Kirby, I'd really love to see a video where you discuss shoe maintenance outside polishing - especially what to look for in deciding to have shoes resoled! Part of the journey in these products is remembering that the cost of maintaining them is also substantial - particularly if you send it back to the original maker!

Hey, that turntable shot is great. It does a really good job of showing off the shoes. I'm generally a fan of the flair and camera shots you're introducing to the channel, but it's certainly the best when it also helps showcase the content.

Awesome collection! I enjoy hearing your advice on how to select your first pair. That advice really stands, I believe, for someone taking any step up the ladder of quality in shoes. To purchase something that will be the most wearable for an individual is the most important quality.

Great idea for a video Kirby. I particularly love the thought behind the seamless faux Adelaide, as well as the burgundy Baron de Rede models. Really amazing story on the Russian Raindeer, hoping to pickup a cardholder at Cleverley next time I'm in London. I think they are out of the material if I'm not mistaken.

Love your video’s, and the history of your bespoke attire, if you are a person who loves to dress in a certain style the day will come when u realize that off the rack is not for you anymore, it does cost to wear bespoke suit’s, ties, shirt’s, shoes but l refused to walk around looking like I just came from the neighborhood mall sporting clothes that wear mass produced. YOUR SHOES ARE A SIGN OF WHO U ARE!!!!!! THANK U KIRBY

Excellent video Kirby. I love my Cleverley Lopez shoes. They have the elastic sides which I agree are absolutely comfortable. So much so that I ordered some Churchills. I love your black whole cut with lazyman side. Truly elegant shoe.

Wow. Those Russian Reindeer leather, Norwegian split toe blucher/derby's...are absolutely divine. Sporting those around, would make any gentlemen feel like a million bucks. A nice pair of slacks, or dark jeans, with a plaid sport coat, fitted shirt, and a lovely pocket square, would get any little lass/gal's, heart thumping. Definitely date night material. Russian Reindeer derby's...so very dapper.

First of all, your videos are incredible Kirby. I like your work and it seems, that you are very passionated about it. I wonder how you can make a career out of a hobby like this. Is there any advice from you for starting something cool like the Hanger Project and in general that sort of career? By the way, awesome bespoke shoe collection. Mine are all in ostrich and custom cordswained: 1. Grey derbies. 2. Light blue, golden buckle loafers. 3. Green, arc-capped, single monks with gold buckles (I designed them myself). 4. Brown double monks with gold buckles. 5. Two-toned navy blue and burgundy red, wing tip-capped oxfords (I designed them myself). 6. Two-toned red and blue tassel loafers. I’m definitely a fan of the practicality of ostrich; no maintenance, polishing, worries about scuffing, and ostrich is far more durable than calf.

Black and brown cap toe oxfords are the only dress shoes I own. Some laceless shoes would be nice. If I ever find myself in London, I will pay George Cleverly a visit. Something similar to your Oxfords would be my choice. I like the Last on those.

I´ve had cleverley´s for almost 25 years now that still look and wear fantastic. As it could be no other way., as I was working in London at the time, my first pair happened to be a black wholecut that is still as new. Amazing quality shoes. I have lateley bought several RTW Kingsman´s. Why not a review on those? Just suggesting.

Dear Mr. Allison, since you show your George Cleverley shoes in this video but also showed other bespoke shoemakers before, I wanted to ask you, if there is an actual difference in the quality of craftsmanship among the famous bespoke houses such as Lobb, Cleverley, Fosters and Gaziano&Girling etc.? Dear Kirby, I read in an article that George Cleverley uses thinner sole than some other makers. Is this significantly thinner and therefore requires more frequent resoling? Are the shoes less comfortable than your Dimitri Gomez shoes for example? In other words, do I have to compromise in Comfort for the elegant George Cleverley look?

Kirby what's was your opinion on Cleverley RTW boots? I'm kind of stuck right now as I would like to try Cleverley but RTW quality-wise how do they compare to C&J handgrade which I mainly wear. Or would you say to pony up a couple of extra bucks and go for Edward Green, Gaziano or even Anthony Cleverley which I also have my eye on? Any advice would greatly be appreciated.

