The fact that Wren’s mom doesn’t even fathom the thought that females can also be sexual predators, is baffling and sickening. She IS putting her daughter in danger purposely at this point and I have zero faith in CPS/DCS at this point, since they’ve let SO many parent/caregiver abusers fall through the cracks. I think the biggest reason celebrities have issues with TikTokers at award shows is they are constantly trying to get content with the celebrities at the awards. The award shows should be a place to honor each other and have a good time and let loose. They shouldn't have to deal with some rando coming up to their table forcing a phone in their face.
Yes the tik tockers are gaining by going there and being seen with the celebrities. They are essentially going there to use the celebrities “likeness” and it’s not vice versa. I think if tik tokers go they need to be working. Like Emma chamberlain.

I’ll include as well as a statement that we will not be posting photos with our child’s face in it going forward for their own protection. But if they want to be on social media when they’re older they can be (for example when theyre a teenager) with supervision.

A little over a year ago we discovered we had a p3dophile in our immediate family and he is currently serving a prison sentence of 4 years for the content found on his cell phone. It all started when another family member noticed he was screenshotting photos of one of my young family members on Snapchat, and we followed our gut. I don’t have kids yet, but that whole situation has definitely influenced the way that I plan to raise my future child.

My biggest fear with AI is how easily people can be controlled and manipulated. It has always been a danger with oppressive governments, charismatic leaders etc., but now it will be perfectly, efficiently done and with real time adjustments. Think of something as simple as Google maps, directions/"best' routes could be changed to keep people out of certain areas. The possibilities are terrifying.

This. And let's be real there are tiktokers building elaborate worlds and stories complete with effects, costumes, multiple characters, etc. in 3-minute increments. There are tiktokers making incredible music. There are tiktokers dedicated to covering all the news that mainstream news outlets wants to ignore. There are tiktokers making lifestyles and culture content comparable to PBS production levels about food, immigrant experiences, fashion, interior design, etc. There are tiktokers engaging in deep, thoughtful analysis of traditional media. Tiktok is just a platform, it doesn't house only one type of content or creator. Some of the people I've seen on tiktok deserve to be at award shows far more than the scores of people who are famous for being famous, or for having a lot of money.

Exactly. You have to be an artist or be in the “biz”. Actor, singer, producer, SOMETHING. If your TikToks are of you singing, you get famous, and you’re at the Grammys, valid. If you ask me.

I seriously love this video! I could listen to you talk all day. Since becoming a mom I have become so heartbroken when I see kids being exploited on the internet. I rarely even post photos of my son because I am so protective of him. I cannot believe some of the moms out there. I seriously cannot fathom it.
My unpopular opinion? What Wren’s mother is doing is equivalent to child trafficking. She’s promoting her daughter’s image to appeal to a specific demographic of people (you’ll NEVER convince me she doesn’t know what she’s doing!) in order to make money. She might not be handing her over to someone who is physically harming her, but she’s still profiting off of other people using her daughter for their own nefarious and selfish purposes.
This situation is making me sick. I have not heard about it until Kristis video and it pains me that this woman is making money off of this. Something needs to be done but I feel like rarely are things like this actually handled esp. on tik tok. She knows what she is doing.
I'm sure it starts out with the best of intentions, then the pharma reps show up to your office . I have a specialist who has a large prominent sign saying those reps are not welcome in the office under any circumstances. He's told me stories about how they offer incentives like vacations, merchandise etc. The head doctor at the office he worked at when he was just starting out won an award with a value that equals some people's yearly wages. It was for the number of prescriptions the office wrote for his favorite reps meds. Up until that point, I was always so happy to get free samples from doctors because I genuinely believed they were trying to help, not win a trip or something. I recall hearing something about changes being made regarding rewards for prescriptions, but I still see those reps at most medical offices, so I assume they've found a loophole.

I feel like if "authorities" are telling Mom there is no evidence of her girl on sites then they're in on it. That sounds pretty fucking dark but there's no way. As a mom I think using your child for content is bad enough but at this point this is definitely exploitation and using them to appeal to horrible people makes it even worse. And not that it would make it better but all the money this lady is making will probably not go to the kid and she’ll just end up resenting her mum when she realises what her childhood was about. I posted a video of my kids. Just a cute little motherhood video. I had very little interaction on the video. But I checked and there were 11 favorites in my video. That was enough for me. Immediately deleted it and will NEVER post my kids again. I always went back and forth on posting my kids, but man, I learned my lesson. 😔
You definitely made the right decision but if it makes you feel any better I know a lot of people save videos of cute kids because they’re excited to be parents or they want something to make them happy ❤ don’t beat yourself up

I only have Facebook and less than 100 friends on there so I will share photos of my daughter but usually don’t have her in my profile pic. The one time I put her in my profile pic in December a man on Marketplace messaged me saying “pretty daughter, i hope you take care of her” absolutely disturbed me and was enough for me to never share her online again!!! why are people so disgusting❤️🩹 I feel so bad for all of the kids that are exploited by their parents online.

