I started with a Stomp XL because I knew I'd be frustrated having only 3 stomp buttons, so I didn't mind the larger size of the XL. The step up in price was a bit much, especially since there just aren't a lot of pre-owned HX Stomp XLs to be found. Recently added a Powercab 112 Plus in FRFR mode. It's great for those times when I'm not in my bedroom and can't use my 100 watt per channel home theater amp, large speakers, and 12 inch subwoofer. Someday I might get another Powercab 112 for stereo.
I’m an “acoustic” guitar player of advanced age in my second stint on the worship team now at a small expansion branch of our main church. I have watched many of your videos and thanks to you, I have learned about key pedals. I recognize that you as an electric guitar player are intent on educating other worship leaders on teams, methods, pedals and tones. As a worship leader how about a video on enhancing / optimizing the acoustic guitar. In His grip. Thanks
I’ve been entertaining the idea of building nearly the exact same board. Almost every pedal you have here is what I had in mind! Thank you for posting this vid. I absolutely benefited from it.
I might ditch the Pirate 6 and just use the HX Stomp in Snapshot mode and let it handle most of the MIDI work. Leave the Pirate 4 to handle the on/off for the Kernom and the Bloom if you don't want to step to the back row. Sweet board though, just seems a little too redundant lol.
I’d recommend a Walrus Audio Canvas DI or similar to have option for both XLR or 1/4 out of the Stomp and into the patch bay from the thru jacks on the DI and that’s one way to use the other two 1/4 jacks. You can also use a trs to trs cable for the headphone jack on the stomp to one of the patch bay jacks
Carry the expression pedal. Drop it on the floor next to the board and plug it into the B4. I like my expression better on the floor anyway. It's easier to reach that way.
Off topic but I just wanted to thank you for a video you did talking about your reverend guitar. I had never heard of that company until I came across one of your videos. I picked up a Double agent og man I’m blown away by the versatility of this guitar.i had a Gibson studio and prs ce 24 in the past . And the Double agent og reminds me of both of those guitars having a baby lol sounds amazing.thanks again and great video hope you have a blessed day.
I literally have both of those guitars right now and was entertaining a new guitar to fit in the middle of those two. I take it you’d recommend that Double Agent?
@@scottmcleod1470Nice, if you can give it a try I would recommend it but everyone has different likes. But I will say I am beyond happy with the OG and it’s versatility.
Hey Jimmy, just a heads up for you. That MOD3 patchbay has TRS jacks, so you can use a TRS cable to run to the headphone out of the HX Stomp XL and then plug your headphones in at the patchbay instead of fussing about with the jack on back of the HX Stomp XL. Cheers, love the vids!
@@HeyWorshipLeader Anytime. I have a few clever ways I plan on using my own MOD3 patchbay in my pedalboard with the TRS jacks, Y splitter cables and a DI box. I just wanted to say again thanks for the videos, you’re a huge inspiration for me. I’m planning my own Hx stomp mini board video once I get the final piece of gear (lol). Inspired by you and some of the other great RU-vid channels.
id have the expression pedal separate from the board, that way you can position it where you want it and it gives you four more footswitches to work with and its small enough to stow without too much trouble
Super helpful video as someone who’s trying to dial in my new board. Do you consult / help at all? This is a bit newer to me but it sounds like you’ve got it nailed.
Thanks for the great videos! I'm just curious about the signal chain in the "HX STOMP". Since there are all the key pedals (e.g. OD, Dist, Reverb/Delay, etc.), what's the role of the HX STOMP?
Great video, so pleased so see you using the rock board and Kernom ridge - great options. How did you choose between the Rockboard patch bay options? The XLR outputs seem to only be helpful if you have a DI on the board?
The HX Stomp XL has balanced TRS outputs for left and right channels. You can make or buy a cable to convert from balanced TRS to XLR. Then you can connect to the patch bay XLR. I have 2 short cables that convert from balanced TRS to XLR male, and 2 short cables that convert from balanced TRS to XLR female. I also bought 2 long XLR cables that are male at one end and female at the other. Then I can connect to balanced TRS or XLR at either end of the long XLR cables. The HX Stomp XL can easily convert between mic and line level via menu.
