Thanks so much! I'm in grooming school. Was a bather and then appreciate and now to start my own business decided to get official. I have been soaking up as much knowledge as possible and you are one of the most clear and honest people who I have come across. I am specializing in aggressive and special needs dogs and plan on creating content so I can do grooming for free for dogs that are in need. I can only hope to come off as well as you do on camera.

Thank you so much! I have a newer review coming soon! I’d recommend the Andis Pulse ZR II and the Bravura as your first two-you can’t go wrong there. Also, never buy blades off Amazon or Temu. they’re usually fakes. I wish you the best of luck! Make sure you have an employee with you if you’re going to work with aggressive dogs or else it’s very dangerous and a liability to be alone. VindictusGoneWild1 Thank you so much! I do have a brief review up on the Chromado and I am making a review on the BravMini. I don’t have any Wahl clippers with interchangeable blades yet; but that Andis is good! It’s money well spent! Especially if you do a lot of larger dogs. If I had the opportunity I would’ve gotten the galaxy one with all the colors. But that wasn’t available when I bought mine. Thank you so much for the feedback and I am so happy that it helped you! Thanks! Excellent! I'm a home groomer. I have a 1 year old male Standard Poodle. I just order the Andis Pulse ZRII. I can't wait to try it. I have the Wahl guard combs. I had trouble clipping them on my old clipper. I do his face with 10 blade. I'm afraid to trim around his eyes. I usually take him to a groomer just for her to finish his face.

The Bonve Pet seems like one of those Chinese products where identical looking products are marketed under different names. I've got a led headlamp like that (its a good one, too!) The Hansprou clippers came to my attention as well--7000 rpm and a titanium/ceramic blade. Hansprou gets good reviews from users on Amazon. There is a cordless and a corded version for about the same price. Li ion is busting out these days and pretty fantastic.

Thank you so much for showing me how each of your favorites work. We just got a standard poodle in bad need of a trim and I'm excited to get the right tools to give him a proper poodle cut. I'm leaning toward the Bravura after watching your review. I think it will be plenty for taking care of him every few months.

I do not recommend grooming him yourself at home unless you’re a professional groomer or a trained ethical breeder! You MUST have him trained for grooming and he needs to go as soon as he has his rabies vaccine. A standard poodle MUST be professionally groomed at LEAST once a month…no less! Trust me please! A poodle has to be trained in order to have them LOVE grooming as much as they do to the dog park! It is crucial for his social and personal and health development! This video is made for professional groomers only!

One year old Havanese owner, getting ready for 1 more pup, so I will be a home groomer. I have the Bonve Clipper under the name ‘Oneisall’. Agree that it’s good for prep and touch ups but not a great full cut. Loved what the wide blade did with the Andis but wasn’t sure if I would be able to use it with the Wahl Bravura as well. Can I? I think a lot of us home groomers don’t really get the differences in blades, so a tutorial would be nice. Loved your I instruction, so I did hit that SUBSCRIBE button. Thank You!
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 3 года назад
Hi! It’s definitely time to invest in some new clippers. The Wahl Bravura should be all that you need for two Havanese as long as you do your prep work correctly. The Andis wide blade is a completely different blade than the one on the Bravura. The white blade is an interchangeable blade meaning you can take it off to put on a different length blade. The Bravura has one blade with a little toggle switch on it that allows you to change the lengths. Do you need the guard comes with that. I will definitely try to do a clearer tutorial on blades and guard combs. I do have some other clipper videos that might help; but give me about a week and I will make that video for you!

There a ton of different versions of the Bonve. We bought one labelled "Maxshop". Although it is inexpensive and very quiet, it has very little power. We have a Bernadoodle, which has very thick fur, and it is almost useless. After several frustrating grooms, we are upgrading to the Wahl KM 10.
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 3 года назад
tterrab999 Yeah, there’s no way that trimmer (or any of its recreated models) could handle your pup’s coat. Good choice with the Wahl KM 10. It is a two speed clipper. The first speed should be fine. Second speed is meant for really super dense and thick coats. ❤️

Hello there! Are the blades from petdiirect compatible with all shavers? I’m just an at home groomer and I mainly scissor my small Cavachon. But, I get so much unevenness with just scissors and her curly fur that I always wind up having to go really short. We have a Wahl for humans that the blade has dulled and I’m not sure which way to go. It would be great to just buy an additional blade. Do you prefer certain scissors? Also would the wide 10 blade fit on the Bravura?
@jillymoochgrooms

