Lol, man all of our options of birth control are terrible
@alicebombeeck5384
@alicebombeeck5384 Год назад
This is very much true. ... I feel that we are all brainwashed into believing it is somehow 'normal' to put our bodies through all this toxic misery. It is NOT normal!! And it is NOT healthy!!! Not physicly and not mentally!!!!! There needs be awareness among women!! We need to take controll over our own bodies and fertility. Not only would this benefit our health and mental health... it would also benefit society a lot!! Sex is not 'something you can have casually'' or 'without consequences' for that matter. It is just not the intrinsic nature of it!!! Thank you for the video... ❤

This is crazy. I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm still gonna try it though because hormonal contraceptives have made me SUFFER. Why can't men be the ones who take BC?????

I highly recommend giving it a try! I have more copper IUD options where I am in Canada and since I haven't had kids yet my doctor prescribed the Liberte short copper IUD which is smaller than paragard sold in the US. I had mine inserted under general anesthesia and all I had was a bit of spotting after insertion but now everything's perfect ☺️

Right why can't the men take the birth control because it's not like they are doing anything else besides making the babies that they also don't have to birth🤦‍♀️😔😂

@@cyliefields1620 do you know around how much that costs? I think that might be a good option for me so I’m seriously willing to make a trip to Canada for it. I’ll even do it without the anesthesia if it costs me less lol.
@cyliefields1620

@@renee8802 I only got it under anesthesia due to my cervix not opening even with cervical dialators. Typically the doctor will ask you to come in during your period since the cervix will be open to make it easier. I paid $100 for it and it lasts 5 years.

My copper IUD story: I was never on birth control prior, this was my first (and so far only) form of birth control apart from condoms and spermicide. I mentioned during my consultation that I had cramps and bad periods, but I was told that that likely wouldn’t be a problem which I didn’t believe but I wanted to try this. The measuring hurt more for me than the actual insertion (I will remember the measuring for the rest of my life). The insertion definitely wasn’t pleasant though. And then, I was fine! I was told to rest for two minutes. Then I got up to go and wait for my ultrasound to make sure it was correctly placed. And that’s when it started… Very suddenly I felt weak, dizzy, and nauseous, as I spoke to the receptionist to schedule the aforementioned ultrasound. I excused myself to the bathroom and wretched for five minutes, I didn’t need to vomit but my body just involuntarily felt like it should. And I thought I would be ok, and waited for the ultrasound, feeling increasingly weak and sick. Then, the ultrasound. Everything looked normal. But the technician asked me if I was ok, if it was normal to be in pain like this. I said yea, and it didn’t even dawn on me that if the technician was asking me this, this was probably not that normal. I kind of wish she had pushed me harder to ensure I was alight because really I wasn’t, I was in so much pain. But I figured it would be fine in a few days. I finally got home and passed out. I remember waking up to eat a little in bed, but falling asleep after again. I woke up twelve hours later, took a shower (though I ended up mostly sitting down), and…went back to sleep. My hot water bottle wasn’t doing the job, and my at-time boyfriend thankfully got me those back-pain heating belts. I depended on these for like a month, basically, I was in bed entirely for two days, in constant pain, probably the worst pain of my life. And from there, cramps, every single day except a day or two around ovulation if I was lucky. I could hardly get out of bed during my period from these cramps, and even when off my period they would randomly strike. I would have to sit down at the grocery store or work randomly, because I was immobilized and couldn’t even hold myself upright. I was also spotting and bleeding daily, like I couldn’t not wear a pad. My periods went from 5-6 days to 8-10, with blood flow that bordered on unsafe the first days, and inconsistent after. Like days 6-9 were lighter but I would get random flows of heavy blood. I had to take ibuprofen almost every single day, obviously multiple times during my period and before, and I could hardly be without some heating pad. When I went to my 6 week follow up appointment, my complaints were dismissed and I was old to wait 3 months for changes. Nothing changed, and they told me to wait 6 months. Seven months later with absolutely no change, I had it removed. I felt instantly better. I didn’t realize until the week of it being removed how much it had been hampering my energy and mood. One thing though that took longer was being able to have sex again. With the copper iud, sex was painful and difficult. After its removal, it took a very long time for that to not be the case anymore. I have a friend who ended up in a similar situation to myself with mirena. I had a friend who was able to come out for dinner after her copper iud insertion but who wasn’t feeling great throughout, and she got hers removed. And I have a friend who had no problems at all the day of her insertion, and no problems with the copper iud at all after. It’s something I wouldn’t deter people from trying. But if you know something is wrong, and it isn’t for you, don’t hesitate to remove it.

