Was in the USAF in the 80s as a photographer. Mostly used the Nikon F2 and F3. Used the FM and later FM2 as a second camera. Used a the specific sportsfinder for the F2 when doing air-to-air while wearing a helmet. Had an F but that stayed wrapped up in a bag as a backup. 24mm, 55mm, 85mm, 180mm. Sometimes the 300 ED/IF. Minolta Flashmeter III (which also did incident, very accurate). Just about all of us had an Olympus XA for off duty personal stuff/sight-seeing and scrapbooking.

Back in high school in 1975, and up to about 1992 I had a Nikkormat FT2, FTN, 50mm f/1.4 AI, 24mm f/2.8 AI, 200mm f/4 Q, and a Nikonos II. I sold it all for good money before digital quality could compete with film quality. I went cameraless for about 10 years. I then acquired a Nikon Coolpix 5700 in about 2002, which I still use today because it takes great macro closeups. I also have a Nikon D750, 24-120mm AFS 4G, 35mm AFS 1.4G. I recently aquired a mint condition Nikkormat FT2 and FT3, along with mint condition Nikkor glass that I could not afford back in the day: 18mm f/4 AI, 24mm f/2.8 AI-S, 85mm f/1.4 AI-S, 105mm f/1.8 AI-S, 135mm f/2.0 AI-S, and 180mm f/2.8 AI-S lenses. I love the fact that these 40 year old lenses still work great on a Nikon D750. I am anxiously awaiting to put some Fuji color slide film through the Nikkormat's again.

Thanks for sharing your Nikon collection with us. I began using Nikon in the late 1960s. The Nikon F, F2, F3, and F4 were my working SLRs. The Nikon N70, N2000, and EM were my backup bodies. I owned and used two dozen Nikkor and Nikon F-mount lenses that ranged in focal length from 14mm to 1000mm. I also used four f/2.8 Nikkor zoom lenses that covered the 14 to 200mm focal length range. The Nikonos III with 35mm and 80mm lenses was my underwater camera. The Nikon LS35 AF with fixed 35mm f/2.8 lens was my compact point & shoot camera. I have no Nikon digital equipment because I purchased Fuji digital SLR and Fuji digital mirrorless cameras.

My girlfriend and I have been shooting Polaroid for the past 5 or so years. Recently I took up shooting 35mm film and I’ve already accrued a Nikon F3 and FA along with various AI-S lenses. She recently bought a modern Nikon D3400. A big part of our interest was due to your videos so thank you!

My favorite DSLR is the old D200. It has a 10 mpx CCD sensor in a pro-level body. I used it for work back in the day and the colors had an amazing pop to them. Only good up to 1600 iso, but the noise had a very random and pleasing grain effect. I just found one for $100 with less that 10,000 actuations. Also, really amazing external flash with the SB600. You could even use the pop-up flash as a wireless controller. I agree about the F80, my N80 is my go-to film camera. It has a cool trick with the SB50 Flash, you can use the pop up flash with a fold out diffuser and then use the main flash to bounce off the ceiling. I prefer the FE and FE2 to the FM series. I like using Aperture priority and I don't want to spend the $$ to buy an Fm3a. The N90s is a great less expensive alternative to the F100, still has 1/8000 shutter and uses AA batteries but will only set you back about $50 instead of $300.

Heck of a collection there, and I thought I had a lot....: Beginning in 1976 I started with the Nikon F2 Photomic S with the DP-2 meter prism borrowed from the older brothers to learn on. 1978 - 1984 Nikon FE (x4), still have three with 1.5 still working. I had a pair of MD-10 motor drives for when I was working on (photojournalist) assignments. 1995 I got the fully automated N90S, the last 35mm SLR I would need. 2004 I got a used D100 with MB-D100 battery grip. Just dusted it off today and now is my daily shooter w/o the v-grip. 2006 I got the D200 with the MB-D200 and that became my pro kit with the D100 as a backup. 2012-2022 I put away my Nikons and went Fujifilm X with six bodies and nine prime lenses, occasionally adapting nikkor glass. 2020 (nov.) Went back to Nikon with the Z5 and the FTZ adapter. Have not yet purchased a Z lens to this day. Still in the mirrorless cloud, But... 2022 (aug.) to Present day, Back to Nikon DSLRs with the addition of a brand new D850. 1978 -Present day, I have kept all my Nikons and nikkor lenses and still adding to the collection today. Have sights on other older DSLRs like the D700 and D610. I sometime but rarely still shoot 35mm film, mostly 120 medium format on my old Hasselblad V bodies, still process my own film but no longer have a printing darkroom, which is partly why I have a D850 and a 60mm D series micro lens for scanning.

