Dude lazily sprayed some expired bug spray on the enclosure before even checking if the spider was still alive, and them didn't even think to get a cloth and some bleach. Hopefully he never finds himself in a situation where the cops are after him because he wouldn't stand a chance.

As someone else mentioned, the roach, although covered in mites, looks healthy. Maybe the T died and the roach was the culprit of the missing T? Mites just came along due to the decomposition. Idk

@@loganbaileytarantulabehavi1574 Indeed. They're still pets, and pets are not toys/items. They need care and check ups. I doubt this T got eaten in a day or 2...

My fossorial species hide away for weeks sometimes longer. But I always keep close tabs on them. And if I dont see them for longer than a few weeks I start spying on them in the early morning hrs. And if no dirt in a clean water dish after 1 week I rehouse them. Even if they dig down and cover the entrance of the burrow they still come out at night every week or so to drink and leave proof in the water dish. Wierd he had a T vanish. It takes a good amount of time for the T to be eaten down to nothing. I use a Ring doorbell camera and place it on the tank of any T that hasnt been seen in 2 weeks or so. That way it sends a message to my phone when movement is noticed. And if 3 weeks go by and nothing I do a rehousing.... Food for thought

@@Lulu-xl5cm he easily neglected the care of this T for a month or 2... Mite infestations like that don't happen over night either, not to that degree anyways.

They are controversial in the tarantula hobby 'cause some say they are predatory towards T's and some say they aren't... I had those mites (or really similar ones) and they would just move out eventually if I kept humidity to the water dish only and brought more sunlight and ventilation into the room...

But they were on the cockroach?

Bad news is: they are going to infest your whole house if you don't do something fast. They breed reeeeeeally fast... I noticed them in my room one day, the week after I would still find those mites around the house eventually

Yes completely possible, in fact highly likely, that they were drawn to a decaying corpse as with many insects. Very concerning that there's no remains, as the only explanations for it paint him in rather a poor light.

Maybe the mites came for her molt, stayed for the roach, and the spider managed to escape. He is pretty diligent to his T's and knows how they behave. This one liked to not be seen, so it's harder to keep track of the hiders. I'm going to hope the T escaped somehow and ran away....or the massive amount of mites devoured her until hardly anything was left...sad 😥 😔 😟

@@Dylan-bj3zy for there being no remains? That she escaped and he didn't notice is the only other explanation, which would be difficult for such a large animal. The enclosure would have been found open, which is highly unlikely to ever happen as spiders aren't stronger than magnets, and if they were then none of his enclosures would be fit for purpose. Which would mean he would need to have left it open and unattended and then not checked before closing it. Or as is far more likely, she was dead and eaten by the insects. Which means he would have been tossing in roaches and not checking that they had been eaten. If they are predatory mites like he suggests then this could have been developing for a month or two, maybe longer. That's a long time for a dead spider to go unnoticed and a lot of uneaten (by her) roaches. At the very least he should have noticed mites on the roaches and suspected there was an issue within a week or so. The problem with many of these pet RU-vidrs is that they have far more animals than any one person can reasonably care for and so neglect frequently happens. Even if you wouldn't see your spider roaming their enclosure, you would still check the enclosure for things like pests and mould, strange growths, and that the prey is being eaten even if you don't witness a takedown. You wouldn't just throw in prey and otherwise ignore them, which is what it looks like he has done for this to have happened, which means it's likely his whole collection is subjected to the same level of neglect. We already know that he rushes mating and has killed many males due to impatience and improper set up and lack of knowledge, and that despite a wealth of information in the comments, he continues to ignore it and make these really basic mistakes that cost the spiders their lives. At best it's very poor husbandry, and at worst he is knowingly harming these animals for views. Either way it doesn't look good for him.

@@mydogeatspuke thanks so much for the thorough answer, I really appreciate it. All of that is very unfortunate but makes sense sadly enough. He does leave their enclosures open frequently and walk away to do a couple things before returning. My son got me into this channel and although he's still very young, he pointed that out to me right away. I don't know how any one person could reasonably handle that many pets and have any time left over to do other things. The rushed breeding really shocked me to be honest, seeing that one killed by the female in his video a few days ago was hard to watch. I didn't like the fact that he basically knew things would go bad but he did it anyway without introducing them in a catch cup first or have something available to separate them as I've seen others do. All of these possibilities seem reasonable and as you said, none of them paint him in a good light.

Thats also my opinion, they look like those mites, that appear when there is a deceased food item in the enclosure. Those mites dont actually feed on their "host" but use it as a transport to other food sources. They also have it that they gather in the water dish. I think your T died and attracted them and their population exploded because of the huge amount of food.

Which is sad...because it suggests neglect...

Then how could you even think neglect?? We watch him feed and water the tarantulas, watch him rehouse them... Looks like he spoils them. Even the most careful keepers can end up with mites. A close friend of mine keeps snakes, loves em all and she still got mites.

But the tarantula was gone, so it's more worrying as they might have feed on the tarantula before they get to the roach because they have nothing to eat. It could be they just come out because they just finished eating the tarantula

I've found that the best way to keep them at bay is to keep the enclosures dry except for near the water dishes. And to also clean any insect remains immediately afterwards. Note: I do not have tarantulas.

I agree. It has been several times that I see that he is negligent with his pets, not only with tarantulas. The same thing happened with snake eggs and now that we realize that he does not pay much attention to his pets. Can we report that to any authority?

Right?? His enclosures are looking run down and dirty too I've noticed. He's never cleaned them and changed the substrate once unless he's had to due to something like the wood mites he also had a few months ago. He has too many animals. Dogs, cats, bunnies, snakes, beardie, and that's just what I've seen. He either needs help or less animals!

He did check on them, but when they are in their burrow it's best to leave them alone.

@@highq9039 Yes, because if you keep disturbing T's you will stress them out which will kill a lot more of them. I also very much doubt this T was killed by the mites, it's more likely it just died and that attracted the mites.

@@bubbleblow7461 visually checking them will not stress them out. And If he can’t visually see it after a week or two he should have checked to see where it was. And depending on how long the roach was in there and not being eaten should have warranted a search for the T to see where it was. Idk how long he said the roach was in there. But the T was obviously unseen for a long time for it to have died attracted the mites and then get consumed down to essential nothing. ☹️

Not necessarily. The mites can lay up to 1000 eggs sometimes more so they can explode fast. An most likely the t was dead then they started eating it

Mites are harmless to Ts most are and those who are harmful are rarely found and mostly found on wild caught/wild Ts

Thats how most hobbyists refer their Ts. Tarantulas are a hobby. All we basicly do is give them water and a bug once a week. So many have hundreds of them.