For me it was a really bad experience the two times i had it in after my children. Yes it does its job, but man was it a rollercoaster for me!!! From extreme painful cramping, inflammation of my ovaries, long heavy periods, spotting after periods, sharp pains at times, mood swings, etc. I don't think ill be doing this ever again. But everyone is different. Im not suggesting not to get it but listen to your* body only you* can decide if its ok with what you put in it. God Bless and Stay Safe. P.s had them both close to 6 years each

I just self removed mine today after two years. (Not rececommended for everyone, but I was desperate.) I couldn't take the cramps anymore. I'd get really bad cramps 10 days before my period, all the way up to the day of my period. Cramps during ovulations, cramps all the time. Not even normal cramps. I could feel the cramps in each fallopian tube around the paraguard. And the the pain would shoot down my legs. It would prevent me from working out. There wasn't enough painkillers I could take in combo to kill the pain. Motrin, Tylenol, Aleve. Nothing worked. My periods went to 5 days total to 2 days of spotting, 2 days of normal bleeding, 2 days of very heavy bleeding to 3 days of light bleeding/spotting. Basically 10 days of a period. I'm 45. This is stuff I used to deal with as a teenager. As soon as I pulled it out, I felt instant relief. No more IUDS for me. I had a Mirena IUD that was also horrible mistake. I took that after 3 months. This was 10 years ago. I think I'll just go back to pill until I hit menopause. It was a better experience for me. I tried the paraguard to try something new. Never again. Foreign objects won't be in my uterus again. BTW I have one child. I'm okay with just my one.

I feel like so many woman do the switch from hormonal BC straight to the copper coil and it’s so hard to tell what is from the hormone imbalance and what is from the coil. Sis you had a rough year with the combination of both... it took me an entire year to adjust from birth control to no birth control. The acne was WILD. The copper coil experience is different for many people. However IF you do get symptoms they are terrible. After 4.5 yrs I lost half my hair, anxiety that nearly took me to ER and I very nearly died. Within 2 days of removal I discovered just how bad the side effects were for me when I could suddenly do a cartwheel again, go to toilet like a normal person and the cloud was lifted. It had nothing to do with withdrawing from the pill as I hadn’t been on the pill for 18 months when I had it inserted. It ruined 4 years of my life. Was no problem at first but after a few years the bad side effects kicked in. A lot of women saying how wonderful it is haven’t had it in long enough. When mine was removed it was corroded and dusty. It was poisoning me .

My OBGYN actually prescribed miSOPROStol (CYTOTEC) 200 MCG oral Tab for me to take the night before the IUD insertion appointment to soften my cervix. I also had to be on my period. I actually experienced no pain during the procedure. I did have a little bit of pain once I got home but I figured out that when I laid on my left side I had pretty much no pain. I also had a full month of bleeding at first. I came to watch your video because I just finished 1 year with the Paragard and my periods are very frequent although I'm not sure if it's worth calling a period half the time since it's more like spotting for a week and I only have on average 7 days in between. I was on the NUVARING prior to the Paragard. Thank you for sharing your experience.

@@taylorsimone8846 that's a bummer. I made sure that my OBGYN was a female and read tons of reviews before making an appointment with her. I love the freedom the IUD gives me (once I was past the month of bleeding and extended periods in the first 3 months).