During Covid I bought a lot of Nikon cameras, so now I have 9 bodies. All the F's from F to F6 and Fm2n, FE2, F100. A F100 is like 95% of a F6, so just as you are thinking, it's better to have 2 to 3 F100 bodies than one F6. My favorite Nikons are FM2n and F3. Lenses? I like my 105mm F2 DC that I bought a few weeks ago.

I love love love my copy of that 60mm D lens. It stays on my F4s and every shot that comes from it is superb.

My collection Nikon F2, F80,F100, FM10,D700. Love all of them and D700 is definitely worth getting. F100 is very good value and feels top of the line. Lenses. 50 1.4 AI, 50 1.4 AFD,50 1.8G, 60mm macro , 20 mm AFD, 35 f2 AFD So we do have a lot of common gear. Nikon system is definitely good value overall.

The Nikon N80 is so good. Very underated camera. Its the little brother of the F100. Build quality is not quite as good but i still love mine. So light and compact.

Funny thing, i recommanded you the F60 many months ago, on one of your videos. Because of this 1) way cheap 2) does all the basics 3) bright all glass pentaprism 4) AF from the F4 (yes). One AF point is enough. It works fine, even with with cheapskate, disposable 28-80 G Zoom (which i don't use - but good enough at F8-F11). Being a Nikon shooter since the F90, then upgraded to the F90x (F90s into the US).

I had a 5700. I loved that Nikon. My late husband gave it to me me for Anniversary/Christmas gift. I've lost it and can't afford another. Love all the ones you have.

In my collection of Nikons there is a Nikon F photomic, Nikon F2 + MD1/MB1, Nikon F3 + MD-4, Nikon FM, Nikon FM2n + MD-12, Nikon FE2 + MD-12 and a Nikon EM. I started to take pictures at the age of eleven in mid 70´s with an AGFA 6X9cm fold out from the 30´s. A good way to learn the basics.

Nice collection Lucy :-). Bought my first SLR in the 1980s, a Konica FC-1. In 2011 I got my first DSLR a Nikon D3000 and last year I bought a used D50 with three lenses. A 6MP camera with CCD Sensor. At the moment it is my favorite and she works great :-). Greetings from lower Bavaria,

My Favorite Nikon is the F2. Maybe that is because I owned a couple of them back in the 1970s, but more because of the way they feel. I don't really care which variation I have, though the F2 Photomic (non AI) is the most flexible working with any Nikon mount lenses other than the "G" series. I currently own 4 in various configurations.

My Nikon collection, as of summer 2024, include a Nikon 1 J2 in Pink, and the 10-30mm kit lens in pink. I bought it for the 1200fps slow-motion video capability. I used to have a D70, a D300, and a third one that I forgot what it was. Really, Anna? I forgot a camera that I owned? I sold my DSLR gear a few years back and switched over to M43 for the size and weight advantage. Haven't regretted it a single day.

I have been shooting Nikon for a looong time….well, probably well before you were born Lucy. I rarely sold on, in the film days, so I still use all these SLRs on the regular! Nikon F2S, Nikon F2A, Nikkormat EL, Nikkormat ELW, Nikon FA, Nikon FM2n, Nikon F5, Nikon F100, Nikon FM3a. Its a great legacy brand for film photography! In fact, I am taking two of these cameras on a vacation next week! Your younger generation creators got me back into film a few years ago, and I am ever so grateful. Nothing quite like it.

