Prince Naveen is not black. He is Indian. His name is Indian and if you look at the scene where he is marrying Tiana, his mother is wearing a sari, which is a traditionally dress in India
@@tbphillips9649 if someone were to make Tiana white in the live action remake, people would be mad and they have every reason to be. Naveen is the only south east Asian Disney character. Taking that away from an entire community who only has him for representation in all the Disney movies there ever existed, is rude.
@@tbphillips9649 You said he was Brazilian. No he isn't. The character is not Brazilian, the voice actor is. There have been so many instances where the voice actor has been a different race from the actual character that they are voicing over.
you know amy, anytime someone calls attention to diversity in movies, it ultimately undermines the concept of diversity by implying that this is an exception and not the status quo.
@@shahirali1662 prince naveen is ethnically south asian, seen from his moms clothes as well as his name, but since he has a slight french/spanish accent (i really cant tell im sorry) and comes from maldonia, it could be something similar to maldives or mauritius, where the people have south asian (indo-aryan?) ethnic features but speak european languages like french or spanish, similar to how many haitians speak french (if my info is incorrect im sorry these r all guesses from my general knowledge)
I’d still prefer we didn’t get a live action remake of this movie. But if we do, Keith HAS to reprise his role. Shadow dude just isn’t the same without the voice.
It’s kinda sad how a lot of people who make these are taking away the south Asian representation that princess and the frog had or even claiming it never existed
The guy who created prince Naveen said multiple times that he was racially disambiguous and actually designed to look Arab, Black and Indian because originally he was supposed to be white with blond hair- Producers wouldn't greenlight a black prince. So instead Naveen doesn't have a set race- it was the designers way of pushing back and giving him a non white look. Naveen being casted as black would be amazing since they were scared of a black Disney couple but l'm ok with Naveen Being Indian Black or Arab. Copy and pasted this comment
Not dove imo. She just wouldn’t fit the character specifically I feel and I think besides she’s wanting to move on from being seen just in Disney shows and movies anymore
He doesn’t look like Aladdin imo.He ain’t Indian so wouldn’t make sense. Nor was actor for Aladdin Indian but imo Mena Massoud was an amazing fit for Aladdin. I’m just hoping they can actually get an Indian actor IF they do this live action (cause imo I don’t want it live action all you see are frogs lol)
Honestly if I could only choose one member of the original cast to reprise their role, it would have to be John Goodman, there's just so much warmth to him and he still looks like Big Daddy.
I really love your art style and i really do miss the show it really taught me a lot about friendship and people when at the time i didnt have any friends so i really owe the show my life lol but yes my favorite ship would have to be 💜🧡
the little mermaid is my absolute favorite Disney movie of all time. I have the Mickey ears, I have the shirt, I was in the play, I have the original film script book, I saw it on Broadway, I have the stuffies, I know every single word to every single song. When I heard they were making I live action I didn’t know how to feel. I grew up watching the original ALL THE TIME. when I saw the trailer my heart dropped. Ariel is such a sentimental character to me, and to see her look completely different hits me hard. Halle Bailey ( I think that’s how you spell it, sorry if not ) is absolutely beautiful don’t get me wrong, shes just, you know, not Ariel. I know it’s very inspirational to young girls of that race to see Ariel that way, but it’s just not the same. I would love to see a new black princess, but not in this way. these stories are classics, we need to keep them that way.
Ya very true, my grandpa's favorite Disney movie was The Little Mermaid, but he passed away before the trailer for the new Little Mermaid came out, and when my grandma saw the trailer she was NOT happy, and she was all saying how grandpa would have hated the new movie because it wasn't the original, and I completely agree with you about this, it's not right to change something like that, especially when it's changing the race of the main character(and no I'm not racist, I do have Hispanic family) when the kids see this trailer of it their gonna be really confused on why shes not the right race.
Someone mentioned Johnny Depp for Dr facilier and I kinda support that. Johnny is known to play wacky, odd characters he will bring something new to the character.
Naveens accent is South American tho from like Portugal or Brazil. Also naveen being in love with jazz African American culture is very Brazilian, in Brazil African culture is very popular from music to spirituality (voodoo) but his definitely ambiguous for sure, he could be mixed
*You know what, as inclusive Disney is becoming, let's made Tiana lesbian and NativeAmerican, because why not, right, is time, if you can change races to the other characters like Snow White and The Little Mermaid*
Awwwww I thought this was the real cast, it seems so legit. This should definitely be the cast listing for the movie. Loving dove camaron as charlotte as well ❤
You need to do a google search, because 1) no they are not 2) He literally just said in the video that Tina’s mom was voiced by Oprah and the person he picked for the life action isn’t Oprah.
There’s a difference Tiana is inspired by a women named Leah chase who was a African American chef in New Orleans and like Tiana she faced racism and wanted a restaurant and helped the movement for mlk
People are like after all these race swaps 👀 what race swaps😂 Mulan was Asian, Cinderella was white, aurora was white too a bunch of drama queens a bunch of old hags, evil step children in the comments 😂😂😂😂😂
I would love to have the original cast to return as their roles in the live action of the princess and the frog after all they all look like the characters they did the role of in the original movie
