I took my CELTA course in NYC in 2018 and I 100% agree with everything you said. Another point worth mentioning is how each TP is graded - to standard / above standard. If you're a perfectionist such as I am, you will be aiming for an Above Standard TP ✨
@@EveHemingway I got three above standard and the rest all to standard and in the end, you guessed it: pass. I honestly haven't met anyone who got pass B or superior. I was so sure I was gonna get a pass B though...
Totally agree about the gradin system! We’re all still awaiting our results but have been told we all passed. In saying that, there were some whom I’d thought were borderline pass, and others who were better, so if we all get a standard pass, it won’t reflect the discrepancies within our group, just the standards that Cambridge upholds for everyone.
Thank you very much, this video has motivated me more to apply for the CELTA certificate, I do really believe that is worthy despite the fact that is expensive in my country, I am really motivated to work on it
Thanks for the video, I stumbled across it. I am heading into Weekend 1 of my CELTA and first assignment! The looming teaching plan for next week haunting my weekend :D Glad to hear they get a little easier with time. I did hear that in Latin America, CELTA is almost a pre-requisite for teaching jobs these days. Anyway, thanks!
So now that you've finished your Celta, you realised that lesson planning doesn't get easier with time. They ask you to include more and more things in it, and you become more demanding with your own plan. I hope you did well and enjoyed it.
The CELTA was fantastic experience and I was teaching on day 4 to real, actual students in Turkey! It feels like passing a driving test, you won't use everything but good to know the rules of the road. I am moving to Madrid soon to teach, it gave me real confidence in the interview.
I hope you've already managed to enroll in the Celta course. If not: English is my second language so after years of studying grammar, I didn't have to prepare for the interview. However, if you still think you need to brush your grammar knowledge, grab an advanced level Student's grammar book and look through it. Remember, the grammar questions in the interview are quite basic because as a teacher you'll always have grammar books at your fingertips, and it's extremely important that you plan your lessons in advance including that part of the grammar that even native speakers are not familiar with.
My question is I'm more interested in teaching teenagers, is CELTA the right thing for me? Are there other programs to do that are more suitable for what I want? Thank you
Hahaha yes born and bread Yorkshire! I think it might differ from centre to centre as they choose their own books and pages. We used the new english file books. The elementary were pretty much beginners and intermediate were probably more pre intermediate. But again, it depends on the centre and who they choose
Hi there, thanks so much for the cool video. I just returned home from teaching ESL in Thailand for a year, and I'd really like to teach long term. Is there anything I should read (a book, a blog, etc) before beginning the CELTA application process? Maybe it'd be good to brush up on grammar categories and things like PPP? Thanks again...
Hi, thanks a lot for the video! But if a person has an official Cambridge certificate (Cambridge Advanced), does he need to pass the test of English anyway before the interview?
Hi what u recon if I wanna move overseas and teach English? I have no degree and km not a native speaker but I wanna move to Africa and teach English what's ur best idea Tks and beautiful Chanel 😍
My dream is to work in Switzerland as an English teacher for children or business adults. What certificate shall I take and is Switzerland strict on qualifications?
I've just finished online Celta course with Stafford House, based in London. I strongly recommend it. Since it's online, you'll do it from home, of course.
Hi you can take the celta without a degree but it's recommended to have one because when you try to find a job most countries want a degree above anything else
Nice video.. very Informative.. What is your ethnicity?? What is the difference between CELTA and IELTS If we wanna teach abroad should we do CELTA or IELTS or TEFL??
Could you help me ? I HV seen some websites which offer free of cost TEFL certificate, is it valuable to get from these websites? And could u suggest should I go for tefl or celta as I am an IELTS tutor.
Hey! Unfortunately for job applications, these aren't really applicable for most countries. A 120hr TEFL is good to get right now compared to a CELTA as there is a high demand for teachers. A celta is good if you want to improve yourself professionally though
@@akhleshsharma1340 you can do an online TEFL as long as it's more than 120hrs and some teaching observation time. I'm afraid I can't recommend a company as I did the CELTA. One reason I did it is because there are a lot of scams for TEFLs online so it was kind of a safe option