Fun post! It says a lot about the how many Nikon models are out there that I only have Nikons and we have no Nikons in common! (unless I missed it...). My small but mighty collection is an FE and and F3 body, with a handful of lenses - a Tamron 17mm, two 50mm (one Nikkor, one Nikon E-series), one Nikkor 55mm Micro, and a 75mm to 150mm E-series Zoom. I had a 28mm wide-angle that was sadly stolen. That FM2 and the FE probably feel the same in hand and I love the relative compactness and lightness (relative to the F3 which is not only an amazing camera, but a great murder weapon and door stopper because it weighs more that I do). I love the interchangeability, and in the F-series anyway, the reliability. I think of Nikon as like the Honda of cameras. I mean, you could go out and buy a BMW, but the Civic is where the smart money is :D

It's fun to see someone as obsessed with Nikon as I am with Pentax 😄 (although I've paired down my collection to *slightly* more reasonable amount). I know almost nothing about Nikon, so this was really useful actually. I have a Fujifilm s2 pro and Nikon d2x that was recently gifted to me that I am trying to kit out with decent lenses, so your recommendations are helpful!

I scored a 2001 Nikon Lite•Touch 140EZ at an antique shop for $15 and I love it. One of my favorite point & shoots. Great breakdown of all your Nikon gear🤘

Love my F4s. It’s a lovely blend of the old and the new. A camera for developed in a time of transition.

My Nikon collection is rather large, but I’ll keep it simple and list a few random faves: N80 for film, Coolpix P779 & P5100 for digital point and shoots, D90 for DSLR, and for lenses 28-105 Nikkor & my 60mm macro. I’ve got much more & have given away a lot of gear to students starting out in film these days. My freezer is full of outdated film, so I should thaw a roll out soon & use my N80 and take some multiple exposures.

..and greatness keeps coming. Outstanding.

nice collection there Lucy! I started off my SLR journey with an FM...simple, straight forward and pretty, than my first dslr d3100, then a d7200, then a d90, than the big day when my D750 arrived and I thought I was at the pinnacle. It still is my 'serious' camera to this day, but soon realised that I wanted to go smaller again....then a variety of fuji's (X100, XE1, X70...) made into my collection...love them for every day 'take with me' cameras and the curiosity hasn't stopped there..got my self an Olympus omd em5 last week and I am hooked, especially with the lenses available for the m4/3 system which don't brake the bank or my spine :), plus being weather resistant and having IBIS...and that's in a 12 year old model :), not to mention the affordable price now.....oh, and I forgot I also got the D200 for it's CCD sensor :)

Hey Lucy, as a Nikon shooter I love your video. My first Nikon was the Nikon FG when it just was released, and an FM2 shortly after. Btw, If you don't want to have the lever stick in your eye, try the F3HP. You will love the viewfinder, best there is, IMHO. My personal favorite. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the great work.

I picked up a Nikon FA, no case, no lens, no strap. All black, beautiful patina with the brass showing through. It was $90 and in great condition. The guy who advertised it online told me he bought it with a lot of other things from a deceased estate and was selling off what he didn't want.

Nikon FE series is a stellar camera to have. I am lusting for a Nikon FM3A

Great collection and very interesting to hear your uses for them. Personally I use a combination of F3 F5 FM3A and Z6. Your on the money with the idea that whilst gear at macro level shouldn’t matter on a micro or emotional level it does.

Your face while saying about Nikkormat's lens "It's not very good"..priceless.

Around the 1980 mark I used a Nikkormat a lot, i had a 55mm and a 135mm, i used it in regular life and I was on the school paper in junior high. My dad always used one and he bought one for me, it's a great camera, get yourself a good one you'll really Enjoy it, I've got a few of them.

My Nikon film camera collection -F3,FM2,F100,F5,NikonosV. My two digital cameras are the Nikon D500 and Z6. My most used camera is the Pentax 67ii and Nikon F3. Cheers.

I used a Nikon ActionTouch back in the day, it was so durable! Weatherproof and good for underwater down to a few meters.

I used to use a borrowed F100, and loved every second of it. I used to also have the Nikon FE, and one another that I forget the model type(possibly FA.) The last few years, however, I've been using a D3S which has been a fantastic workhorse for me. For lenses I've been rocking the 58mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and a 35mm f/1.4.

