Thank you for a great review and a nice honest opinion on the different clippers! I'm getting one to groom my senior dog since he needs help keeping the heat off him now that it's so much hotter outside. You've sold me on the Wahl KM10, also the fact that there is one less piece of machinery in there that can break is never a negative aspect! Thank you again and take care!

I agree, I love my Wahl km10. I use the Wahl Brauvera for sani and pads. I've been told they are good for rounding heads with the attachment guard combs. I plan to get them and try it out. Thank you. The video was helpful. Also, a guy who fixes the clippers said ideally one should never go higher than speed 3 on the Andis for the same reasons you said they get to hot, blade included.

Thank you .. wish I had seen this before I just bought my second pair of Andis 2-Speed - although mine are a LOT noisier than yours, the first pair have worked on my 4 dogs for over 3 years with no trouble or issues at all; I only bought the second pair so I don't have to keep changing blades between my Maltese and Australian Cobberdogs. Having said that, if I'd found your very helpful review beforehand I would've saved up for the Heiniger instead. Never mind .. they're now on my "wish list" for Christmas :)

Anyone looking to buy the cordless Andis Pulse zr2's, I've had the switch mechanism warrantied twice, replacing the old switch with a newer version that doesnt flex as much, still have intermittent power on/off issues from the switch. I even open it weekly and retorque down the motherboard to get the switch button closer to the switch. Tired of it. Happens on both Pulse's that I own. Stay away, theyre a headache. And loud. Thank you for the great helpful video and info Does the KM10 get hot when you are using them for a while? Is it general that these unit get really hot when you use them? The Wahl DELUXE U-CLIP that I am using that I bought from Petco get so hot I can't hold them towards the end.
@cleanclipcolor
@cleanclipcolor 2 года назад
I have never had an issue with the KM10s themselves getting hot, I always use on the slower speed though. On the higher speed, I could see them possibly getting hotter? I doubt too hot to hold though. Now the Andis Excel 5 speeds I have, that was one of my HUGE complaints with them is the clippers would get hot in my hand. Blades can/will always get hot if taking too long/not oiling well. Best to have multiple blades and be sure to oil them daily. Cooling sprays do more harm then good, swap out blades when hot and oil them and your blades will last much longer.

Which slicker brush do you prefer and what is difference in 7 and 7f blades usage? Thanks. Enjoyed your clipper reviews.
@cleanclipcolor
@cleanclipcolor 2 года назад
Hello! I've been using Artero's double sided flexible slicker and their long pin slicker brush for a few years now. I've been VERY happy with them! Durable, dogs seem to like it and they do a great job. So a regular 7 blade, the comb is missing half the teeth, meaning there is more of a gap between each tooth. This makes the blade more dangerous because more space for skin to accidentally get in and cut. Also since it only has half the teeth, it doesn't give as smooth of a cut. The F or FC stands for finish/finish cut, meaning that blade is NOT missing teeth and will give a smoother FINISHING cut.

Hi, great movie, I have almost made my choice between Andis AGC2 and Wahl KM10 and I want to ask which one is "getting hot" quicker?
@cleanclipcolor
@cleanclipcolor 3 года назад
If using the slower speed, its honestly about the same. If blades are getting hot quickly, you need to oil them, and I mean actual blade oil not "cool lube" or a similar cooling spray. The cooling sprays, while yes they do cool the blade off, actually dry out the metal and cause it to heat back up faster. Only time I use the sprays is to disinfect and then I follow up with oil. A well oiled blade being used on a clean prepped coat should stay cool a good 15-25min as long as you're using the slower speed. When you use the faster speed, metal is moving faster, creating more friction, creating more heat.

@cleanclipcolor
@cleanclipcolor Год назад
Hey there! It really depends on if you're wanting to spend the extra $$ on cordless or not. The KM10s are still my favorite corded clipper and come at an amazing price for what you get. I really enjoy having cordless now though so I use my Heinigers. I've switched over to using artero blades, I have prob 10 of each blade because I'm OCD about having plenty of extras. As long as you keep them well oiled, NOT cool lube spray, and use the clippers on the lower speed, you shouldnt have much issue with them getting hot. When I use my artero wide blades, I use their attachments made for them. When using my regular blades, I use wahls stainless steel attaches (seen in this video).

I was debating between the Saphir cordless and the one with cord, and ended up getting the one with the cord because of the weight (330g vs 425g). Both lighter than what I was using, the Andis Ultraedge AGC2 2 Speed (my only issue with the Andis is its weight). I find the Saphir a bit louder than the Andis. And I'm wondering why my blades heat up faster with the Saphir vs the Andis even if I keep them well oiled.

I loved my Andis clippers but with 30+ years grooming my hands can't handle the weight anymore. I use the Bravura for most small dogs including the body as they can be fitted with clipper combs . They are lightweight and quite maneuverable. She is right though, often they are not strong enough for thick or heavy coats. I might look into the K10 as I need a heavier duty clipper that is lightweight. Thanks!

I dislike Wahl as a company. They treated me very badly recently. Their BravMini clipper is a toy! Good for tiny detailing but the battery dies early with no replacement, and the blades are JUNK! The Wahl Bravura is the same BS, like you mentioned. I prefer the Andis Vida which is identical to Bravura but much more torque. However, neither the Bravura or Vida is good for full dog body work, more on suitable for detailing on belly, paws, face, genitals. Extreme detail work on tiny dogs needs the BravMini. Unfortunately there is nothing that is this small for delicate small dogs. I wish we had an alternative to the BravMini. I have the Andis AGC2 and quite happy with it. Its not Heiniger quality, does heat up fast on #30 blades, but does a good job of full body work. It is corded. It has survived a house fire, and still works just fine. I do change the drive shaft now and then, easy change, cheap part. I like Andis as a company, more responsive and they DO NOT subcontract their clippers out to China like Wahl does, which is why Wahl sucks big time. I will never buy another Wahl clipper, I hate this company!!! Heiniger Saphir came down in price to $315 - $250! Heiniger Opal is the next gen Saphir, and has a lot more features: 2 speeds, very quiet, cord/cordless option, run time doubled to 4 hrs! Saphir is 2 hrs. Good product in the Opal. Petedge sells the Andis AGC2 cheapest. For those who want a Bravura type medium clipper, try the Andis Vida. Same type of adjustable blade, same size. Andis is made in the USA, Bravura and all of Wahl's rotten products are made in China with 0 quality control. However, like I said, if you have Toy or Mini Poodle, and you need delicate clippers, you have no choice but to get the Wahl BravMini with their #30 fine blade because it does the ears, eyes, paws, butt for these tiny dogs really well. Small enough to get in there, and not dangerously strong. Laube iVac Clipper runs $600 and you have to clip backwards. Enough said! Note: Heiniger Opal is very sensitive to dirty blades and can shut off if blades are sticky with dirt. Clean them with H-42 or Artero blade cleaner, use blade oil, and do this before, during, after clipping. Blades last longer, and don't overheat. Clipper does not have to strain either.
