Today the dogs are doing to Mackinac Island where they will see horses, and many other fun things! It's a dog vlog adventure dog day! Mackinac Island is located in northern Michigan on Lake Huron, and is an island only accessible by a ferry boat ride! The dogs get to ride on the ferry, and then hike all over the island!
Join us and our dogs as we take a trip to Mackinac Island! This beautiful destination is the perfect place for a dog-friendly vacation, with plenty of parks and trails to explore.
We'll take a ferry ride over to the island and spend the day checking out all it has to offer. From the historic Fort Mackinac to the stunning views from the Grand Hotel, there's something for everyone (including our four-legged companions).
Don't forget to bring plenty of treats and water for your dog, as well as a leash to keep them safe and under control. And don't worry if you need a break from the sun - there are plenty of dog-friendly patios and restaurants where you can rest and grab a bite to eat.
So come along on this adventure as we discover all that Mackinac Island has to offer with our dogs joining in on the fun!

What a lovelyl trip! Cracked me up when you called the horses "big dogs" My daughter's husky SO wanted to play with the Bison on her recent trip to the Black Hills lol! Got a little scary when she came across a Bison a little closer than she expected. Riku was all for it, but thankfully she was able to restrain him and live to tell the tale lol!

I went to the island once in the early 1980's. I don't recall staying in overnight somewhere. I think my Dad (my Mom didn't drive) made the round trip from Metro Detroit and back in one day.

Mackinac is a very cool place to visit. I went there on two separate occasions when my National Guard unit trained up in Grayling. I really do miss it and would love to go back someday. Looks like the girls loved it as well. Does anybody ever recognize them? Looks like they were all tuckered out at the end! 😂

This video was never posted on this channel. As I said in the video, the longer vlogs of this trip are on our Vlog channel ru-vid.com This video was meant to go out in June, but I never got around to it, and I didn't want to not post this version of this trip and the story. Normally the audience wants more content all the times! This was meant to be a little story, and compact version of the trip, with quite a few clips that were not in the vlog. So regardless, we hope you enjoyed it!

Ferry isn’t the only way to get to Mackinac Island. You can also get there by private boat and use the marina.

If you want to get really technical you can also fly in on an airplane or Take a snow machine in the winter time or walk across the ice bridge in the winter time. But generally you take the ferry to get to Mackinac Island when you are tourist.

We took Sheplers too because my family has been taking Sheplers for years. We have a cabin from 1965 it’s right off of Lake Michigan.

Would you ever take your bikes with you on a trip to the island? And in winter is it possible to sled on the island? Or do the ferries not run in winter?

We could take our bikes, but since we use recumbent trikes with the dogs, they take up more space on the trails and road, we probably wouldn't take them. Ferries run for part of the winter. But I don't think we would take the dog sled up here.

Horses should be free. It's disgusting to see those poor horses having to work to pull all of those people in the hot sun. The carriages are huge and for those people to sit on their fat backsides while those poor horses pull them is just disgusting.