18:40 You can get very sharp zooms now (a lot of Nikon S lenses, or the Sigma 14-24mm f2.8), and even some sharp and fast zooms (like the Tamron 35-150mm F/2-2.8). Mirrorless opened up a bunch of ways to make really weird but sharp lenses.

My first film camera was the Orange L35 AW/AF and I absolutely fell in love with both Film and that Camera. Unfortunately, its waterlogged now.

Fun tour of some bodies I was only vaguely familiar with. I was sorry your F4 wasn't working because I am debating between that and an F3HP for my next purchase -- both are legends -- and I was interested to hear what you thought. My main film camera is an FM2 that I also love. But I recently started using an FE as well, and I really like the metering and focusing screen more than the FM2. May be something to look for in more vintage bodies.

I have an F3 that I received and it wasn't working. A mate took a run at it and it's really nice to use. I picked up a 20mm F2.8 lens for it recently and I'm really enjoying playing around with forced perspective with it. I have a 50 1.4 which is a nice walk around lens and a 135mm that I just don't really pick up as it's a bit too much zoom. Would like an 85 for portraits but that's a purchase down the line.

Great video - thank you! I love Nikons too, but TBH the reason I got into them (instead of Canon) is because they look so cool! (Shallow I know!) I had a F80 and I loved it. It's a cheaper and lighter F100 (but without the cred!) I got a D70 when it came out and I still love it. At some point all the rubber covering got super sticky, which was a bummer. But somehow, over time it went away! I also have a new (to me) D7000 which I am growing to know and love. The FM2 is the sexiest camera ever made IMO. On another note I have bought 2 digicams recently and I've realised they both have fungus inside the front lens element :( Keep up the great work!

Pulling out the advance lever on the FM2N turns on the meter. Maybe try changing the battery. Plus the FM2N has one of the best meters Nikon ever put in a camera. Very simple +/o/- bright readout in the side of the viewfinder in your peripheral vision. Also very accurate. It’s perfect to actually teach you exposure. Having started in photography in the late 1960s it interesting to hear Millennials discover film and comment on cameras I progressed through when they were the newest release. Replace your dead EL with a FE2. The FE2 was much more reliable from the start. For a FX digital, pick up a D700. Superb images and dirt cheap.

F3. You really should. It's a little older than F100, but ergonomically, even better. It's the one I grab most often.

I have to say that I disagree with your comments on the F80 (N80 here in the US). I have walked around with that camera more than any other and I have never accidentally pushed a button, changed modes, etc. Maybe it comes down to how you hold the camera, IDK, because this is an issue I have literally never had happen to me. I'd also like to say the F80/N80 is a very capable camera that does sooooo much and typically costs less than half of the F100/N100. I'd recommend it 5/5

Have you tried to clean the battery compartment on the F4? If not, take a cottonswab and dip it in 32% winegar and try to wipe of the leaked stuff. Then you clean of the winegar with a cottonswab dipped in water, and lastly wipe of again with a dry swab and leave the camera to dry with an open battery lid. I had great success with this method in a compactcamera.

I have an AF 85mm f1.8, 35 f2 D and 50 f1.4 D, all bought new and I totally agree with Lucy that they are wonderful lenses. The Nikon film camera I recommend is the F5. OK, its weight and size is daunting (and my favourite film SLR camera is the tiny and light Pentax MX) but the F5 shoots more keepers than any other camera I have. Plus paired with the 50mm f1.4 its autofocus nails it every time and I swear seems faster than kit that is 20 years younger. While I also use and love an F6 I have no doubt the F5 is Nikon's ultimate film camera.

Do try the d700, youll see why it is considered to be so special. Look also into the old Nikon-Fujifilm line, the Spro super ccd sensor line, theyre magical!

I have a fairly extensive Nikon collection starting with the early rangefinder versions from the 50s (competitor to the Contax and Leicas). My favorite is the F3 HP (High Point) because I wear glasses. However, the one I use for slides is the EM (girls camera) because it's super light and the full auto light meter is accurate. Plus, they are dirt cheap. The plastic housing "E" lenses are sharp and again, cheap.