The Lupus Battle With Chronic Kidney disease. Hi! Those are all different questions about many different things! Lol. Ok, first, I highly recommended you use a professional groomer with training rather than doing it again home. Injuries are likely without training and that isn’t the goal here. Also Please rewatch the video and note that the blade on the Wahl Bravura is completely different than the interchangeable ones used on the Andis. In all likelihood your Human clipper isn’t compatible. I want you to rewatch because then you will see that the wide blade goes on an interchangeable blade clipper and the bravura has one kind of blade that is adjustable. Once you see that message me back with any questions you have. And shears are a very personal choice. They have to fit right for your hand and they come in many different forms and lengths and different shears have different uses. Education about shear use is crucial as well. :)

Clarity. I looked it up and that’s a hairstylist clipper not made for dog groomers! Get something else like the Wahl KM!!! Please don’t groom your own dogs at home if you have no training. You could cut, nick , or burn them!

When you were using the Wahl clipper to do Bella's paw pads what setting did you have? I am a new groomer and recently purchased the Wahl 5 and 1 and you're right it does tend to nick the pads. Want to try the Andis now with the wide clipper and comb looked great. Very informative tutorial thank you.

Sid H I always use a 40 on pads. Some people scissor, but if you lack confidence stick with the clipper and be slow. The top part of the blade is what nicks so just be aware of that and you’re all set! ❤️

I'm confused on which you like most. Actually I'm confused which one is which now. 2nd was wahl and 3rd was Andis, I think... I'm not even certain now. Did you like the other andis or the new ones. @@klee9016 The blue clipper is the Bravura. It comes with, actually you have to order, guard combs in order to be able to give a dog a haircut with some link. Otherwise it will just shave a dog down. The pulse is the black liver. And, at the time, Andis did not have their own metal snap on combs. So the ones in the video are wide blades and guard homes made by for zone and master cut. I do not recommend the white one. Is cheap and will not hold up for regular grooming. Does that help? I hope so!

Please do not groom your dog at home…this video is for professional groomers. There are years of education and training that go into grooming. Find yourself a well established and knowledgeable professional groomer and let you and your dog develop an incredible relationship with them. That is the best gift you can give him. You are going to turn him away from the love of grooming and that would be a travesty. You paid a lot of money for this dog so you should take him to an educated and experienced professional… You wouldn’t give yourself a root canal would you?

So, is your favorite the Andis Pulse ZR II? I got confused as the end. It has ceramic, I believe, which might account for smoother finish. I looked for the review you mentioned and couldn't find it. Also, which comb cover was that that you used at the end? The Andis that fell off or the wahl snap on? You went to fast for to tell and closed captions couldn't read what you said. BTW... The Andis Pulse is a clipper. The Wahl Bravura is a trimmer. The pulse is heavier and stronger. The blue Bravura is lightweight and good for small dogs. I like them both. I do not recommend the white trimmer it is cheap.

@@jillymoochgrooms Thank you very much! I really enjoy your videos. I'm learning a LOT! 😊 I ended up with the Wahl Motion. My TwinkleBelles is just a little tiny nibble of a Maltese and with Asian Fusion I suspect most will be scissoring. I checked the Pulse and price is rather out of my range. I wanted one but I think might be overkill for one tiny little dog. It seems the Bravura and Motion are very similar with the motion having a few features preferable. It was difficult choice. Hi Jilly, I'm looking to desensitize my 6 mos old standard poodle to grooming. He had a traumatic experience with his first groom. The groomer used a #45 on his paws, #30 on sensitive/sanitary areas for his FIRST groom. He has clipper burns on his paws(he's black by the way) and was sensitive for weeks. It's been downhill ever since. any tips or recommendations for groomers in the Baltimore or Atlanta area.

Hello, if you send me a message on Instagram I can link you to some groomers in Maryland and Atlanta. There is no such thing as a 45… However, if you got your poodles from a reputable poodle breeder they should have been shaved face and feet multiple times before sent home. Your pup should be groomed at a minimum every month by a professional groomer. They will be the ones training and developing a relationship of trust and working with you to make sure everything goes well at home. Instagram is @jillymoochgrooms and I’m happy to help

I have had both Andis and Wahls...you name it I have had it and still have a few hanging around on my wall as well. My favorite for the last couple of years was the Wahl Switchblade clippers but they are dying and parts are hard to come by. I like the cordless as I only groom a few full haircuts these days as I have cut my business to just myself as the sole groomer.....and well after 16 years I can pick and choose my clients..lol. Anyway, I do have a few doodle shave downs and haircuts from time, I groom mostly large breeds now. I like the Andis Pulse ZRII and the Wahl KM2....do you have any particular thoughts on the new 2020s. Thanks and yes...please please please, I beg of pet owners, brush and dry your dogs...but please don't experiment with your dogs unless you have had some training. wmlhhr2006 I advise that you brush and comb. I do not advise you do it yourself. It is very dangerous and you could hurt her: cut her, give her clipper burn, and much worse. I do not use clippers on the face you have to be professionally trained; please continue to brush and comb her. If you bathe her you must brush and comb her before bath and after. That is the best you can do. It is hair and it will grow back but you should not do this yourself on any level. My videos are for trained professional groomers.

