My DREAM home library ~ over 500 books ~ Bookshelf organisation

This came out so well! 😊 I need a ton more shelves. II have about 300+ bks in huge tote bags, books in my clothes drawers, books in large decorative boxes, 2 libraries carts in livingrm for TBR. A small shelf in pantry and one in bedroom. Books on end table and bedtable. Used to have my own home. People said it looked like a library and Tea Room. Had to move into tiny 1 bdrm. apt. Intend to get rid of all craft tools, machines, paints, anything to do w/ crafts ( pretty much). My health changed drastically and I am unable to craft as I ennoyed. Always have been an avid reader, so will turn into a nice library like yours. I separate similar to you. Genre, author. My poetrybks. go from fave on down. Very few non-fiction so they go by author alphabettically.. Middlegrade on bottom of TBR cart. That art I rearrange often... my mood. I DO have a small plant in my cart! My dream is like yours just completed. I would love to see a COMPLETED tour!! Thank you!!

I sort mostly by author surname, with the exceptions being some series that have multiple authors (wh40k specifically). I also put the books I've already read back on the shelf with the spine inwards, because it helps me see what I've got left to read.

I love this so much!! It was so soothing and perfect to watch. I tend to organize by read and unread, and usually genre and then usually by vibes- especially if they are a genre crossing! 📚

Love the book organization and how you shelved everything! I organize my books around genres and themes too, but also have to group some of my favorite books together ☺ I just put together a bigger book shelf in my office and just seeing all the books it can hold brought me so much serotonin. 🥰

I love watching organisation videos, your shelves are beautiful 😍📚 My fantasy and sci-fi shelves are organised by genre and then by height, then I have a separate shelving unit in the living room for my contemporary fiction, romances etc which are mostly organised by colour 🥰

I do different books face out for different seasons like Fall I do my witches books and Stephen king then Christmas I put my Christmas books out etc

It looks wonderful!!!! How exciting to have room to spread out all your books. My bookshelves are, and undoubtedly will remain, stuffed. They are, however, organized. I like how you divided everything up. The only thing I was surprised at was that your YA was separate instead of mixed in with whatever genre it falls into - mystery, fantasy, etc. Some YA is really "new adult", some fall squarely in the teen category, and others really read more like a Middle Grade. I used to have the YA separate but now it's merged with whatever genre it falls into, though Middle Grade is still separate. I have my Sci-fi fantasy all together and then alphabetical by first letter. Ditto for mysteries and thrillers. Second ditto for general fiction. I'd really love to sub-organize my general fiction, putting things like speculative and magical realism, dark academia, historical... and so on, together, but like you mentioned with fantasy, there's so much overlap. I do have other genres shelved together - nonfiction (by topic), faeries, seasonal books, myth and folklore, ghost stories, classics.... etc. I'd do more but my home, lovely as it is, is not set up to have much wall space so until I can work out the science behind the Tardis, I can't think of where else to fit shelving.

It looks lovely! Congrats again on your new place. As i read in a few different languages, i organise them by language first and within them, i move them around until i'm happy with how it looks. I don't own that many books, so i don't really need to break it down further

I love the shelf setup ❤ it’s making me want to redo mine.I try to split up my books by genre and for fantasy and sci-fi I also have some split by sub genre just because I don’t have a ton of shelf space and they’re all scattered throughout my apartment so I atleast want the sub genres together to keep it organized. I have all my tbr books separate though which I like because I can see if my book buying is getting out of control lol but it does mean a lot of reorganizing once I’ve read them. I would love an in-depth tour video and I’m excited to see the moving vlog and the new filming setups 🎉🎉

📚 A great way to start the week. Your home library looks gorgeous. I am pretty boring with my organisation of books. At the moment they are just in stand-alone and series piles. I only have two bookshelves so I can't keep more books than will fit on those but it is my dream to have a house where I can put as many books as I like on shelves.

I organised my shelves my genre and my romance and contemporary I organised by colour additionally as it flowed better somehow. But I’ve always organised by genre. I have around 200 books so not as much to organise

Lovely counting I reached 206 English books rather than 7000 Arabic and French as I am an author. I do organize my bookshelves alphabetically from first name author and family name, I could not do it by genre because I don't have so much space, I ordered three bookshelves this summer and they cost me fortune, I could not fill my home with bookshelves due to a little house but I am happy with my harvest until now because here in Lebanon are so expensive from 8 Dollars to 12 which mean every dollar 1 USD = 98.000 Lebanese Pounds which so expensive for us.😢