That nostalgia for the beginner days of film is something I really relate to.The days of some drugstore film and 50mm 1.7 and taking bad photos without a care in the world. I sold my first camera, a Pentax MX, after it broke, and I forever regret it.

holding the camera "Matt style" is the best way to hold vertically. You cradle the lens with your left hand and brace both elbows against your body (one elbow is floating if you do it the other way). This greatly reduces camera shake. Or you can get something with a vertical grip like the F4

I won’t say that I am a Nikon collector. But, since about 1980, I have owned 11 Nikon SLRs, seven Nikon, DSLR’s, and a Nikonos. I am more of a collector of Nikon lenses, and then I buy cameras that the Nikon lenses will work on. I have about a dozen AI and AIS lenses. I have about an equal number of AF lenses and three AFS lenses. My current Nikon bodies are F3/T, FG., F4, D7000 and D810. I only buy Nikon DSLR’s that have an in-body focusing motor.

I didn't realise you had such a large collection of Nikon gear! I might have shared with you before in an earlier video that I nearly bought a Nikon F80. It was between the F80 and the Canon EOS30 that I eventually bought and still own. I can only use my left eye for anything so I found the Canon more comfortable to use. I spent a couple of hours in a camera shop trying them both out! I suspect in time I might have adapted to it... That started my Canon journey with three DSLRs and a point and shoot. But a couple of years ago I inherited a Nikon D300 (the APSC version of the D700, or very similar) It was quite a shock to the brain. But over a few months I eventually got to grips with the Nikon and the menus etc. I really enjoy using it now. I have a selection of lens for it as well which helps. I'm tempted to get a Nikon film SLR as well. But I don't do enough film photography to justify it really. It would be in the 'nice to have' category rather than essential. Nice video! I own a few different brands of cameras, but I've always been a "Nikon guy" at heart. When I was a teenager/young adult, I lusted after the F4s as seen in magazines and pro use at the time, but no way I would've been able to afford one. My first digital SLR was a Nikon D70, and i've owned a D200, D300 and D3s (still use the D3s for work sometimes). My first film Nikon was an FE that I shot many rolls through. I've collected quite a few others over the years that I still own and use regularly. I have an S2 rangefinder (currently dead), the original F (both black and chrome, and both with the small meterless prisms), F2 (also with the small meterless prism, currently loaded with film), F3, two F4s (one with the small grip, one with the medium/normal one.. i've had another two F4s die on me though, one was a massive shutter implosion on the second roll after I bought it, the other just bricked.. still have them for spare parts), F100, and FM2 (dead meter but still shoots fine), and of course multiple nice lenses to go with them. I'd love to eventually get the F5 and F6 to finish out the pro Fs, but that'll probably be a while, if ever. I have Leicas, but I think if I could only have one camera for the rest of my life, it'd be one of my Nikons.. which one, I don't know though, that'd be a hard choice, although, most likely the F4. You mentioned wanting a 28mm MF lens. When I bought my F3, there was an E series 28mm f/2.8 attached to it. It's a plastic lens, so I didn't think much of it and the E series is frowned on for the most part, but it turns out the 28 is actually the only one that people say is good. I don't shoot a lot of 28mm so i've never felt the need to upgrade, but when I use it, it seems perfectly fine to me. If you're looking for a budget lens, it might be worth looking into. They seem to go for between $50-80usd. I also just wanna note, you mentioned the F100 being plastic in the video. It's actually mostly a magnesium alloy, (the lightness could probably be confused for plastic), with the exception of the back door and rewind fork, which are the only larger parts made of plastic (aside from some knobs and stuff). Love your videos btw, keep it up!