How many shoes total do you have in your collection, Kirby? And also, having seen your closet tour video, how do you store those shoes that are unable to fit in there? Storage? The shared family closet? I own over 75 pairs of shoes (dress, casual, and athletic...none hand made unfortunately lol) and am seeking inspiration for ideas.

If they have 3 pin holes then, surely, that is Peccary. Pigskin, per se, is a rather cheap leather which is fine for most casual shoes but Peccary is considered a much more desirable material. Peccary gloves are three times (at least) more expensive than pigskin. Great shoes. I love that chisel toe. 18:03 18:06

This is incredible! Thank you so much for sharing your collection with us. Surprising to hear that some clubs in London still have such strict dress codes. Looking at prince William and especially prince Harry, one might assume that traditions are being lost even in the U.K. If even the royal princes don't want to dress up anymore (for PR reasons I'm sure, to show how "approachable" they are), then what do you expect from the rest?

Countalma I assure you that neither of the princes step foot in any of their clubs without black shoes and a tie! But London is still very formal, especially when compared to the rest of the world.

Kirby Allison London is indeed still very formal, compared to the rest of the world. I was talking about their public image that seems to be evolving in the "casual" direction. They used to dress better when they were younger.

Well to be fair they usually only ask you to be in informal dress I.e jacket and tie or suit and tie! Black shoes work better on Asphalt visually than brown generally and are sharper! Real formal dress is like a morning suit or white tie in tails! It’s only really worth buying something like those if you regularly dine or go to events around the Queen or the music halls of Vienna! You’re still pretty informally dressed in those clubs in comparison although still put together and considered. I don’t think the younger Princes are all that into clothes as most of their suits are from Gieves RTW or MTM. They have a personal valet in any case so they probably don’t have to worry what they will wear on any occasion.

Of course the legendary Baron de Rede got his boyfriend to pay for his collection - it was part of the ‘deal’ between them. If I’m not mistaken, Kirby, the crease at the top of your right cap toe shoe indicates occasional non use of a shoe horn! The Adelaides are fabulous.

David Pielykh Cordovan is a great leather! Very particular. I consider it a speciality skin, so I’d consider having one or two pairs in cordovan.

Great collection, Kirby! While I've not entered the bespoke realm yet, I am convinced of the experience higher quality shoes offer. My only concern is that I live in an area with rather long winters (Tromsø, Norway) and I find it difficult to use my shoes as often as I want; the snow and concrete makes short work of my leather soles. My questions are thus: should I have my cobbler install rubber soles on my leather shoes? Should the next pair of shoes I buy already have rubber soles inserted? Can one go too far in protecting the shoes that quality suffers too greatly? I would like to protect my shoe soles but what is the best solution that protect the shoes and still retains the quality of proper dress shoes?

I’m also partially biased towards GC thanks to your videos on GC and their classically modern design without being too hip. However, I’m reading between the lines here that your journey with GC wasn’t necessarily a nice walk in the park, especially in the beginning. It’s a little disappointing to hear they messed up your first pair of loafers. The fact that they had to make many adjustments for your first pair is a bit off putting, especially that they just do just one fitting before final production. A master champion shoe maker like Daniel W goes through three fittings to get it right-I really like his thorough methodical approach. Granted, they charge almost twice as much for the first pair. I’ll check out GC, but I’m much smarter about bespoke shoes than two years ago, thanks to you. I may also try to find someone local in CA.

That doesn't follow i'm afraid. I have bespoke shoes from GC and GG. Both have had to adjust the shoes they made for me. Its a normal part of the bespoke process. Everything is cut so close to get the best support, sometimes its just a tiny bit tight and needs adjustment. Much better with second pair, as good as it gets with the third. It is also the case that once you start down the bespoke route tiny imperfections you tolerated before in your ready to wear days become much more noticeable and are no longer tolerated.

I look at this collection from the Italian tailored clothing tradition, and think how can this collection miss dark brown shoes - they are a must-have for any complete wardrobe.. but I guess this is a British thing.