@@taylorsimone8846 for me it was more annoying than anything else but having a menstrual cup and menstrual disc that I could use made it sooo much more bearable. Since you are no longer able to check your strings, do you just trust the IUD is in place doing it’s thing? How often do you go and have them checked that makes you feel comfortable? I guess changes in your period would be an indicator of any shifts in its placement. My provider told me she doesn’t even recommend her patients to check the strings because situations happen so often where people can’t feel the strings, they coil up, etc and they freak out when everything is completely fine.

Update! I've been on the copper IUD for over a year now. It's been the best decision. Yes, putting it in was painful. I have heavy periods but I did before getting it as well. Otherwise, absolutely no issues. I'm so glad I chose a relatively brief moment of pain over the endless list of consequences that women routinely go through with hormonal birth control. As a person who had struggled with mental health prior to choosing birth control, I was unwilling to compromise and go with an option that put that at risk. (We aren't encouraged to think about the mental side effects enough) I'd do it 1000x over. Everybody is different, and I'm glad for little corners of the world like this where we get to share our experiences prior to making decisions because the physicians definitely don't bother with having conversations with us about all the possibilities.

Never had an iud, gonna get one in 2 weeks. After decades of heavy periods, endometriosis pain, thyroid problems, difficult pregnancy and son’s birth 23 years ago, and large difficult fibroids……I don’t think my copper iud will make a dent in what I’m already used to. I’m 46 and do NOT want to start over with raising a child! I have to have non hormonal bc my BC pills are lessening the effects of my hypothyroid meds and also making my fibroids worse. So all the horror stories I hear about these….I’m like, we’ll that’s nothing new to what I’m used to any way

Did they have you take a pill to open your uterus/cervex before the procedure? How is it sexually?
@iwantmyfriescrispynotburnt3981
@iwantmyfriescrispynotburnt3981 3 года назад
What I did was to take 1000mg of Tylenol and a muscle relaxant an HOUR. Its best to be on your cycle when getting the IUD. It's like 3 sharp pinches. I took it like a champ. So it's in your best interest to take something before you go. Drink water afterwards to stay hydrated. It's also good to take some nausea medication before as well.

@@maggiemulenga4010 oh no :/ I actually feel so much better, I can feel huge improvement; make sure you get scan both ways intro and superficial. I’ve got mine taken out cause I’ve been suffering of massive migraines, extremely painful cramps to the point of staying in bed for 5 days not been able to move at all, heavy bloating, low in iron and then 4 months ago I’ve felt a lump in my lower belly. Finally got checked and they found 3 fibroids 11cm 9 cm and 7 cm in my uterus. That’s why I’ve got mine taken out. Some positions during intercourse were also quite painful. Just make sure they really you get your smear test and all check. I’m actually thinking in doing a video but on my Instagram cause I have not find many useful info. I’m not a influencer or RU-vidr btw just feel like there is so much more we need to talk about.

Can I get it as a virgin or do I still need to take the pregnancy test?
@greenriverblackfoot1012
@greenriverblackfoot1012 3 года назад
A good reputable doctor will require you to do a pregnancy test, period, as they should. Something you may not have considered is this. When i was 14 I was a virgin, I had never even inserted anything into my vagina, not even a tampon. I decided to try tampons. So I got one and practiced inserting it. My god. The pain. It was terrible. The first time you insery something in your vagina it is going to hurt terribly. I gradually got to where tampons were not painful. Then I went up to using small skinny vibrators. Then dildos the size of normal penises. You have to go through pain of stretching out your virgin vagina to get to where penetration is pleasurable. The first time I had sex was great. My friend who had never even worn a tampon? We lost ours to the same man, her experience was terrible, painful and she bled. You gotta get used to penetration before you get an iud, because in order to place the iud they have to go into your vagina. Do yourself that favor if you haven't already.
