What do others think is meant by the line "if you should say goodbye today , I 'd ask you to be true"? I am curious to hear how others interpret that particular line . Maybe I am stating the obvious , but I feel music is can be interpreted in radically different ways to individuals ,GOOD music will make one listener relate to it. but another individuals relation can be just as strong, but it might mean a completely different idea from one another. But GREAT music can make people relate exactly to what they feel in their life, and others exactly to their lives, and it is the same idea , universally. This, to me, is one of those pieces of GREAT music , that its message is not only universally related to , it is also felt complexly the same universal way. Not just a simple obvious interpretation, like Queens epic "We are the Champions", , but genuinely felt with the same intimacies , if that makes any sense.
This song will never feel old. Even the MV is so fresh, still radiating the raw emotions through screens. It's 2024 and it's still a masterpiece! It never goes out of style.
When I listen to this song, I think directly of my older sister, who has been fighting breast cancer for at least 6 years and had a stroke that almost killed her and left her with many problems on the right side of her body, as well as some problems in communication and language. Thank God she was able to regain many roles in the last two years. I was so shaken by having to consider the figure I was inspired by and admired my whole life, suffering so much that I was no longer able to visit her like I did before, I didn't even allow myself to feel things the way I used to. I love her so much, but I felt so much injustice in what happened that I keep it all to myself. I don't even show it in front of our parents. This song is an opportunity to release all the feelings I have about this situation. Thank you, MCR. Love you, sister.
