During the Covid lockdown, I was walking on a narrow path on Mountain Drive, south of Grahamstown and something moved to the left of me and when I turned to look I saw it was a Rinkhals sunning itself on a flat rock. Luckily I had my camera with me as I was looking for butterflies in that area. In this video I have also included 5 interesting facts about the Rinkhals, a southern African endemic snake. .

I walked passed it when it was 2 m from me and I didn't see it. Only saw a movement out of the corner of my eye as I walked passed.

Scary! So it felt threatened? Was it on it’s way to attack when you ran?

A snake expert said it looked quite relaxed in this video, so it was on its way to forage.
