Hey, I see this is a year old but I’ve seen a couple of these this year and just want to say thank you sharing your experience. I didn’t know you are a midwife! (Thank you! My daughter had lovely midwives in NZ and I in the US) Your experience gave extra validation to this project. I know that may seem like a lot of responsibility but I need a bit more validation for these “drive” type of things.

Thank you so much for making these beautiful dresses and for helping to spread the word about this wonderful project. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for women and girls who are trafficked, and I can’t begin to imagine how emotional the experience must have been to help and treat them. Thank you.

Thank you, Mari. It's truly heartbreaking, but I'm grateful for the free healthcare service in the UK, so that these young women are able to receive the care needed for them and their babies, including the psychological support after going through such a traumatic experience. Thank you again for making us aware of this wonderful organisation!

Yes, I would like to join in and have been looking for info and asked to join the Facebook group. Thank you for answering my question about what patterns to use. I've never sewn a dress - I'm a quilter, so knowing I can perhaps download a free girls pattern is great! Thanks for the video.

Adorable makes. I love this project. I am a retired psychiatric nurse ( 30 yrs. experience). I live in Texas. On many occasions I would have to admit young, pregnant, teen girls. They all had the same " story". They attempted suicide to keep their babies from being sold ( another income for traffickers) and to get away from their horrible situations. Thank you for making this vlog.

I have a question about pastel frilly printed fabrics for these dresses. In modern society, contemporary girls clothing is frilly with lots of pinks and purples etc.. But how do the women and girls feel in Africa (where many dresses go)? Traditional adult clothing is made with geometric design and darker colors, right? Though I'm sure they appreciate the clothing would darker and less frilly fabrics delight them more?

That's certainly an interesting point. I'm by no means an expert and couldn't really answer that question, but it is something to consider. Not all of the clothes go to Africa, and I know that over the last year many of them were going to Ukrainian refugees. It's probably difficult to pick something that would be "in style" globally. Many sewists use remnants from their own sewing to make dresses, and I believe that any dresses would be appreciated. Good food for thought, though.
