My custom Yamaha XV750 Virago. Sound + rebuilt + the ride! 

Thanks for the nice comment. All I've done was pretty cheap as I've done it all with cheap solutions.

Ik zelf vindt het ook een leuke motor, maar het is wel echt een kleine motor. Qua zitpositie is het echt een heel kort stuk van zadel naar stuur. Daar kon ik niet heel erg goed aan wennen. Toen het café racer stuur er op zat was het een stuk beter. Wel een gedoe toen met de stuurstopper om te zorgen dat deze niet tegen de tank aan kon komen. Ik zou zeker eerst eens een goede testrit gaan maken.

Original this bike is made for the European market. I also loved the original paint, that's actually why I bought it in the first place. But after fitting the new handlebar I didn't change the handlebar stoppers and this ended in some pretty annoying dents in the tank. So changed it al. I've used the cheapest paint, but have been very happy with the result. www.action.com/nl-nl/p/spectrum-metallic-spuitverf/ All together I've not spent more than €150 for the full build.

The paintjob was pretty easy, i only used spray cans. I would sugest 2k clearcoat. I didn't use 2k, but this will defenitly be a better choice for the tank. Make sure to spray in a lot of layers and in a dust and wind free area.

cirelachlan I thought I put a bigger main jet in the carb's. 117,5. No problems after the change.

Mine did not have starter problems, but after the rebuild I didn't keep it for long. It did take some time to let it run smoothly because of the open exhaust, but other than that it all worked fine.

Zie 2:10 in de video. Daar heb ik het nieuwe stuur er op. Ik vond de originele zitpositie niet prettig. Het stuur zat te dichtbij en door dit café racer stuur zit je een stuk meer naar voren. Ik ben trouwens niet groot. 1,70m en de Virago is een kleine motor.

@@globastiaan Op dat tijdstip in de video zit je best mooi rechtop. Kreeg je geen last van je armen bij langere ritten? Ik had dat vooral met het originele stuur op mijn vaders XV750. Mijn vriendin wil nou zo'n fiets, maar dan zonder het stuur en de ruggesteun achterop haha. Wil dus wat 'light mods' gaan toepassen. Thanks voor je antwoord!

I went from MIKUNI size 115 tot 117,5. I was lucky to get the jets at a local custom bike shop close by. It's not easy to get the carbs of the bike, so it took me a while before it all ran smoothly. I also did not need to change the gaskets. Just a lot of carb cleaner and i was good to go :D. Make sure that all the rubber and plastics are of the carb before using carb cleaner. Good luck!

I would love to have the sound back, but RU-vid removed it because the music I've used. I don't know what I can do to get the sound back. Pretty bad.

@@globastiaan ah fair enough, it's a lovely bike and I love what you did with it, hopefully soon I'll come into possession of a 750 virago just like the one you showed with the original looks ^.^ (it belonged to my nan which is why I'm really hoping to get it)

Dat waren de oude metalen doorboorde gaten, opgevuld met uitlaat cement. Maar dit is af te raden. Het brokkelen af na verloop van tijd. Het beste koop je een aluminium ring die je erin vast last ofzo. Zonder kan ook, maar ik had het idee dat het mooier klinkt als je deze ring erin hebt. wordt het geluid dieper. De metalen oude opening is wel vast blijven zitten met dat cement (gum gum praxis).

Succes. Ik heb na het aanpassen van de uitlaat erg lang moeten spelen met de carburateurs. Uit eindelijk heb ik (mikuni carbs) de main jet van 115 naar 117,5 veranderd en daarmee liep hij goed. pilot jet is hetzelfde gebleven en liep prima stationair.

Zeker weet ik dat niet, maar het lijkt volledige open Fishtails te zijn, dus ik denk dat het niet veel veranderd in de tegendruk.

Good question... I have now idea. Maybe RU-vid removed the songs I used. That's pretty crappy.

It was gumgum exhaust paste with a little metal wire frame in it. but it did not work out for a long time. After a while it startet to break.

so do you think will last or i have to repeat after a while that process with gun gum ? thank you so much

only the metal frame broken after a while ?

+dan laurentiu the Gun Gum paste softens after a while, so it did not work well. But the sound after and before the Gun Gum paste is much deeper with. I think because of the vibrations the paste starts to break away.

Don't understand how you can't hear the bike. All the time my GoPro didn't have wind notice I've turned the sound down.

But for me the seat position improved a lot. Now I could press on the handlebars instead of hang on them. Feels much better.

After this video kinda started to be seen more and more i fully agree. I should have made more footage of the final product. Unfortunatly i've sold the bike since this video. 😞