Would you recommend the Bonve clipper for a Maine Coon cat who is very skittish and also has a mean temper? I only need to groom him once a year, usually in the late spring when his fur starts to mat up. I usually let my vet do it, but my vet went out of business. He'd give my cat a "lion cut" which was fine for the summer, then his fur would grow back nice and thick and smooth by time cold weather comes along. I know my vet would sedate him for the grooming. Myself, I don't mind bleeding a little bit, he's made me bleed many times over the years. LOL
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 4 года назад
Gerf OK. Please hear me when I say this. NO!!! Grooming cats is extremely dangerous. Not for you; although you will get totally ripped apart if he’s a sedation groom; but for the cat. Cat’s skin is literally tissue paper thin. If your vet went out of business then search for another vet (why wouldn’t you?) or a local cat groomer. If you’re only doing it once a year it’s not going to break your bank. Find another vet who will sedate your cat and groom it or find a groomer who is willing to groom a sedated cat. Grooming cats can kill them. They can have a heart attack and die from the stress of it. If you cut them, did you know cats don’t bleed like dogs? You can easily shave off a nipple and start a systemic infection. If you love him, find another vet who will groom him. I’m not kidding; you could literally kill your cat. Thank you for reaching out and I hope this helped even though it wasn’t what you hopef to hear.

Hi Sarah, I haven’t used it for a full groom; I also don’t recommend doing it at home. If you can wait for your groomer I’d recommend keeping up with brushing and combing. Grooming isn’t easy and requires training. You have sharp tools and a living moving target. The plastic guard combs that come with it won’t do the job properly. You could end up cutting your pup with the clippers even with the guard combs. If your pup is severely matted then please call your vet for an essential groom!

Jilly Mooch Grooms thanks so much for the reply. The problem is that many owners are stuck without options during Covid as there are absolutely no groomers open where I live. I’ve been “grooming” with blade guards on to keep her safe, which is more like a trim and of course means doing it more often, but I’d rather that than take a risk! I’m sure that’s why you’re seeing more traffic and comments the last few weeks as owners have no options. Glad you’re informing them of the very real dangers involved as a trip to emergency for cut skin is something I’ve seen among my friends already.
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 4 года назад
Treena Macdonald Thank you...and yes, brushing and combing are the two things every pet owner should be doing more than anything else. Keeping the coat maintained even though it grows is OK. But now they have cuts which could lead to infection or worse and then there’s a quite a hefty vet bill that goes with that. It’s like us growing out our roots or not getting our eyebrows done. It’s not really a health concern if the hair grows and it’s taken care of properly. Severe Matting, however, is a completely different story as it can cut circulation off to the skin and the vet is more than capable of doing a shave down for health reasons rather than having it done at home and risking injury or worse

@@colink4842 Absolutely! During the first wave of Covid lockdown, for example, I did some research and discovered that pet injuries from at home grooming rose drastically...I believe the numbers were around 72%...it takes training to groom your own dog. There is an overwhelming amount of education about pets such as science like biology, anatomy and physiology, behavioral training, working with senior pets, pets with health conditions, proper tool use and technique, handling skills, coat health and care, product choices, etc. I’ve spent thousands and thousands on tools and education. Just like you wouldn’t perform surgery without training and experience...it’s so much more difficult than people realize and, done improperly, can lead to accidents and even death.

@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 4 года назад
Hi Francesco! Unfortunately, I haven’t yet tried the Wahl KM10 or KM Cordless. My Pulse ZR II was my go to for large dogs, but it’s heavy bc of the battery. The wide blades that are all the rage make it even a bigger powerhouse and efficient tool; but I’ve seen other groomers use the KMs with the wide blades and I hope to be able to try that as well. I find myself primarily using my Chromado, to be honest, on almost every dog, the exception being the larger and thicker coated pups, when I need more power and the option of using the detachable blades. You can be sure that if I have the opportunity to try them, a review will be up! Make sure to subscribe and turn on notifications so you can see that! I will reach out to Wahl and let them know my followers would love to get some feedback on them!
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 4 года назад
Then I would recommend the Bravura or the Chromado. And, actually, the Wahl BravMini is very small and quiet but only has a 30 blade. It comes with a single “adjustable” comb but hair tends to get caught under it every time. But it would be great for paws. Also, you can desensitize using a cordless toothbrush (obviously hold the brush end in your hand) and work up to her getting used to the sound first and then move up to petting her with it slowly. Done in small sessions at a quiet time and consistently (always stop at a time when you’re getting calm feedback to maintain positive association). I would think any interchangeable blade clipper would not be what you’d want at all.

