FULL PARTS LIST BELOW
My clutch pedal stuck to the floor on my 2007 VW Rabbit because the clutch master cylinder failed spraying all the DOT 4 fluid out leaving the clutch useless.
This is how I found out which part in the hydraulic clutch system failed.
The is the same system in all Volkswagen Jetta, Golf, Passat, GIT, TDI, and Rabbit models years 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

You don't know how glad I am that I found this video. I have an oldish car, around 15 y o Renualt Twingo that was barely driven before I got it, had it for like 5 years now and it scared the daylights out of me today because I was stuckin a crossroad with my clutch sticking to the floor and the car not being able to start at all, it luckily sprang back to life but I was seriously scared that something major was wrong and I'd need a new car right away (currently saving for a new used car but I would prefer to get it without a loan lol)

Quickie update: Turns out that nothing was wrong with anything leaking or anything O.o According to my grandpa the rug on the floor of the car somehow got around the clutch or something like that and the clutch got tangled in it and that's why it wouldn't work - but that was the first thing that I checked and it wasn't tangled or anything- it hasn't happen since but hopefully it doesn't happen again until I can get a new car x.x

Very much appreciated brother! I just bought my 07 rabbit just earlier this month.... not having this issue, but it gives me a good idea on the simple breakdown of components to reach that area of the engine bay. I haven't read the other comments... but just a heads up: be careful popping the four tabs on the underside of the air intake box... some of us have broke them in the past... Carefully work them from corner to corner... take your time and you'll be fine I always say!!

First try pumping the pedal back and forth for about a minute if there are air bubbles in the system they need to be worked out. You may have to bleed the system using a brake bleeder kit. If that doesn't work check for other leaks at the slave cylinder.

Thank you for this video just starting my endeavour with a 2007 Volkswagen rabbit here in Idaho got 10 miles down the road and the clutch completely went out on me praying it's not a $400 set and I can just replace the slave cylinder like I did on my 85 F350 6.9 diesel going from diesel truck engine bay to Volkswagen rabbit engine bay is going to be a journey there's no power in any gear but first and anything more than 3,000 RPMs it doesn't go barely crawls around the block clutch or slave cylinder?
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper 2 года назад
Hey did you do the repair yet? Sorry for the late reply. you can do each individual piece and it's not a bad strategy if you're short on cash and can do the work yourself, but but if you're having a shop do it it might save you a little more money in the long run to do all of it the master cylinder, line and slave cylinder all at once. Pretty much all three pieces failed within a few months of each other.

Can you please help me!! I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla that just got a new clutch installed. Once installed I noticed the clutch pedal was weak when pressing. I tried to bleed the system at the slave cylinder but couldn’t get it to keep pressure at the slave so I replaced the master cylinder. (Thinking it had weak pressure overall) the clutch pedal would go to the floor when bleeding the slave and would get stuck down. I’d have to pull the pedal back up to get pressure back. After the master cylinder was replaced I got the same pedal to the floor experience when bleeding at the slave. When the pedal gets stuck the only way to get my pedal back with pressure was to pull it back out. I’m not sure what to do. The only other tip I can give is that when the pedal gets stuck to the floor when cracking the bleeder screw in the slave I close off the bleeder and can press in on the slave cylinder rod that is on the shift fork and as I press it down the clutch pedal pops back up. I’ve tried gravity bleeding it too and the pedal will again go to the floor. Would this be a bad slave and not master?? Or any idea?? When bleeding I had my fluid all the way full to eliminate any air. Thanks!!!
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper 2 года назад
The frustrating thing about hydraulic systems like this is bubbles get stuck in weird places and corners in the system. The system should be set up so the reservoir is higher than the clutch so bubbles naturally want to work their way up but you need to help it along with about 100 pedal pumps and see if that works with the system closed off none of the bleeder equipment attached or bleed ports open
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper 2 года назад
Also not soon after the master cylinder went bad on my car the slave cylinder went bad as well so there could be a leaf there as well. On the Volkswagens you can just take the slave cylinder off and look at it I'm not sure if it's the same on Toyota's

@NickTheDenverDirtJumper
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper 5 лет назад
No I have not. I'd be happy to walk you through it if you have any questions. In the engine compartment you take the engine cover off and the battery and holder out and that'll allow you to get to the master cylinder. Then on the inside of the car are the bolts that hold it in place you have to take the lower dashboard off which is a couple turkey parts to you and then the whole pedal comes out and you replace the cylinder that's inside of the pedal holder.

@@NickTheDenverDirtJumper I've heard you need a top side pressure bleeder( whatever that is) in order to get all the air out after? was it hard to bleed? take a long time? and was the part you used still holding up? @NickTheDenverDirtJumper
@NickTheDenverDirtJumper 5 лет назад
@@messedupA_A_ron I was able to get the pressure pretty good just by pumping the pedal a lot. The other issue I had was the slave cylinder was leaking as well and letting air in so you might want to look out for that.
