I like how refreshing this video is compared to those people "repairing" PCs without making diagnosis and just slapping new hardware on top in yhe hopes of fixing it

Great content! Enjoyed the troubleshooting. I recently had a newly built PC refusing to POST the second time (booted okay the first time). The debug leds were solid red on cpu and blinking on dram. Ended up removing one of the RAM sticks for it to boot. Eventually replaced both sticks with a different brand and has worked flawlessly so far.

The 24 pin cable on the old PSU is very thick considering the unit quality.

Haha! I was wondering if someone would notice! That wasn’t the reason a CPU light was on or it failing to boot though. Good eye!

I guess that PSU is too old. Also have the same symptom, but on the GPU. It would POST and boot into Windows, but once start to do 3D games, the PC will turn off by itself.

Yeah that definitely sounds like a dying PSU or one that is not of enough wattage to keep the system powered under load.

@@PCTechHustle What did the tester tell you? The 5v rail was no bueno? looks like the 12v was working fine in the video, would be interested to know what failed in that PSU. I have had a tester for over a decade since I have been building and troubleshooting PC's the last 20+ years.

Ahhahhahhahahhaaaaa!!!! What a power sucker!!!! Exactly in October i had a huge headache with an old case (~2000+/-) switching my PC off. The first suspect was the PSU of cheap design and 80mm fan inside. To my amusement that was the POWER BUTTON in the CASE!!! it was old and started shorting thus triggering the system shutdown. But God it was sucking my blood for the whole 3 days until I found the problem. Of course a new a cheap PSU~20$ was purchased, and of course it was shutting down until I discovered the button problem.

I thought for a second that is what I was running into as well. I’ve heard of people having that cable deteriorate or fray open and cause a short. Mine didn’t look that way and I did actually end up buying a cheap in-line PSU tester. The PSU was in-fact the issue after all.