Yes, absolutely. I’d call every groomer in your area or google cat groomers near me. Many do cats and dogs, some only cats. @jillymoochgrooms 4 года назад
If your pup is a medicated groom there’s no way at all you should do it yourself. You should please please maintain brushing and combing at home until this is over. He won’t matt up if you do that. You should not groom a medicated dog without the proper training and also certification in pet first aid and CPR. Your dog is older and you could cut him or the meds could kill him if he has an adverse reaction (even if he’s taken it before). Your groomer also sounds amazing and supportive so you should call them and ask how they recommend you brush and comb until this is over. Don’t give him a haircut because just he’s shaggy...that’s not a health concern. Too many people are rushing in when the dog will be fine if you wait and do proper maintenance. Lastly...hair grows back...if someone properly trained needs to shave him when this is over it will grow back. Please call your groomer and be patient until this passes. Be safe! Be careful! Be patient! If you need to learn how to brush him I have video on that as well.

TERESITZ LEWIS There’s no shame in spoiling your pup! If he tolerates a bath, brush and comb out then absolutely wait. It sounds like you’re a great pet parent and I couldn’t ask for more from my clients other than to wait for me. It’s a big job no matter the size of the pup and, actually, his coat is how he thermaoregulates. Regular brushing and combing will ensure his body can do that by removing dead undercoat and distributing natural oils to keep his skin healthy. Dogs don’t have pores on their skin, only Hair follicles. If you take the coat off by shaving and you live in a hot environment his body heat will rise approximately 10° because the coat is missing and it can’t do it’s job to keep them cool in summer and warm in winter. There’s a lot of science involved in grooming. More than anyone realizes. So I’m very happy to hear that you’re waiting!

@jillymoochgrooms 3 года назад
Hi! My videos are for trained groomers only. If you have not had any training I do not recommend you try to groom a dog, especially a poodle, on your own In any way, shape or form. New groomers have usually gone through at least one year, minimum, of training as a bather before they are allowed to groom. You could traumatize that dog in such a way that grooming would be a nightmare for it for the rest of its life. I’m serious. Your puppy needs to be groomed by a professional starting as soon as it’s had its full round of shots. Then it needs to go every four weeks for the rest of its life. Poodles are expensive to groom, but I’m sure you did your research and knew that before you bought the puppy. If you’re not prepared to pay for professional grooming then please do not take the puppy in. I do not mean to be rude; however I have seen disasters come from people who think that they can do it themselves. If you are not an experienced, trained, qualified groomer then you should not even attempt it. There is physiology, biology, and anatomy that must be learned. There is science in hair and skin you must learn. I will not recommend a clipper to you. Do not get the dog unless you can afford a groomer every four weeks for the rest of its life. I apologize for my blunt manner of speech but not for the message I convey.

Thank you for this video! Please help determine what I need to groom my Havenese. I keep rewinding and watching the lsst part to identify what I need, but am confused. My baby loves and is missing his little manly spa days with our groomer, which we will continue once this quarantine is lifted! But in meantime, his hair grows fast and if I don't get on top of it now, it will get matted. Scissor cutting will take too long. In meantime I need to purchase a cordless clipper that will help me keep him trimmed in meantime. What do I need? For sure, I want that wide blade setup and the model clipper its compatible with. And a few amaller blades and guards for pads and sanitary. Need help with what items to purchase without getting a lot of items i dont need. I already have bo derek shampoo and a few slickers, but probably get a different brush too. Specifically What clipper model, size wide and short snap on comb mastercraft thingees, will help me groom him in meantine??? The store is confusing to find only what items I need for this. Help, Please and Thank you!!!!! Or if you want to discuss over phone, I can call you?

