👍 it's the long game that matters, if there are certain numbers along the way that disappoint that's ok your improving health is what the long game is actually about. Be encouraged, stay in the game, keep going forward 👍

I just came across your channel and found this video very encouraging. I keep attempting carnivore, but then fail after a few weeks and go back to the sugar but anxiety has taken over my life so much and I need something to help change and your account of how it has helped you so much has really encouraged me to go back to it. How long did it take you to notice the changes in your mental health?

Hi David, thanks for your kind words. I hope you get the desired results of your mental health journey. For me, I started around April 1. Was watching Dr. Jason Fung for weight loss and intermittent fasting. His work motivated me to pursue fasting as a method for weight loss. In the first week, I did 16 hr fast then like every 2 to 4 days, I would gradually up the fasting time, say like 4 hours to 6 hours. After like a week or two, something clicked on my mind especially when I'm doing long fasts like 24 to 48 hours. My initial fast to those period felt like a surge of energy and my brain fog just disappeared. And seeing the results of my weight loss plus the benefits of fasting, I felt that I could reclaim my mental health again especially upon discovering Dr. Christopher Palmer's work on Brain Energy and the YT channel metabolic mind. My bad thoughts gradually disappeared in several days, say like 4 to 5 days into it doing intermittent fasting AND carnivore. In my opinion, the two work well because carnivore makes you full enough to last you long to fast. My longest fast thus far has been 50 hours. It definitely gets easier once you practice it. Of course everyone is different so keep at it at your own pace. Me sometimes, I still eat McDo or KFC, but I do that knowing full well that I may have to fast longer after that AND that I choose to have those instead of crave them. The way I look at carnivore and fasting is that they're tools to liberate you from depending or overrelying on food. I want to be able to say to myself, "I eat because I choose to, not because I have to." This mindset keeps me resilient in choosing carefully which foods I eat because I always get reminded that I eat to live, not live to eat. But yeah, to answer your question, fasting and carnivore diet, I saw the benefits to my mental health and weight loss within several days / within a few weeks, and that's mainly because I cut the carbs and sugar down to zero. And whenever I do eat a bit of carbs and sugar, I don't get cravings like I used to due to fasting. Fasting helped me control my hunger, in that I'm not always hungry anymore. I eat when I want to. I hope this helped you in some way. I hope you get the results you're looking for. Thanks for watching my little video. Keep me posted. Thanks David!

@@billybpoon Thank you for your reply Billy. I have started to do the intermittent fasting this week, and am currently doing around 19 or 20 hours. I will start trying to up the length of my fast and hope to get up to 48 hours within 2-4 weeks. I'm still eating a few carbs this week, so I guess I'm keto now, but am hoping to go full carnivore starting next week. I've put on about 36 kg and I'm hoping if I get some of that off then I'll be able to feel better. I've gotten to where I become extremely anxious leaving the house and especially in car and I'm really hoping that carnivore, fasting, and cutting out caffeine will help restore my peace of mind. Thank you for your kindness, and I wish you the best in your journey also.

@@davidpittman9059 For sure man! I hope you get to your desired weight goal. Truly difficult feeling anxious and unable to go out. I've been there too, but with proper diet, it'll definitely nudge you in the right and healthy mindset and gradually, you'll feel better, more energized, sharper and confident too. It also helps to have a friend or two to talk with. I feel better going out to eat with friends after a long fast, very fulfilling socially and nutritionally. Otherwise, I also found that watching RU-vid videos about what I'm currently doing, fasting, carnivore diet, helps a lot or joining social media groups of carnivore and fasting because it reminds me of what I can do to achieve my desired state, thinking that with time and a lil effort, I can do this. So far, I know of Dr. Jason Fung (fasting), Dr. Eric Berg (keto and eggs), Dr. Ken Berry (carnivore), and Dr. Christopher Palmer (metabolic, mental health). These four have been the pillars of my weight loss and mental health journey. My subscribers also say I look into Dr. Ede, which I will too. Anyways, at least for me, after understanding fasting and carnivore and ketosis, it gave me the realization that I can reclaim my weight, giving me a realistic action plan, which is better than hope because I know it's actionable, and I wish the same for you that you reach your weight goal. Carpe diem! Keep me posted, David! Until next time.💪
