I was an extra for this and it was SO cool. I’ve never stopped being a fan. That was a long day shooting. We were asked to come in a dark funeral style wardrobe then they added hats and some other stuff. I was able to have the entire band sign my white undershirt when filming was done. One of my best memories
@@RH_Player He very well could have actually cried because I'm pretty sure he did have to take a couple breaks during filming because he was emotional. Also if you look at him after he turns around he looks like he was wiping his eyes.
How exactly would they make it HD? The original was this quality. They aren't going to pull a Disney and spend money and time to polish old music videos from nearly a decade ago, especially when it makes very little difference anyway.
I love how Gerard, Mikey, and Ray are all staying within a 2 feet bubble of their own space and Frank's walking around the whole freaking church playing the guitar like a madman
@@bilishguy-i know i'm so incredibly late to this comment but i believe he said when he saw the girl in the music video's shot's being done he had to go outside because he couldn't handle it ( and i think he said he cried )
See what im always amazed at is how despite how greasy and wet and messy Gerards hair is, every flip and every strand seems perfectly placed and never looks bad. How
CheerUp2 I was blessed with the same powers of grease, and frankly, I blame Italian genes. 😂😂 Or it’s just his tendency to be a fucking perfect human being. Either theory works.
re-watching this and i saw some of y'all commenting that his acting skills is superb. Gerard's expression here was so convincing bcoz he doesn't have to act at all. This song is abt his grandma, his grandma who introduced him to music. And there's this interview that they had difficulties in shooting this MV cuz Gerard couldn't stop crying for his dead grandma.
I can NOT get over how much of a good performer Gerard is 😭 He makes you feel all the emotions he’s feeling through his eyes & facial expression I can’t forget the rest of the boys their energy in this video is INSANE and just ties it all in everything about this video is perfect it hits you in the gut every time 🥺
I know everyone's said it but Gerard is just overflowing with emotion to the point it's like I can feel it. He's so expressive and I just love when people are expressive especially in a world we live in that views emotions as weakness. I love everything about this band and this song
yo what if Gerard, Mikey, and the rest of the band are at home chilling, and then they get a notification that this video was released and everyone is just furiously clicking on it trying to know wtf is going on lmao
The awkward moment when you think that this is footage found by a fan, reposted from a fan account along time ago. But it takes you fifteen minutes to realize that this was posted on the official channel. I’ll go home. 😂❤️💀🙌😭
I'm a camera operator, and I am just LOVING these shots. Especially the one from 4:40 to 5:08- I would loved to have seen how that was shot! This entire video is incredible!!
It's 2018 and they still get new fans and they still insipre new generations of kids and make them feel good. It's not the same as when they were still a band but their music seems to be timeless. I fucking missed this
When I first saw Helena’s music video in 2006, I thought I saw the most beautiful mourning man in my life. Even in outtakes, you’d feel the emotion from Gerard’s eyes. He always made sure he’s extra. Lol
There was actually times they had to stop filiming because Gerard would break out crying because of his grandmother, the person he wrote the song about
emo alien nah I'm jk but I WAS 4 LIKE WUT I'm 12 now😂 and people think that girls my age always listen to that shitty ass Post Malone WHICH I DON'T 😂😂😂
I tried to pay attention but I just couldn't take my eyes off of Gerard. That's why I watched all the outtakes at least 7 times to give each person enough attention but somehow Gerard always wins.
The loss of his grandma really took a toll on him; carried guilt over not spending more time with her, too. He even became suicidal during his grieving process + the recording of the album. As you can see, the filming of this music video was truly emotional for Gerard, but he said it was also very cathartic. To think, the same thing almost happened with his brother, Mikey, post-band break-up. Similarly, Gerard expressed guilt over not being more supportive of Mikey through the songs, "Brother" and "Piano Jam"--if you look up live performances of the latter, you might come across the one where it ends with him looking like he's trying to keep it together. And this was _after_ Mikey had survived his overdose; if this footage is evidence of the state Gerard was left in by the passing of his grandma, I'd hate to think the effect it would've had on him had he lost his literal soulmate.
6:47 - they all are an actual mood. Like, ray is just doing his stuff, gee's insane, mikey's just so damn done with life, and frank is... Well, he is frank.
This video & song are just an absolute masterpiece. The theatrics, the punchy, wicked, jet black and blood red color schemes, the operatic theme, the morbidly sexy, vampiric make up, the dichotomous relationship between the church setting and the anathema of damnation ambience, the exquisite choreography, the show stopping beautiful ballet dancer, Gerard's fantastically passionate facial expressions, the heartwrenching romantic lyrics, the radical musicianship of every musician, the harmony of all the instrumentals, the emotionally captivating singing and the gorgeous painstaking melody. "Palmarius" 👏 ❤
OK Guys, Listen...I am a 57 yr. old grandmother. I have your albums on my MP3 player. I go to sleep every night with my player on. No, you're not the only band on it, BUT you are one of the best bands on it! Please, can you do an old woman a favor? Just one reunion tour? Is that way too much to ask for? Many other's feel the same. We know yall went through some hard and rough times....we all have, believe me. My 2nd home is the hospital. Your music "got into us, helped us better than any pricey therapist. You made it ok for us to discuss and disgust. You romanced us way past any lust." Please come back..just once...for us! Grandma's know best...
I discovered them maybe a year ago cuz of the Black Parade kinda craze in my school. But I didnt listen to their other songs. But heck... Just last month I was going through a tough time cuz of school and I was depressed that time. I clicked on this song (Helena) and there it goes. I was too young when they were still together and since I don't have wifi before. There... Sad life