The Bonve and Bravura have one Speed, and the Andis has 5 speeds! The Bravura has 5 blade lengths in one; I usually use the 40 setting under guard combs and for prep work. The Bonve was a 40 blade (don’t recommend that clipper now). I use a 30 blade under guard combs for the Andis Pulse. You can use a 10 as well. For prep without guards I use a 40

How come u groom with the flow of hair instead of against it? Wouldn’t it be better to go against the angle of the hair?
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms Год назад
No, it will cut it two lengths shorter than what you want if you go against the way the hair naturally grows; it can make it uneven, and can damage the hair follicles depending on the coat type. Never shave a dog with a shedding coat (double coat or heavy coat); it keeps them cool in summer and warm in winter and it may not ever grow back. Always go with the direction the hair grows to be safe, and to get an even haircut.

@jillymoochgrooms Год назад
@@indo3052 Respectfully, please, Noooo! They’re smooth coated dogs and there’s really no point any way because they’re so short already. Their top coat actually reflects the UV rays from the sun; the undercoat is what keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer. If you shave them, they will still shed, but they will only shed splinters, and you can damage the hair shaft permanently, even if it’s grown back before, it may not grow back this time or the next time. It’s really not doing you any favors and it’s definitely not healthy for your dogs. Here’s what I recommend you use to help with shedding, to keep their coat healthy, get rid of dander, and distribute the natural oils on their skin to keep them healthy and shiny (and keep shedding at bay-do this about once a week)-brush them will this: www.amazon.com/shop/jillymoochgrooms/list/UQN2GDWPDKWU?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m

I’m sorry but I don’t provide professional public advice for pet parents. Grooming is dangerous and expensive because we are highly trained and require dogs to be on a strick schedule to provide optimal health care for your pet. That is a very difficult coat to maintain. I am happy to offer you lessons via zoom; but I won’t give advice on a public forum. It’s too dangerous. Please let me know; I train pet parents all the time. Thank you!

@@vonsboy Be very careful; you can seriously hurt your dog in many ways if you don’t have the knowledge. You have absolutely no idea what goes into dog grooming. Plus, you have a breed that needs to be trained for grooming, like all dogs; however, the OES need to learn how to behave properly in a professional grooming environment. I strongly urge you to reconsider and arrange your budget to fit the type of dog you chose to buy and take care of. Dogs are like children, they cannot take care of themselves. They rely on you for food water and appropriate care. You wouldn’t deny your child a doctor would you? Then why would you deny an animal that MUST be groomed once a month minimum a professional grooming? It’s exactly the same thing. If you can’t afford the dog perhaps it’s time to rehome it. Best of luck to your doggo.

if you cannot change the blade it is not made for a professional. You go thru 30 grooms and the blade will be dead. This also means the clipper is dead. For home grooming this clipper should last several years professionally perhaps a month if you were lucky
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 3 года назад
Steve Pailet Like I said, it wouldn’t make it. I have another review coming out. They’re trying to improve it and you can change the blade for another 5-in-1 blade but the clipper is approximately 12.00 and I couldn’t find a new blade online. They’re meant to be disposable and I don’t stand behind junk.

The guts of most of these small clippers is a dc motor and a switch. The andis is ok but they have the same problem (design choice) You can indeed take off the blade and replace it. Do not plan on getting it sharpened the blades at this point are 100% disposable No parts available to a sharpener. They are much more complicated than the Wahl 5/1 blades which now have parts so can completely be resharpened. The andis run in about the same price for a blade as the wahl, if you are using it as a disposable
@jillymoochgrooms
@jillymoochgrooms 3 года назад
Steve Pailet The Wahl is not disposable in any way. Neither is that Andis! Those Andis blades are, Indeed, able to be resharpened (and my Pulse is still going strong). So are the Wahl 5-in-1s butIt doesn’t last long like the interchangeable blades. That Bonve clipper is NOT strong nor made for professionals. Thank you for your feedback.

@@jillymoochgrooms At least 50% of the shops I sharpen for use some sort of wahl clipper bravara or arco for finish work. As few sharpeners resharpen the 5/1 ( I do resharpen them) The only choice for many of these groomers was just to purchase new. For a long time Wahl just said the blades were disposable and that was true. If you look at the blades and teeth on the cutters they are tiny tiny and the cutter is thin and flexible .. Add to this that you are hard pressed to find people who actually oil their blades. Between the two things .. The blades go dull fairly fast. I am now seeing a lot of babyliss tools . they are also disposable. they inject mold plastic into the blades for the drives. so similar to the bonve

Steve Pailet Yes I actually worked with Wahl on the problem of those 5-in-1 blades and they worked hard to make a better product. I know what you mean about lack of proper care. They can go along way when they are cared for correctly. And many other companies are also trying to follow suit because of the crazy rush to buy clippers during the pandemic.BUt...like you said, They are not putting out the same quality product.
