Day 3: • Jumping a Very Excited...
›› Day 4 (Thursday): Today my dad and I hired an arena and went showjumping schooling on Khal and Fiona. Keep in mind, my dad has only taken up riding, has only jumped Fiona around 3 times before this (around 70-80cm verticals), has never jumped a course and never jumped a double! I can't believe he actually went and jumped the course!

Holly, this is the first time I have ever commented on You Tube but the relationship you have with your Dad, and the sharing of your love of horses is so special. I am 50, been riding all my life , my Dad is 83 and started riding at the age of 79! Yes really. ( to be fair he looks and acts 20 years younger ) He has always loved horses but more importantly for him is to share my passion for horses. The moments we have spent together in horseback have been some of the most special moments of my life . You and I are very lucky. Enjoy every moment ( even though , if you are anything like me, my heart is in my mouth every time they ride- my Dad is naughty and keeps asking to gallop full speed😱🤣). Dads like ours are the best! treasure every moment 😘

Holly can I just say the way you’ve trained and schooled Fiona is phenomenal that she can take your dad around like that so smoothly and quietly! I would kill to learn on a horse as smart and well schooled as her 😍. Your dad did amazing too of course!

Khal is progressing so beautifully Holly. He’s a credit to you. And so is your Dad (and vice versa!!). Can’t believe I teared-up watching your Pa complete the course. I think it’s the enjoyment all three of you got from the experience. So flipping sweet. I’m working at getting my husband into horses too. I have a sneaky suspicion he’ll take to it like a duck to water like Declan. Keep up the vids for as long as you can. You’re a little bloody legend x

I love the fact that most you tubers put their dad's up the horses and they pull verry hard on the reins and you see the frustration of the horse but your dad has a talent good of you to explain everything so good to him and Fiona did super aswell

Y’all may not know, but u probably do lol, the horse takes its cues from u. If ur nervous, the horse will be nervous, before coming up to a jump the horse was sort of bobbling his head, and I saw this a few times. When u ride in a half seat, try to stay in one spot instead of moving ur stomach back and forth, that will get the horse’s head in one spot without some bobbling. And a little tip, to get ur heals down far, do a walk, go up into a one point for 2 seconds and slowly sit for 2 seconds, then keep doing that and it will get ur heels far down and stretch someone muscles. And don’t drop ur hands, if u keep them up, the horse will feel that and keep it’s head up, instead of going up and down. And, try not to keep ur arms straight out, or stiff like the edge of a square, put ur arms to a length where there will be a little bend in ur arm. Just some tips! :)

Man I wish I had a Dad that was interested in horses. You look like you have so much fun with your Dad, meanwhile mine just waits in the carpark when I go to my lessons instead of watching. Oh well, I guess horses aren't for everyone.

Oh my god. I was so impressed with Khal thought I couldn't get any more impressed. Then your Dad jumped and I was literally like HOLY SHIT. He's doing so, SO amazing, and i think it's incredible how well Fiona takes to him, basically - you can see she knows she has to be more careful with him and be steady when his seat slips. I'm so impressed with both of them. Also of Khal and you, obviously! Well done to all of you!!
