Hello and welcome to my Endometriosis Laparoscopic Excision vlog!
This vlog is to show the process of having the surgery to help treat Endometriosis and I hope it can help as many women as possible out there.
For those that don't know, Endometriosis is where cells similar to the ones in the lining of the uterus grow elsewhere in the body, creating lesions and scar tissue. 1 in 10 women have it and it can cause extreme pain and other symptoms that can sometimes be misdiagnosed as IBS etc. It cannot be cured and it is very under researched and under funded. The reason I wanted to create this vlog was to help raise awareness and help other women with this disease.
I tried my best to film as much as possible to give you a good idea of what the surgery includes but I am aware I have missed some information out so if you have any questions please write them in the comments below or give me a message over instagram (my IG is linked below).
I will be filming an update in 2 months time on how my surgery and healing went so if you do have any questions pop them over to me and I can answer them in that video.

Hello! No worries I'm so glad that it helped you understand more about endometriosis! I've found the best thing for nerves before the lap is just thinking about how it will be so worth it afterwards and hopefully the pain will go for you! Stay strong and I hope it goes well 💖

Hi Scarlet, Hope you're doing well. Thank you for this video, it has been so helpful! I'm going to the same place on 9th Feb for my excision Laparoscopy, but having it with a different surgeon. You mentioned you were working. Can you please confirm if you got a sick note when you were discharged from the hospital and how long it was for? Thank you.

I have endo surgery in Birmingham in 2 days. Getting nervous now, but like you I'm so excited to just hopefully feel normal again. I have a different surgeon though, I'm under Mr Afifi. Start my bowel prep tomorrow! Thanks for the video, was really informative!

Currently waiting for my gynaecologist at the hospital to bring forward my appointment as 3 months ago he said ibs…. But not I have some proof that I’m not going mental 😩

Thanks for sharing your vlog. I have recently had my Umbilical Endometriosis Excision just over two weeks ago. I have gone through all the pain of Pelvis Endometriosis and bleeding from Umbilicus along with multiple needle like pain all around the umbilical. I reported my condition pain and bleeding from Umbilical to my NHS GP, who then sent me for TVS scan. Ofcourse the radiologist/Sonologist could not identify endo in either areas of my overies, pelvis and Umbilical. The report says "no issues detected" 😡😡😡 two weeks after that result I flew overseas to seey parents. Now the actual nightmare occurs. I started bleedingbheacily from umbilical unlike previous bleeding I reported to UK GP. I rushed to a private hospital overseas, they did my scan TVS, pelvis, and Umbilical and found endo everywhere. I was admitted for endo excision, I had to pay for the whole surgery where I had no medical insurance and UK private insurance won't pay for overseas surgeries. I'm physically, mentally and financially drained. My GP now stopped responding, not even giving me telephonic consultation while I recover overseas. For those who are suffering from Chronic pain, please do not rely on one GP, if possible go private and get your conditions detected and excised. Unfortunately there is no treatment for endo, other than surgery.

Just had my first laparoscopy this Friday, NHS, Northwick Park hospital, London, they do let you to stay 1-2 nights if you request that, if you feel more safe to stay under their supervision, the doctor told me to stay more if I want, they found me in stage 3 , so quite advanced, though the scans did not show anything at all....I waited 1 year in the queue, in covid times, so was quite quickly, I heard that before covid, other ladies in UK were waiting even 2 years, so I consider myself lucky. While waiting for the laparoscopy, I had a LETZ last year, that took away a big part of my period pains. The nurses and doctors were good, it is an endometriosis clinic so they operate endometriosis here nearly every day, via NHS , if you can't afford private, like me- I couldn't afford, NHS is good, too, just make sure that the people that treat you have experience with endometriosis. I did not pay for anything, its all for free( well, I pay my annual taxes, like all of us).

It’s so crazy to see the difference with this procedure in the UK vs the US . I had this surgery Friday and it’s so different here .

@@Kaycinee it’s just more studied in the US. Even government insurance docs can use any method they choose for removal of endometrial tissue

@@haley7642 yeah like most of ours are done outpatient so you just go home after so it’s interesting to see people getting their own rooms and stuff . That seems very helpful .

@@Kaycinee I’ve actually heard from many women with endo it’s better o be home in your own bed. It can be emotional getting news either good or bad for most and being there without a medical reason to support it can be hard. I thought the same thing that I’d want to stay until I had my lap and all I wanted to do was go home

Gianina, I hope you are recovering well. I have had my Umbilical Endometriosis Excision two weeks ago and still in enormous pain around the drainage area and the 6inches excision stiches where my Gyno consultant restructured my Umbilical after removing endo.

Hello, the reason they may not recommend surgery is because its on your ovary, it may be too complicated without losing your ovary maybe but I'd definitely get a second opinion. You shouldn't have to live in pain x
