Good info. One thing I like to carry in my bag is an inexpensive pair of kneepads, I find them to very helpful in rough terrain. They attach easily with a velcro strap or I just put one or both down on the ground when I'm kneeling. You can buy them just about anywhere, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, etc.

Great suggestions and something I have thought about adding to my kit as well!

I loved the tool tips and gear recommendations. I carry a multi-tool with pliers, knives, etc, that has saved me from digging in my car after trekking to the woods. Cables and elastic bands for all electronics in a carryon bag that can clip onto my photography backpack.

I usually keep a couple of rubber bands on the battery pack - just an easy way to store those. I have tried a few multi tools with pliers and I just find they are bigger than I need but the mini ones are crap... so I am still searching. What brand do you like?

@@photorectoby Hey Toby, The brand is Coleman, like the gas stoves, etc. It's made of top-grande stainless steel, it's very strong, and it has the cutting power of a Swiss knife. Of course, it is paired with many more tools than the Swiss knife.. It folds up to 3.75 inches by 1-inch by 1/2 inch. It does weigh less than just loose tools, but doesn't get used much unless I have a tripod that needs adjusting.

When travelling locally I always take a pair of pruning shears, a sealed little bag with some seeds and small binocular

I used the peak design capture for a few years but then fell in love with an L bracket which made it impossible to “capture.” Recently I picked up the 3 Legged Thing L-Bracket specifically made to work with capture. Only mine didn’t 😢 because the thumb screws on the Capture blocked the L-Bracket from going on… but a quick trip to the hardware store allowed me to snag some perfect hex head screws that are more flush. Not as easy to take off the clip but with that first tool, I’m able to do it easily. Gloves, I picked up rubber gloves at Costco and used them in Antarctica except when I was in the Zodiac where I layered a heavier glove on top. Best $13 I spent! I also keep hand warmer packs, alcohol wipes, and shower caps in my bag.

Nice work on getting the backet to work with Peak Design. I like the spider holster system and have at times modified various L brackets to work with that but they never really hung in a way that I liked.. so I mostly haven't used the system in awhile. Shower cap is a great OG suggestions.

Off topic Toby. A very cool black shirt you are wearing. Should have mentioned that? 😄

Loved the video and was glad to see that I'm at about 80% of your recommendations! One question: what bag were you carrying in the outdoor/rainjacket clip? You'd never believe this but I am still looking for the perfect bag! .

Hi Toby! Just wondering where those filter wrenches were when mine got stuck in Iceland??! BTW, once it got a little warmer, it came off pretty easily, so it's all good now.

Maybe it was that trip where I decided I needed to bring them with me on ALL trips :)

I always seem to sit in crying. Baby nothing like having a toddler sitting next to you and kicking you in the thighs repeatedly.
