Mine is pretty much the same mate,I do have a few wires in mine too for lever locks, and a definite yes to that Z music wire wrench, the amount of feedback is great off that badboy,My main makes are Sparrows and Dangerfield for pin tumblers and a bloke called Chris Evans for my lever lock wiresI also carry a few non bent wiper inserts incase I need to bend something a bit odd for certain locks :)
Definitely! I have a few kits I keep in my vehicles. I tried shoving it all into one kit and it just became a mess when I would open it at the customers door haha I keep other bypass tools in a cubby if needed. Traveler hook is definitely a must have for a locksmith!
@@LockandKilo literally the first time I ever picked a lock in an official/needed capacity I had to pick it twice, little bastard was tougher the second time hahaaaa
@@kilowhiskyforge4337 yeah, they tend to be that way lol… make sure you buy a quality spinner for the long term! The little one in this video is nice, but depending on how much you use it can wear down and has to be twisted twice. Some locks like to be stubborn on the spin, so to help them I’ll put the keyway as close to 12 o’clock as I can before I spin.
You do what you do, but Top of Keyway tension tools are not optional. There are some locks you can't get a bind unless you use TOK and sometimes it requires TOK to make room to work in the keyway. Wadda I know, I'm just a lock sporter with a year or so but while I still use BOK, I just ordered more TOK cause they work.
I can understand that for Locksport, but this was on my Locksmith EDC kit. In the world of Locksmithing you’ll really only ever need BOK tension. Anything that would require TOK is usually just cut off by the potential customer or a Locksmith who comes across it. Picking as a Locksmith is different as you’ll be on someone else’s time and dollar. A last minute padlock they remember will usually just be cut and replaced to save time. When you have a stacked schedule with appointments each 30 mins to an hour away from each other while squeezing in random lockout calls, you’ll choose the quick option. In the world of Locksport where you’ll challenge yourself on keyways you won’t normally see, TOK would come in handy. It just takes up room in a Locksmith set.
@@LockandKilo You might glossed over something I said. I have found locks that won't bind with BOK tension. They don't pick. Use TOK and they open in seconds. Besides that, some keyways just don't give you much room to work using BOK. If time is the issue, then adding one tiny sliver of metal to your kit isn't that big a deal.
@@WRWhizard to each their own! In nearly a decade as a Locksmith, I’ve never come across a lock that BOK tension didn’t work for a client. In the Locksmith world you don’t spend a lot of time picking locks. You do as the customer asks and usually they want the job done as quickly as possible. By all means, stock your kit with TOK tools! This video shows my own kit and what works for me. Viewers can take from it what they’d like and customize their own kits to their liking. I do carry the Z-bar which can be flipped if needed, but it’s extremely uncommon to pick a common lock with it as a Locksmith. Lock Sport would be a different story.
This is just my EDC pick kit lol I used to pack this thing full, but it got super annoying on night calls to try and dig through it. So, I have a separate case for non-standard picks and tools and I keep some in designated spots on the work truck lol
@@LockandKilo I do. You see, I’m a maintenance manager with my family’s property management company. So I will have to get into places during an eviction. I have ordered a lishi (kw1) and want to play with that. Though sometimes, the snap Gun will not work and I’ll use picks, or I just want to show off to the law enforcement…lol….
@@walterroach8572 definitely! Bump Keys work for me in place of a pick gun, plus it's a lot cheaper as I just make them on-site lol I don't hate the pick guns, I just never had luck with them and I find bump keys work like a charm if I can't get it picked. I have a video number [15] where I show how I get them to work. I put some sets for sale on my Etsy shop for viewers who asked forever for some to practice with lol Evictions I always have my common bump set in my pocket. Usually One or 2 smacks and I am in haha Few of the cops asked me for some sets so they could have them for situations lol Some of them follow the channel to learn a bit.
@@walterroach8572 I appreciate that! The channel is only a few months old, so I started out teaching a couple apprentices and as the channel grew I started aiming to teach newbies. I have a mountain of video requests I am working toward!
