My dad has been working for Halliburton for 35 long years and this was the gift he chose to receive from a few choices. He is very proud of this accomplishment and he loves the new watch.
Congratulations Dad!
2-28-16 (update)
Thanks for the 100k views, I never thought a simple video like this would get so many views. Also, Halliburton is about to lay off 5000 employees so keep us in your prayers. ty
5-20-16(sad update)
My dad was let go and no longer works for Halliburton. As of today 3:15PM 5-20-16 due to oil prices falling and hits to the company's profits.
7-1-16 My dad now works at another company doing what he did before he got removed. One of the guys he used to work with a year before offered his hand in getting him a manager position and he has less stress now. Very fortunate and very lucky. This shows what it means to be a great worker and someone that people can work with!

People are fucking idiots. The very fact that your dad has worked there for 35 years, and that the company never let him go is amazing on both ends of the scale. Yet people still have the nerve to say, "ha a rolex, you made that company way more money than a rolex." Do you know what other companies give to their co-workers after 35+years of loyal working? A 30 day notice to go find another job... Congrats to your father!

Thats called a career, not a job. If you like what you're doing and make good money off it, why not stay until you're ready to retire? Seems like you've never worked a day in your life or have only held shitty jobs.

Congrats to your dad. It's great to see a company appreciate their emplyees. I just purchased a date just II as a Christmas gift to myself. I love it, love wearing it, and look forward to many years of enjoying it. Tell your dad to get a watch winder for when he's not wearing his Rolex.

Darrell Tuttle good advice I wear an old datejust thunderbird from the 90s and love having the watch winder for days I’m not wearing it
@Tobi-cb7vb
@Tobi-cb7vb 4 года назад
Why put it in a winder and put all that unnecessary wear on the movement? The best thing one can to to a watch when he’s not wearing it, is letting it rest. Just keep that in mind.

Congratulations - Even though that company let him go I have to pay my respect to a business that still gives there long time employees a genuine Rolex as a anniversary gift. It shows class on the buisness and respect for the employee. A fine Swiss timepiece is a great gift to mark a special event in someone's life and career. This Gentleman truly has earned this Rolex and I hope he wears it proudly then passes it down for the next generation of his family to wear - And I hope the tradition will continue indefinitely. Just remember to get it cleaned and serviced by a reputable and highly skilled watchmaker that uses 100% genuine Rolex parts approximately every 5 years or as realistically needed or warranted.

i would say that the most iconic rolex is the submariner but nice watch wear it in good health
@ZCT808
@ZCT808 8 лет назад
+xxDrCsterxx Well then you'd be wrong. The DateJust pre-dates the Submariner by almost a decade, to this day outsells the Submariner, and was the first self winding watch with a date.
@xxDrCsterxx
@xxDrCsterxx 8 лет назад
ZCT808 what is the most faked watch in the world? submariner. I've had people call out my sub from seeing the bracelet alone. Submariner is most often the word after rolex, and is the benchmark for dive watches even today. Just because it's the first doesn't make it more iconic. The f series ford was around way before the mustang, but the mustang is the most iconic car ford makes.
@ZCT808
@ZCT808 8 лет назад
xxDrCsterxx How would you or anyone else know which watch is the most faked? The whole point about counterfeit watches is they are illegal copies. It's not like they get them COSC certified or anything. I'm just saying that the DateJust outsells the Submariner by quite a wide margin and has for years. As for the Ford, it depends who you ask. I was just in Nebraska last week, they have entire dealerships that sell nothing but Ford trucks. I'm thinking if you asked someone living around there, they'd answer the F-150. In any case, this is a pointless discussion, and we're done.
@xxDrCsterxx
@xxDrCsterxx 8 лет назад
ZCT808 LOL its a known fact, ask any wis and they will tell you the same thing. Sure maybe one state but ask someone around the world what they think of when you say ford, the overwhelming response will be mustang. As i own both watches i can say the sub gets far more recognition from people off the street.

Ugly outer case, cheap ugly green inner case- just a horrible overall presentation of what should be something special. Rolex for the money you are asking for can't you at least give decent packaging? Really? Is that too much to ask. I would be embarrassed to present that to somebody.
@LordDavid04
@LordDavid04 8 лет назад
+mac daddy Omegas have the white outer box with Omega logo and the red inner case (some have the ribbon type, others use the older grey colour scheme) Personally, I don't mind Rolex's use of green, but if you're forking out 5,000+ on a Rolex watch brand new, the box could have been lacquered wood. The outer box I don't mind, since Omega is essentially the same.
@ZCT808
@ZCT808 8 лет назад
+mac daddy Perhaps you've never seen a real one. The packaging is not cheap or nasty in real life. Also, once you've opened it, you carefully put the box and papers away in a safe place and never look at them again. Are you really willing to pay an extra $300 for the watch so that it comes in expensive packaging you look at only once? Or would you rather the money go into the actual timepiece?
@bigmacdaddy1234
@bigmacdaddy1234 8 лет назад
ZCT808 I was given one as a gift and I happily sold it. Horrible ugly green box, cheap wipe cloth, crappy certificate and a watch that couldn't keep good time. I am happy its gone.
@ZCT808
@ZCT808 8 лет назад
+mac daddy This conversation is descending into stupidity here dude. First off, why are you so hung up about the fucking box? You buy a watch, take it out of the box, put the box away, and never look at it again until you sell the watch. If I spend $10K on a Rolex, some of that money goes to the retail, some goes to Rolex. Do I want them to invest as much of my money as possible on a box, or the watch? Or do I want to pay $500 more for a fancy box? Secondly, you're going to whine about a 'cheap wipe cloth' in a free Rolex you were allegedly given? What a dick! Someone gives you a free Rolex and you whine about the wipe cloth? Thirdly, I'm not sure what 'certificate' you are referring to. Rolex watches come with a warranty card, not a 'certificate.' And finally, Rolex watches are COSC certified as Chronometers. Since July of last year, they don't even leave the factory if they can't hit -2 to +2. I've only owned two, but they kept perfect time. I'm wearing one right now, supremely accurate. You're either lying, or you were given some old junker that needed service, or a fake. Because honestly, if your appraisal of Rolex were common, they would not have become the powerhouse they are today, putting out a million watches that people happily pay big money for.
@TheDaringPastry1313
@TheDaringPastry1313 8 лет назад
+mac daddy I personally like the green box and it is well made. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but lets not be rude about getting that opinion across.

Sadly giving extravagant gifts like this for years of service has become almost nonexistent with companies these days. Your Dad will enjoy this lovely watch for many many years. The DateJust is the iconic Rolex in my opinion. Your Dad made the perfect choice. May he enjoy it to the fullest! It's an absolutely beautiful timepiece! A Rolex can last several lifetimes if taken care of and serviced every 10 years or so. Congratulations to your Dad on making the 35 years and his beautiful gift! He was let go because of a slow down and he has a high salary. They could fire an older person, get someone with some experience, and then pay that person way less.

The oil patch is a boom and bust industry. If he was at big red for 35 years there's a good chance it wasn't his first layoff. If he made it through the 80s and early 2000s thats impressive.
