the vet couldnt tell me whats wrong. Hes been wearing the cone for a month now. Its very sad, because he looks depressed wearing the cone. I cant take the cone off because otherwise he will scratch until he starts bleeding behind his ear. Please let me know if you found a solution 👍

Help I have the same problem with my cat. He’s been scratching his ears like crazy last 3 years. Took him to vet multiple times and they tested him fir every disease, mites, etc and vet said it was an allergy so I change him to homemade organic food .. tried multiple different meats and high end cat foods and still scratches his ear like crazy so I have to use a soft cone on his head all the time. Occasionally I take it off for a few days adv then he scratches like crazy again and his ears look awful and get crusty/form scabs. I’m all out of options 🙁

@@David-iz3ni I am so sorry to hear that. I still hadn’t find any solutions for it. After trying different kinds of medication from allergies and antiallergic food, nothing helped so now we just keep alternating the cone off and back on. After taking it off he gets happy and starts growing himself but after a while starts scratching it again, when it’s getting really bad will put the cone back on for a week, so it heals and then we cut his nails and take it off for a while again. The vet came up with a suggestion that it might be a kind of animal OCD, which might have been induced by a stress he might have suffered. I kept thinking what kind of stress could it have been and the only thing I remembered is that he was once left alone at home for two days and when we came back, he was really depressed. Probably that was the stress which caused it. I am still not sure if this can be treated. I never hear the antidepressants for cats. However, he looks very happy, playful, he’s eating well, sleeping well except the fact that he is scratching his ear there are no concerns.

@@derekhaynes4311 Same here we are in the same situation like you except the fact that we didn’t do it for three years, but just for one. We tried all the meditations and different diet but nothing helps, so we just stopped giving any special medication or special foods since it is so expensive and doesn’t help anyway. We do the same like you, take the cone off for a while and then putting it back just to keep it heeled for a while. Please let us know in case you find what is the problem and we will let you know if we find out anything. The last suggestion our vet gave us was that this is might be an obsessive compulsive disorder caused by a stress which our cat could have had. I’m not sure if there are meditations for this kind of problems in animals, but maybe they just need more attention, more play time and more love to forget about this.?

I am so relieved to see that other people have this issue as well (but also I'm sorry your cat is going through that). My cat has a persistent ear scratching problem. She tested negative for ear mites so it's not that. Her vet put her on an antifungal and that worked for a while but the itching to the point of bleeding came back after a few weeks. We can't do elimination diet because she is such a picky eater. She seems so sad and annoyed and she can't get proper sleep because she keeps waking up to scratch. I feel so lost on what to do. The most we can do is keep her claws trimmed to minimize the damage.

My cat has no mite. Because lives all of his life in a 7 floor. No scratching . But left ear from the outside is loosing all hair and it's not red and the skin looks normal. Any help would be appreciated here. Thanks

My cat was losing her hair and we gave the cat flea treatment on the back of the neck liquid dose and she held up I'm guessing it was some kind of mites

One of my cats scratched her ears excessively. The vet diagnosed an allergic reaction and treated with a long acting steroid shot and a cream. Problem solved. No problems since.

My cat martini had the same thing. Randomly at around age 6 or 7 she started licking all of the fur off her belly, she's a very fluffy cat and she would lick it bald. Then 3-5 years later she just stopped doing it. The vet found nothing wrong with her, and I never really switched up her food or environment or anything. Could be stress or something that I could not detect, we live in an apartment so maybe it was a neighbor doing something. No idea!

Have you tried getting her shaved down? Maybe she's just annoyed by all the hair. Our cat seems happier with a "lion cut" even though he's adorable as a full floof

We took our cat to the vet thinking he had ear mites, but he didn't see any and said his ears looked dry. What do we do for dry ears, so they won't itch so much?

Same here. Does your cat have dandruff? I've got a Russian Blue he's always had dry skin, but other than that healthy 3 year old! I hope that's the reason his ears bother him.

symptoms of mites in cat's ears could include: strong odor in the ears inflammation and redness of the ear(s) hair loss around the ears skin problems and scabs around the ears persistently shaking their head

I cleaned my kittens ear because it was emitting a bad smell when i cleaned it the ear got a wet earwax like is this a ear infection?

Maybe he has an infection. Take him to the vet.

The scratching could indicate an allergic reaction. To what isn't too important. The vet can give her a shot to control the reaction about once q month or less often. It shouldn't cost much.

My cat keeps taking his paw and getting it wet and then puts it in his ear and diggs and screems well let me rephrase that he's not my cat he was a bandit last Summer and I didn't want No animals cuz i can't afford them but I felt so sorry for him being out in the cold all winter in the snow that my heart said don't do that so I let my heart get the best of me and I felt so sorry for him I took him in and I buy wet cat food for him And dry and I can't even afford that I have to Skip Bills to do that I wish people would quit dropping animals off for soft hearted people like me to can't afford them but I do have a bigger heart than they do I will feed one I tried to give it the attention it needs cuz I don't believe in no animal going to the part where it's starving and losing a lot of weight to it's death can anybody give me some ideals how to treat this infection ear the vet is out I cannot afford the vet I've been trying to find somebody that can take him the can afford to take him to the vet but that hasn't happened yet either so I'm just trying to do the best I can