A work of art and sounds fantastic. Count me in as a sub. One thing I would have liked to know (even just with on screen text like you sometimes used), is what other pedals were on when you were demoing one particular pedal. Also, I’m assuming you weren’t stacking gain stages, in the demo, correct?
Question on the jailbreak preset. Not that your patches are bad cause believe me your patches are good, i love even just listening to your videos, dreaming of when i get the pod go once i can find myself a job(been trying for months now i just can't get a response) but if i wanted to use someone elses patch along with your jailbreak, could i do that somehow?
Hey, I have a question… I just bought an HX Stomp and I’m trying to figure out the signal flow without messing it up 😰. I am going to implement the signal flow through the fax loop and add some delays and reverbs as well. At minute 9:18, you stated that you are going through all of your delays and reverbs and “back in”. My question is, back in to the output of the pedalboard itself? Or back to the HX Stomp?? Thank you for the video!!
your setup is similar to mine but I run my ODs in the loop so I can add effects before them, and I use delay and reverb from the stomp, did you test with the polycapo before the ODs? to me it sounded best with that before the ODs
Hey brother. Loving the videos. This is Jason with Lee Park Worship. Do you have an email I could contact you through? Ive desperately need some input on how to run my board best. Ive been in Worship but am finally graduating from my long time friend I call " the Lincoln" which is an X3 live. I have built a board however I think the routing can be tweaked.
Hi I use HX stomp xl with analoq compression, OD and distortion in front of it. The drive pedals sound very different to when I use them without the stomp. Its sounds really fizzy lacking low end.. what can I do???.help needed in Holland.
I've never had that experience...if it's horrible, I'd say something is wrong...or maybe you just need to try different amp settings. I don't think you can clip the HX in the input with pedals...maybe also try switching from line level to instrument or vice versa...maybe use different "warmer" mics
Greetings, I just started watching your streams and they have been very helpful. My question: I'm building a midi pedal board, hx stomp xl and most of the Jet pedals, though I have two non midi pedals (walrus Julianna, and tc electronics pitchfork). I don't know how to add them to my chain and get them to work with my midi controller (pirate bridge 6). I don't really want to get rid of them but use them if there is a way that I can still have them in the midi chain, and toggle them on command. I know that I won't be able to program presets on them since they are not midi, but to toggle is good enough with the controller. Thank you and blessings.
There's def a way but it can get expensive. You'd have to get a midi controlled Loop Switcher: Morningstar: www.morningstar.io/store/ML5-p125258809 Pirate: piratemidi.com/products/µloop-4-ch-bypass-and-midi-interface RJM: shop.rjmmusic.com/mini-effect-gizmo-x-audio-loop-switcher/ Hydra: oscillatordevices.com/produkt-kategorie/hydra/
@HeyWorshipLeader Thank you. I forgot to mention that I have the Jet traffic controller. So would I need lets say ULOOP - 4-CH BYPASS AND MIDI INTERFACE in addition to the Jet traffic controller to make my non midi pedals work? Or is the Jet traffic and the priate bridge 6 enough?
@@jparty8599 You would still need the loop switcher as far as I can tell...the Traffic Control solves a different problem, namely to provide a hub for midi pedals that don't have midi thru
@HeyWorshipLeader are you only able to use an analog pedal with its current settings for any preset that it's included on or can each preset that a particular pedal is active on utilize different settings from that pedal?
@@HeyWorshipLeader ok, do you have other videos talking about this topic? Like important things to incorporate into your pedalboard in order to accommodate different guitars? Or would it be a matter of having a second preset where the amp settings are changed in the Stomp XL?
@@erickdiaz6152 I would have an EQ in the Stomp for changing guitars...or even just the same preset with a different IR. That's a great video idea...might have to work on that one! thanks!
Nice board! Consider using double sided, thick gel tape instead of Velcro. Holds well, reusable, and residue free. I discovered this after dealing with my Temple mounting plates that were nearly impossible to remove.
