Had discectomy twenty years ago. They kept me in the hospital for two days due to the travel distance going home. I am now scheduled for a laminectomy in two weeks from now. Have a pre-op physical scheduled with my primary and need a clearance from my cardiologist (have artificial aortic valve and had an aortic aneurysm repaired in 2019.) while doing the MRI and CTs they found another aortic aneurysm in the renal area

I had a discectomy 2.5 years ago. I knew right out of surgery they made it worse. I dried to get into another surgeon a year ago but couldnt work anymore and lost my insurance. In march i had laminectomy and fusion surgery from L4-S1. The recovery has been brutal but it feels like theres room in my spine for the nerve now. I wish i wouldve measured myself before surgery. It could just be that my posture is better but i feel quite a bit taller now. They replaced the discs with spacers to spread my spine back apart. I was about 6'1" when i was younger so i was fairly tall but since my spine had gotten worse the last 5+ years ive felt like i was more average height wise.

I go for my second tomorrow A reherniated disc same area L4-L5 and the laminectomy helped L5-S1 . So I did two levels . Let’s go !!! Give me a update on you mate . The brick feeling slowly went away 75% on my 6th week i was Sitting on a low chair I tried to get up and boom Couldn’t move back grabbed me That was the reherniated Oh I had a double laminectomy Single discectomy Tom is just a discectomy

Hope everything went well with your second surgery. My back is as close to 100% as it could be. No big issues, I’m actually quite surprised. How are you doing?

@@DadTalk it reherniated the second operation too but only on the left side . So pain in the left calf and knee and back pain but more tolerance with a lot of strength training and stretching but everything light . I can not hold A job as I can’t stand too long ect I had a nerve block injection which helped immensely 4 months ago and still has not worn off so I’m happy . Also the herniated disc is half the size of the first and second . So at the end of the day I’m better off then before I even had surgery but still mate not good , some days I just can’t move and stay home in bed but it’s all about strengthening it and moving , walking stretching and Pilates . I want to come to the USA and get a discectomy it’s called disc SEEL where they seal the hole after removing the bone fragment ( disc and prevents a relapse ) after that you go straight to South America and get stem cell to regenerate the level and prevent a relapse . Only thing is that I have a criminal record and have served a few years in jail when I was playing up in my late 20’s . I’m now 35 and have been in no trouble since . Anyway I’m glad you are ok , so happy for you mate . Be careful and stretch don’t put on too much weight and don’t lift heavy shit

The hardest part is getting out of bed and on my feet. My parents are taking care of me. I’m not married, I’m 39 years old and I feel somewhat guilty cuz they’ll bury me trying to lift/help me

I’m 5 days post opp. I’m in intense pain. How exactly did u lie down? I have to sleep on my side with a pillow in between my legs. That’s the stage I’m at now. All of the percs they prescribed me are gone and the docs are playing phone tag in regards to my prescription. The pain feels endless at this point.

If you're watching this and have had a discectomy, let me know how your recovery was. It's fascinating how different it is for everyone. Thanks for watching!

I had a discectomy 2 weeks ago. Did you experience numbness before surgery. If so did it get better after surgery? I'm still experiencing numbness down both legs after 2 weeks and it's driving me insane 😜

@@kaelindejesus6670 same here. Only numbness in my left foot. How’s your recovery going? I had my MD on 9/16/22

@@ShivamPatel-xs7vg 👋🏼 hello thank you for responding. I now have less numbness depending on my activity the numbness becomes noticable. I'm guessing the nerve is still in the process of healing. My doctor said it takes 1 year for the nerve to fully heal so I am very hopeful that I will fully recover. How are you doing so far?
@ShivamPatel-xs7vg
@ShivamPatel-xs7vg Год назад
@@kaelindejesus6670 thanks for the reply. I still have numbness post 6 week but I heard the same. The nerves need time heal. Can’t tell if I am getting used to it or if it is actually healing. I get these light vibrations and sensations in my foot. No pain at all. Do you feel anything similar?
@kaelindejesus6670
@kaelindejesus6670 Год назад
@@ShivamPatel-xs7vg yes I feel a similar sensation but it's not as intense. I still have pain that comes and goes in my inner left thigh. I was given a back brace after surgery. I do notice the brace helps me out quite a lot especially when I'm active. If I am active without the brace especially if I bend a lot my numbness is more noticeable.

How are you feeling a year later?

I’m actually feeling pretty good. I can run and do pretty much anything. The only activity that seems to bother my back is jumping on a trampoline for more than a few minutes. I’m far better than I thought I’d be. Never expected to feel this close to 100% ever again
