Yes Tim. It’s not uncommon for Mot testers to enter incorrect mileage. I’ve seen it many times. I’ve met bmw owners with 200,000 miles and a guy had a classic 6 series with 600,000 miles. Bmw cars and their engines designed to be driven. After all it’s only mileage. Your M4 will last years with oil services, filters, cared for etc.

Couple things Tim. It's possible to remap a car direct to the DME and BMW will not know. Removing secondary cats does fail MOT if the tester knows these are a modification from factory, it won't fail emissions. Most MOT garages don't know what should be there and what not e.g. OPF's

It shows on BMW Ista now bud, it’s the software BMW use…Most tunes like BM3 flag for sure..must have been decats..so weird!

@@TimWilliamsHD I was told only if you map it through ODB, doesn't show up if map directly to the DME (Like how you bench unlock)

Just a thought, but the stock downpipes could very well be gutted.. The previous owner of my 335i I used to have gutted the stock downpipes, but left the secondary cats in place.. It just about passed MOT most years, but it was a bit borderline (similar to you had a single failure due to failing the emissions test).

@@TimWilliamsHD Mine didn’t smell decatted but it did sound a little bit… spicy.. I knew for sure about it when I had a finer look through the service history and noticed buried in a receipt somewhere ‘gutting downpipes’!

I thought average annual mileage was 12k, not 6-8k?.

Down south or london specific I think 8-10 is a lot But northern parts it’s averages 12k due to nothing being within walking distance and busses never come 😂

It will 100% be the secondary cats being removed, normally a map would need doing to remove this as an error code though.

Ah I see! Yeh secondary decat won’t flag an engine light as there’s no sensors before or after them

Primary cats are monitored, secondary cats not. So no need for a tune to switch off car monitoring. An MOT tester can technically fail a car for having secondary cats removed though. Most don’t know unless it looks like Stevie Wonder has welded the bypass pipes 😂
