I've never been a huge fan of Leonard's crime novels for some reason, but his early westerns are absolutely brilliant. Also, at the end of Justified, Raylan takes a battered old paperback out of his desk and hands it to his partner, telling him that if he really wants to know how criminals think, he needs to read it. It's a copy of George V. Higgins "The Friends of Eddie Coyle".
Hi Brian, how you feeling now? Are you out of the hospital? I'd hope you're getting better and be back doing what you do best review great books. All the best and God bless.
Mmm this is delicious. I frequent a bookstore here in Boston every week or so. A couple months ago I was starting to look for EL novels but to no avail. Until a few weeks ago... I found a whole stack of EL novels: (The Harper Torch fiction paperbacks like you have) The Switch (finished in two days), Split Images (finished in a week or so, was busy..), Glitz (finished a few minutes ago, took three days.) Now im starting Bandits. Then i am going to read Big Bounce and Unknown Man 89. Then KILLSHOT. After that i will have to find some more!
Good video. Some of the book summaries were off but Elmore was great, that's all they need to know. One major point of correction : Elmore Leonard didn’t write mysteries, he wrote crime novels. The Hot Kid is in Oklahoma of the 1930s.
I have to say I consider myself emotionally "tough" I have read many books and never been brought to tears. But I have to admit I am reading your book "The Forgetting Moon" and there is a particular scene in it that was VERY emotional for me for some reason. It was outstandingly written and I really felt it. Your book is swiftly heading towards the top of my all-time favorites list.
@@B.LEE.DbrianleedurfeeREVIEWS * SPOILERS* The scene where Nail had to "help" Zane because of his injuries. Bear Mug was there and I could really feel the anguish Nail was feeling. For some reason it really got me. trying not to give to many spoilers.
I only have a few of the westerns. Read “Tucker” a coming of age tell. The newer 3:10 to Yuma is one of my favorite movies. Have you read any of the EDGE series by George G Gilman?