I’m also a Nikon fan. I don’t have as many camera bodies as you, but I am close. LOL. A really great chunky zoom lens if the AF 24-85mm f/2.8-4D. I recently picked one up for $130 USD in excellent condition. My full camera collection includes - Point and shoot: L35AF2; Digicam: L18; Film SLR: FM, N60, N65; Digital SLR: D50, D300, D750; Mirrorless: Z fc, Z 5. Lenses include: AF-S 10-24mm DX, 16-35 f/4, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/4, 200-500 f/5.6, AF-S 20mm f/1.8, 35mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8; AF-D 24mm f/2.8, 35mm f/2, 50mm f/1.8, 28-80 f/3.5-5.6, 24-85 f/2.8-4; Z 28mm f/2.8, Z 40mm f/2, Z 16-50 DX, Z 24-200. I also have a Voigtlander 23mm manual focus Z mount lens for my Z fc and a Voightlander 35mm with an adapter that I use on my Z 5. Great video! I always look forward to your videos. I just started shooting Nikon in the past 3 years. I started on a Canon Rebel X after high school in 2002. I've had quite a few cameras since then, especially since making the jump to DSLRs on 2010. During that time, I had several Canon's and for a about a year I was on the Sony A-Mount platform. For the past 3 years, I've had a D7000, two D5600s and now main body, a D7200. I have the 24-120 lens on that and a 35mm prime. I also have an N80 that I want to get some more lenses for and start shooting when I'm out with the D7200. My collection doesn't seem that bad, in comparison. Great breakdown of your guys' collection.

Love watching your RU-vid posts! Good to know I'm not the only one with GAS haha Once upon a time, I had a Nikon FM2n. Lovely camera and beautiful photos but unfortunately the film advance lever kept poking me in the eye, so it got traded. I've an Olympus OM-1 and OM2n for film, a Nikon D60 for it's kodachrome film-like images (thanks to its CCD sensor) and a Nikon D750 for full frame stuff. I also have Canon G2 and G11 cameras which are not getting much use......

I started with a Nikkorex in 1966, Yup, I'm old! I then moved to an FTN while in the Army as it was cheap at the base exchange. I've been through several Nikon models since (N2020, D40 and D90) and have landed on the D850, D500 and my personal Favs, the D700 and D3s. I don't shoot film anymore. The D700 is a classic and I really enjoy shooting with it mainly with the 24-85 lens. I see no reason to go to the Z models but I do have a Fuji Xt-5. Love your videos.

When I shot analog, many years ago, I loved my F2 with AiS lenses. I couldn't ever make friends with the F3 and, when I switched to digital, I switched to Canon. But I ended up loving and using Fujifilm. The X-Pro1 is my farovite, albeit slow AF, but I love the sensor. My all-time favorites are the Pentax Spotmatic F and Leica M3. If I knew then what I now know, I'd never have sold them. Still love film, but it's become prohibitively expensive.

Nice collection. For film I have a nikomat el that is in need of new light seals. On the digital front it’s a D3000, a D80 and my latest acquisition, a D300. Not too many lenses, a couple of g series primes (35 and 50 1.8) a 70-210, and my favourite lens that I hardly use, a pre-AI 50mm f/2 manual lens.

You mentioned looking for a wide angle prime lens near the end of the video. Since you favor the AF-D series, I highly recommend the 20mm f2.8 D series lens. It has little to no distortion and as razor sharp. I pair it with my FA in manual and F100 in autofocus mode, and I will never part with it.

For Nikon manual focusing cameras, FM2, FM3a and F2as are my personal prefs. Love the useable low-light exposure display for low light situations on the first, the combination of fully mechanical and electronic overriding on the second while keeping a similar body and user experience than with the FE, FM series, and the F2as for its physical weight and feel and potency to change the way I photograph.

for the full frame Nikon DSLR: don't limit yourself to the D700! I have one, and I can testify it's incredible in almost every way, but there is also other Nikon full frames that could potentially get low enough in price and are GOOD. the ones to look out for imho: -D3 -D3S -D3X (those 3 might still be expensive, but a good deal on one can happen, they're getting old after all) -D600 / D610 (essentially the exact same camera) -D800 (can be pricey, but as it's going over 10 years old now some people are getting rid of them and selling them at discounted prices. Definitely worth a pickup, the sensor is really really good for fine art etc)

An awesome collection! And there are a lot of familiar models that have passed through my collection in the past! If you're looking for a good budget manual focus wide-angle lens, check out the AI Nikkor 28mm 1:3.5, yeah it's not an f/2.8, but you'll save some money, and it lacks the fall-off in the corners that you get with the f/2.8. I use one with my D750, FE, FE2 and Nikkormat FT2. And the G-Type lenses will work on cameras like your F4, but you're stuck with Program and Shutter priority mode.

