He's a cool dude though and you guys have a good back & forth going on (to quote Kurt "everyone is gay"). You should have him on a few more reactions, unless he's been on before - I'm a new subscriber. Awesome channel, thank you for the great content. P.S. I really hope you were trolling us not knowing that was Dave Grohl, lol.
@Metal Mellie in Alex's defense, his channel is reaction videos.💞 My 2 sons are gen z & both musicians, however you can ask them about any band, & they will know the answer. They both, have the love of all genres of music 🎶 My youngest just saw The Foo Fighters in concert, a couple of months ago. He didn't take me 😔 🤣 after I took them to Soo many while they were growing up. Lol ✌❤
That look after "THAT'S DAVE GROHL?!" is priceless! Hilarious! EVERYone needs to see that. I swear, I gotta bookmark that look for anytime I need a pick-me-up. Poems and novels could be written about the look that goes through that face at that exact moment.
Amazing thing about this Unplugged.... One take, one show... Played straight through... The whole show... Showed up the just before taping and freaking played the whole show... Lots of big time artists took four and five takes a song for their "Unplugged" shows... Amazing
A reaction to the whole performance would be awesome. But yeah as a 41 yr old dude, that breath and stare at the end of Where Did You Sleep Last Night affected an entire generation of music lovers.
Cool little known fact the guitar used for the unplugged show is the highest selling guitar ever sold at auction it sold for 6 million and the cardigan sweater he wore sold for $250k
Kurt Cobain was ahead of the curve. I remember watching that live on TV. I was so excited. I was glued to the TV. Unplugged was an institution. This particular unplugged is one of the most perfect performances ever! Also, Kurt designed the set from the first lily to the last light. Just a fun fact. And yes, that’s Dave Grohl. It’s where he started.
The year was 1991, i was introduced to Nirvana - Nevermind and Metallica - Black Album. And now i'm 40 years old. I still play those albums from time to time.
"Have I heard 'All Apologies' by Nirvana?" eyes conveying the ridiculousness of the question. I love it. The look of Dave Grohl confusion! Nirvana Unplugged in New York is hands down the best album released in the 1990s live or otherwise
Ohh yes we need more reactions with "the other Alex"! You two vibe off each other well.. from the look he gives you over the Marilyn comment and the priceless reaction to the Grohl comment...I have a feeling y'all are pretty entertaining....😆 btw...I'm going to completely embrace the delusion you were trolling about Dave Grohl... because...well, I'm older than both of you and it's gonna help me sleep better at night. 😂😜
This was a fun one. Alex "Anthony Kiedis" Koby is such a treat to watch, you both are. My man's had a full on existential crisis when you said he was almost 40 😆😆😆 talm 'bout 👁👄👁 I do agree with him though... while I know you've seen quite a few of the songs performed, thos whole set start to finish is an experience (and I own it on DVD too, so I guess I'm older than George Burns as well). The look he gave you after the Dave Grohl question was priceless.... BUT... it took me until like 10th grade to make that connection so... everyone learns at their own pace. Hope your neck feels better, a stiff neck is no bueno. Also... now that HE showed you NIRVANA... maybe Koby should get some... takos... you know, with a banana, cheese, chocolate syrup, and some ketchup... topped with a bagel.... 😉😏
@@missybekind5022 I never saw an MTV Unplugged with Chris. Chris unplugged in other venues is always mind blowing. Guess I shoud have specified MTV Unplugged. Sorry💜
@Kristi Marriner I totally love your picks, I should've realized you meant MTV, they were the original of the "unplugged"!! Oh... how I miss the days of, blazing & watching MTV All day Long!! Lol ✌️❤
I believe this is a song message to his daughter. The album this song is from is called “In Utero”; which means this whole album was dedicated to his child. In this song he’s apologizing for all of the mess ups he has done and (in his own right) wishes he could be as innocent as her. Hence the lyrics “I wish I was like you; Easily amused.” You gotta hand it to Kurt for admitting his faults and wishes he could be better. That takes legit gonads to admit.
