Nyob Zoo All!
My Dad's 6 year old persimmon tree fruit so beautifully this year, I wanted to share a little glimpse of it to you all. It took 3 years for the tree to fruit and it has consistently fruit ever since. Persimmons only grow during the fall. They are soft & sweet when fully ripe, crunchy and slightly sweet during the state we picked it in the video. We love Fuyu Persimmon as it they are best eaten crunchy or soft. Hachiya persimmons are only best when they are fully soft and ripe. They are not great eaten when crunchy. Persimmons are great to grow in zone 4-9 (depending on environment) We live in zone 8b so they grow really well here.
Enjoy seeing my dad's beautiful persimmon tree this year! Do you like persimmon? Have you ever eaten a persimmon before?

About Cindy
My Name is Cindy Her, I am a full time Pastry Chef in the Pacific Northwest and part time food content creator for C.HerCreations (C.HawjCreations). I specifically focus on Hmong food I grew up eating but I also venture into other South East Asian food as well.
As a second generation Hmong American woman, my goal is to teach you what Hmong people love to eat, what we cook, how we cook it, how it has evolved, and how we enjoy it. I want you to learn a little bit more about the Hmong food culture and I hope you all stay tuned on this culinary adventure with me. As always, happy cooking :)

With all that you guys grow, I hope you guys are composting all the fruit and vegetable wastes. Using that compost on all your plants is the best way to feed them organically. My family loves persimmons, and my wife and I are so envious of your father's persimmon trees.

3 years wait is not that long. Considering how much fruits it’s giving off in the long run. 😋

Happy to see you well! Do they require a frost or cold weather like those in the Southeast in order to lose their bitterness? Thank you for showing us your little bit of paradise.

And here I am in zone 6a.. still cold. Very hopeful, we have native American persimmon here, but nothing compare to fuyu. Few years ago bought back a fuyu from VA... growing but what sad sticks I have... Very envious of your dad's trees. Enjoy the fruits of your family hard work growing them.

How many trees do you have ? They say you need a female and a male tree for it to give fruit ?
@oakiedoakie9427
@oakiedoakie9427 Год назад
How long does it take to harvest that amount? How do you protect from animals ? Do you need to harvest all in one days time ?
@CHerCreations
@CHerCreations Год назад
It took 2.5 years for our tree to fruit. We have a pretty gated area so not a lot of animal comes and eat it. We do have some cases of squirrels nibbling some but it's not bad. You only harvest what is ripe and let the others ripen until the season is over.

He should have waited a week or 2 before harvesting to get the best flavor out of the persimmons.

Yummy 😋 my sister just got some from her boss' home. They grow very well here in our area too. I live near Los Angeles. Actually my university has a bunch of these persimmon trees and my brother and his friends used to pick from them lol. We all went to the same university or worked on campus so we knew when to pick it when no one was around.

I have purchased a Fuyu and its only a stick right now. I plan to put it in the ground in early March. This tree looks very healthy. Did your dad amend the soil when he planted it?
@CHerCreations
@CHerCreations 2 года назад
My dad didn’t do much to the soil. We do compost around it a lot so it gets pretty good nutrients. Well-drained soil is best. The tree has been in the same spot for the past 5 years now and it’s doing good 😊