I still own a Nikon F100. I pray for the day I can use it again. But I've always wanted to own the F6 with MB-40.

Nice collection of Nikon gear! I found a Nikon N(F)60 at a thrift store for $12 a few years back. They are great bargain cameras. I picked up a Nikon F100 about a year ago. Great camera! Very capable and well built. I would recommend the F100 to anyone. I think mine was about $300 with three lenses and a bag.

Good video. I'm still using my Nikon F3 that I bought in 1990. With motor drive.

If you want to overcome the annoyance of the advance leaver you can buy the MD-12 motor drive as this will let you use the camera with the advance leaver shut. An if you think the F4 is to heavy you should look at the FE or FE2 - the FE can still be picked up at a reasonable price. But since you have the F4s version (MB-21 grip) you should think of getting hold of a MB-20 grip since this reduces the number of AA batteries by 2 but reduces the FPs by 2. While I think the F4 is the most bang for your buck is the fact that the F4 is the only camera providing matrix metering and is able to use pre ai lenses - even the F6 cannot mount pre ai lenses.

By all means find an F5 or F6 if you can. The absolute pinnacle of Nikon 35mm film bodies. Just need to find a widow with no clue what those cameras are worth. :)

Concerning Nikon a F2 and a F3. Paired with the 28mm F2 and 85mm F1.8. Although not Nikon, I like the late 90s almost digital film cameras and as such own two Canon Eos 1n-RS bodies. Also paired with a 28mm F1.8 and 85mm F1.8.

For a wide lens, I would try the 28mm f/3.5 as they are inexpensive. The 2.8 versions are nice but pricey.

For the F4s, I would make sure that the contacts on the body are clean and I would try the Nikon MB20 to make the camera an F4. That would make it a lot smaller, too. It only takes 4 AA batteries so the maximum shooting speed is more like 3FPS but with film I'm taking one photo at a time anyway.

I use to have a Nikon M8008s and a Nikon N90s way back in the day. For lens I had the Nikon 35-105mm and Nikon 70-210mm. I use to own some Minolta auto gear also. As of right now I own two manual focus Minolta cameras and one Canon AE-1. Also I own a Minolta point and shoot with a zoom lens. I do own some really old cameras I don't even know what brands they are.

I do own the Coolpix 5700, the screen is tiny and the cameras response slow, however I do like the images it produces, when putting in a little effort great video overall, Nikon is my favorite brand

Nikon bodies D100, D300, D700, for Film my first camera FM2. I have a whole slug of lenses, but for low light I have a 50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8, 28mm f/2.8. Zooms 35-70mm f/2.8 (but it's a brick and I only use it if lighting is low) My main walking around lens is a 24-85mm f/2.8-4 it has a crazy macro which you can get up to 1 inch away from your subject. On the longer range side I use a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 a purely fair weather lens that needs plenty of light. Nice for using on the D100 or D300 where the crop factor pushes it up to 450mm lens. My most expensive lens is the 14mm f/2.8 but it weighs a ton and I'll only use it to shoot interiors... unless your shooting straight on the barrel distortion is crazy.

Nice collection. I still shoot with a Nikkormat FT3. and a Nikon F80 (my favorite user). I have gone retro with the digital no longer owning any modern cameras. I have a D50 a D200 and a D7000 on the way. I guess I am into cheapskate photography now. I was just playing with file from the D200 and was surprised a program called Image Size loaded on my iPad was able to turn that 10mp file into a 16mm file with zero visible degradation. I don’t need more.