That was the funniest reaction video I've seen! Not sure who the guy with you is but he's swag as fuck and you two work well together. You should do them together more often. 🤟🏼🔥
The first time the "dad" heard this song he probably listened 5 times on a loop on a Walkman without a break, cut to the next generation, can't make it through 25 seconds without pausing, this psychologically is super interesting in 2 generations
Dave Grohl the drummer of Nirvana is the the lead singer of the Foo Fighters,Please check out Dave Grohl and Nandi Bushell drum battle to Dead End Friends, Nandi was recently on stage with the Foo Fighters playing drums to Everlong at the L A Forum on 8-26-21
This song and video still gives me chill small these years later the pain on voice can be clearly hear Kurt was in a deep depression here he designed the stage said he wanted it to look like his funeral he died not to long after this
Please react more with Bonus Alex, he was awesome! (His reaction to you finding out Dave Grohl is the drummer was priceless🤣) And he’s right you should definitely watch Nirvana’s entire Unplugged show.
I remember seeing the original airing of this unplugged. I had plans that night, and didn't go. I was in awe, and sat on my couch, jaw on the floor, and watched it instead!
His voice was so shredded during this performance. They almost cancelled this due his voice being strained from their massive touring schedule. They didn't and it gave us this unforgettable sound.
I've just finished binging like 10 of these on a call in to work day and realized how young you are. I now feel obligated to suggest things I haven't yet seen on here, if for no other reason than the betterment of humanity and the future of the planet. Chevelle, 10 Years After, Concrete Blonde, Temple of the Dog, STP, Primative Radio Gods, I gotta' find the recommendations area...
Kurt adored his little sister and I would assume since she's a lesbian their relationship inspired his acceptance and support for the LGBTQ community and he even said as much in one of their shows when before they stared playing he said if there's anyone here who doesn't like black people or gay people get the fuck out!!
The best Unplugged concert. This is my favorite Nirvana song. So good. If I was able to go back in time I would go back to this concert. Those people were so lucky
I've mentioned about Dave Grohl in comments to a past freshly uploaded Foo Fighters reaction video by joking, "He's the drummer?? (of Nirvana)." I'm surprised by this reaction or that enough people haven't commented about his past for you to take notice.
Being from near Seattle, growing up with this band and all the others that came out in the 80s , they played Nirvana too much on the radio at the time that I got sick of them , but I had what I felt was a lot better options to choose from like Alice In Chains, Queensryche, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden
You need to watch the entire show! It is in my opinion the best overall Unplugged show of any artist. The pain and emotion is right there with Eddie and Layne.
This is grundge soul at it's greatest. Kurt understood pain.Kurt understood love. Kurt understood disappointment. Kurt understood the human condition .Nirvana translated it all.
You should check out some MELVINS. They're responsible for Nirvana. One of Kurt's biggest influences. And the guys who introduced Nirvana to Dave Grohl when they needed a drummer. Also. The melvins drummer was the original nirvana drummer
Fun fact: The guitar he plays here is (now) the most expensive guitar in the world. It used to be David Gilmour´s black Strat. But then this 1959 Martin Acoustic here has been auctioned off. With a sales price of $ 6.000.000 (To Rode Microphones founder M. Freedman) now the most expensive guitar in the world!
Talking about him wearing dresses, etc to discourage homophobes from coming to his shows...there’s a brief video clip on RU-vid of him stopping in the middle of a show to stop a guy from groping a girl in the crowd and calling him out in front of everyone.
He was what? Like 10 when this song hit? 😂😂😂 I was 17...and the "In Utero' album was our Anthem! The 80s and early 90s produced THE BEST music period...GEN X ROCKED!
Might be step dad, who knows. But he's funny. You two vibe off each other well. He's like the dude, who you always think is semi drunk, but after several times of meeting him, you find out...no.. He's just that way. Well, that and your friend said "no dude, he's just like that" so who knows. Maybe he is drunk. Maybe the friend is too. Still fun to watch.
Yes! It had been years I believe since he had revisited a Nirvana song...I saw one angle of the performance and when he hears Kurt's voice drop in for the verse...the smile on Dave's face brought tears to my eyes...❤️
Sad fact: I was set to see Nirvana back in October of '93. I didn't get to go, but said "I'll see em next time." We all know what happened. So now if I have a chance to see a band or artist I like, I go.
I love that the guy who is really introducing you to some new nirvana has a soul patch. Kurt gave Ricky Rachman ( the host of headbangers ball at the time) a razor as a symbol to shave that shit off as it was out dated. lol. Time is so fucking great that new fans can love the old shit without the prior bullshit. Go with whatever fashion or feeling you have! That was one of the points of grunge.