I completely agree with Zach’s opinion about the influencer at award shows. I personally don’t view influencers as celebrities hence why they’re not called celebs and instead called influencers. I think if their influence and work really pays off and make a music career or professional modeling career or acting then you do cross over because you did something with the influence you gained and really worked your butt off and are now working on a different level so to speak so I think the scenario he made about name brand vs knock off is very on point

My child would not be on any social media platform until the were old enough to tell they wanted to be and even though it would not be public or in any type of suggestive or provocative way. In Spain we have a special Law Advocate called "Defensor del Menor" that means he/she is a Gobernament Advocate to defend de underage. No matter who is damaging the underage, no matter if Physically or their image or their honour and rights. So this Lawyer will take care of any situation where a child, underage is being abused or damaged in anyway. And yes, Gobernament through this figure will take the underage under their care if any parent damages them. So in this particular situation you can bet there would have been multiple accusations and Defensor del Menor would have taken care of it all, first of all removing the child from the mother's hands and then after the trial if back to her hands she would NOT br able to take any image of the child and post it on social media. We're SO careful about it all. In fact as part of a Charity Association we never ever put any of the children pictures in the media without blurring their faces...no matter if we have the parents consent to post the child face, we protect them so nobody will identify them.

Brand trips are part of WHY beauty influences become beauty influencers. Its an amazing perk of the job. People just want something to complain about. Stop telling people what to do with their money.
Only issue I have with them, is that from the start.. 99% of the influencers do not properly disclose (as legally required). As a consumer & viewer of many.. it's infuriating & inexcusable imho..

On the TikTok topic, one perspective I heard was that the TikTokers were trying to make content with the celebs (some say they were being a little extra about it). It makes sense that that is what they would want to do and may have been invited to do, but it seems the celebrities weren't aware of or prepared for it. Personally, I think it makes sense for a lot of them to be at *this* awards show - the People's Choice Awards. Maybe organizers should have set up a process for celebs to opt in to content creation or at least a heads up. For other awards, if your content or identity applies, it makes sense but I can't see a gaggle of random genre content creators showing up to the Oscars or Tony Awards going over well. I don't like the "belonging" question. It's more about how you show up to me.
20:36 I was hearing from other influencers that sometime the tiktokers bombard the “ real “ celebrities during these shows outside of the press hour they have and it’s odd for them they just want to enjoy the show I guess. And it made sense to me, tik tok people don’t have to leave their house to be famous so when they see these people they’ve dreamt about meeting and now they are in the same room, I see how things could get hairy there!
I think the reason these influencers are getting invited to these award shows is because viewership is at an all time low. A lot of the winners are movies that many people haven't watched. The stars are unrelateable. Our eyes have been opened to the satanic following of this industry. They need the influencers to draw in the crowd. One example would be the super bowl that happened a month ago. It had the largest viewership ever for a super bowl because of the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Not because of the football game. These stars should be thankful for the influencers and not look down on them.
Superbowl viewership dropped in 2020 (probably because less people got together for parties), but the total viewership (broadcast and streaming combined) goes up every year. As for award shows, they've always only appealed to a certain crowd - people really into movies and TV - they're typically kind of boring to the general population.

You have collaborated on make up, you create beauty content. It makes perfect sense that an online beauty content creator is invited to a make up brand event. I would expect and want to see established beauty content creators and professional MUAs at those kinds of events. At the Oscar’s or the Grammys, I feel they would need to have accomplished a major acknowledgment in their original curated art respective of film/music/dance. In a way I do see it from both sides
I haven't watched the entire video yet. I'm still in the section about Wren. These past few weeks have been dark when it comes to children in the media. I have learned a child's worst enemy can be their parent. As a mother it hurts my heart so much. Our job as parents is to protect our children from the evil in the world, but also teaching them how to protect themselves from it. As well as teaching them how to be good humans. That mother needs to seriously reflect on what she is doing. That daughter will not thank her for exploiting her as a toddler for cash. Even if it pays for her college education.

As someone who has chronic EB, I agree with you telling anyone who tries to give you medical advice online to suck your ass. Whenever people do this to me I always say “oh my god, THANK YOU! I never thought of doing that, and it’s so nice to hear from an expert giving me advice, someone who knows exactly what’s going on with me! I never considered or heard your advice before at all despite this being my life. Thank you SOOOO MUCH.” Then they always look at me like I’m somehow an asshole, lol.
To use the excuse that it's law enforcement's job to get rid of all the creeps online is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Also, yes someone is always struggling somewhere. But do you stop planning your vacation trips because someone else might not be able to afford groceries? I get why is easier to be annoyed and sure I wish I could afford all of that too and it is annoying. But I also know that they going to Bora Bora does not stop me from going at some point in my life or at least to hope to be able to afford it one day. Cause why not? If they can, I can too someday by my own efforts.