Lucy - Good Video, however the gear that you mentioned is like your showing them the bad point like the 35mm Nikon AW1 or what is called here in the States the Action Touch I have that camera, and LOVE it, as I use it when doing street photo, as the Lens 35mm 2.8 is Sharp due to that I aim the camera in using the in the viewfinder the "C" brackets as a target site. Then you mentioned the Nikon EL, I have that too, as with the winder, and love the camera too, Alittle Noisy with the winder, but I love it, and FYI the battery is a PX28 Silver or Varta V28 Silver as it is still being made. Then when you mention the Nikkor Lenses the 43mm~86mm zoom, and the 24mm~50mm AF Nikkor, as I have these lenses and that is of a matter of a opinion, and as when you say do not get these lenses that you are going to get more comments as they will tell you that I have these lenses like me in which I have that lenses too for my F's, F2's, Nikkormat's, FM, FG, F100, and my D2Xs, and D3 Nikon, and those two lenses the 43~86mm zoom, and the AF Nikkor 24mm~50mm are both Tact Sharp. For me I did not like the F4, is not very DURABLE like the F3, and the F5, and it is too bulky, and heavier then my Nikon F with the original F36 Motor Drive. I also have the Fuji Digital S3Pro, and S5Pro as I use my manual & AF Nikkors on both bodies, as collecting Nikkor Lenses that I give the Alex's Lens, and Camera Body 10 point check list as I give the once over as I check the focusing, zooming, Aperture blades, see if their is no Oil on them, and then making sure that the lens elements are clean No Fungus or Mold, and then final check please a roll and see what comes out. If it does not meet my standards, then it goes back to the seller for a refund. I use to work at a Camera Store for 33 years, as I have both Rangefinder, and SLR to DSLR to Mirrorless models. Now I am now using Film SLR models from Germany from the late 1950's, as I fixed them up, and using film, and the lenses that I got are Carl Zeiss Jena line as I am very please. So Lucy do not tell people that in what you got is Bad, Let the photo individual decide, and test the camera gear. When I last went to Japan as I seen tourists looking at Used Film Cameras asking questions, and trying it out and let them decide in what they want to get, Sorry - Again good video, and that is my opinion.

The Canon G2 was my first digital camera and I still have it.

As much of an Olympus XA/XA2 point and shoot fan I am, I love my Nikon Action touch (L35AW). It's durable, well-made, and will give similar results to the one touch without all the issues associated with a one touch. I also find that because it is made for underwater, it also ends up being great at preventing aberrations. It's a bit bulky, and the focusing needle does not always work, but the actual auto focus has never missed AND the flash has still held up! I really can't complain. Thankfully I got mine before they started going for so much, but I would actually recommend it over the one touch if size isn't an issue. It will likely last you longer making the rising prices a bit more justified. I would compare my Nikon EM to an Olympus OM 10/OMG. It's cheap with a wide variety of lenses out there and it's a great starter camera. I got one with a 50mm lens for $40 in great condition.

The FM2, beyond offering the fully mechanical shutter, has a great internal light meter made from a + 0 - LEDs that make it useable even in low light situations.

Well, as for Nikon, I have 2 F60's (one black, the other silver), a Nikon F501, a D3000 and a W300 waterproof camera. I'd love to get hold of a F6 and a F3 HP. As for a point n shoot Nikon film camera, I'd like a 35Ti or 28Ti. As for all my other cameras....geez, where do I start?!! I'm a Minolta fan, but I also like Olympus and Pentax as well. Just bought a 100-300mm zoom for my (Minolta) Dynax 5Xi, recently. I want to grab a few primes for it and I have my eyes on a couple at present. But, I'm neither a camera or lens snob and if I like a camera I'll buy it no matter the brand.

The 28mm f/2.8 AI-S is a good one! I think Ali from OMTC has been using it on her D700 recently and liking it.

I have an f50, f60, and f65 that don’t get used any more because I picked up a f90x and a f100. Agree that the f100 is one of the best cameras I’ve ever used. It’s my second one and I love it. I don’t have any Nikon point and shoots, but I really want one. They’re just too expensive now. I have used the Olympus mju’s for years and they do ok (they’re way more expensive now than what they used to be😫). But I long for a 35ti (I used my friends one years ago and I’ve wanted one since). I also want an L35AF, but can never find them for anything under $350NZD 😭

What's the eye piece you have on the F100? I keep losing the original one and am on the hunt for something to replace mine
