As someone who can't have my dog run with me anymore, this brought a tear to my eye, there's literally nothing better than sharing a bike ride with your dog, cherish it while you can. Go Maya ❤️
Ah man, sorry to hear that! Definitely enjoying being out together while we can but also not pushing too hard so hopefully she can shred for a long time! - Jason
😢I hear you. My 13 year old Shiba has shared many a ride with me now he can’t keep up and struggles with steeps, he learned so well and was so much fun, we can still hike, I can’t wait to train a border collie to trail ride😊
Riding with my dog was how I got into mountain biking! I was looking for a way to tire her out and landed on mountain biking. 13 years later it’s been a great journey but sadly had to put her down last year. Her hips were causing her issues from all that running but I wouldn’t change it for the world and I know she wouldn’t either. 13 years is a great life so I’m super thankful. Hopefully, you have just as long with yours.
Absolutely love the videos, love the bike and love the dog… cant wait to get back out on the slash this spring Hopefully i can try a new fuel ex this spring
Great video. Unfortunately the X3 video is just not up to par with current video standards. You can clearly see the difference between your true 4k video and the upscaled X3 video. For this camera or any other 360 camera to be used for professional content creators it needs to be at least produce 4k 60 fps video when reframed. This would mean the cam would need to shoot 2, 4k videos (front and rear cam). Most action cams currently can shoot 6k 120 fps. I don’t know that the 360 cameras can catch up. By the time they can shoot 4k 60 fps , 8k 60 will be standard. I personally would opt for a larger physical size 360 camera that shoots 4k 60 (reframed) instead of a smaller cam that produces 1080p 30 fps. But there is more market with for vloggers who produce content for phones then content for 4k screens. Thus I don’t think they will catch up any time soon.
Agreed. I don't enjoy watching this 360 videos. Lower quality footage and I personally do not enjoy the overly distorted point of view. It is interesting for a few seconds but more than that it is not pleasant to watch. Insta360 is definitely doing a good job of poaching creators away from GoPro. Too bad. I think a dedicate GoPro is better at capturing MTB POV footage.
The nice thing about the X3 is that it's single lens mode is 4k and looks very, very good. I'm not sure why Jason didn't use that setting for this, but oh well, I enjoyed it either way!
Did you have to train her to be so good off leash or was it just natural for her to wanna stick around? My dog would be running into the sunset to start a new life if I ever let him off leash.
Haha! A little bit of both. She was pretty naturally good when she was young but we spent a good amount of time working on recall and sticking to the trail. - Jason
I have a 2 year old Border Collie & I exercise him around the neighborhood on my bike every morning. Usually he’s strapped with bungee cord since he cannot control himself when he sees other livestock. I used to run with him but since I can no longer run average 11mph for 1/2hr I do this every morning. Haven’t taken him out in MTB trails yet but seems pretty cool
You've done it now; Beautiful Daughter already asks every few days if you have a new video; when she finds one that includes bikes and dogs, I think she may explode...
Honestly, i worship the perfection and grace Animals have. They live life on natures terms. They are just like us but have no Ego! We are insane and believe what our minds tell us?? And the human mind didnt evolve to lead us! It is a tool designed to help us navigate the natural world!
Ride with a dog make a dog so happy and his owner too👌 Mine in the first ride was looking at me like... Oh we can run together now?!😄 And I got an Altitude powerplay that goes 32kph she better get ready to commute!😎
I cannot leave my dog behind no way her face ! She brings her ball as well and she’s great for camera shots as I ride past , the pov is not up for much maybe slomo 🙃🙏
Just curious, how many miles can you and your dog ride on average? I can imagine the descents really take it out of him, but do you ever notice callouses or blisters on the paws? Does she hit a ceiling at a certain point?
It always depends on trail choice, temperature, etc but on average I'd say no more than 4-5 miles. I try to choose trails that aren't super hard pack, full of features, or super busy as well. Hope that helps! - Jason
With a trail dog does she want to come with you every time she see’s you get the bike out? I’m looking for a trail dog but worried every time I grab the bike it will think it will be going as well and some rides don’t allow dogs
