I figured it out: Carl doesn't fall for trolls by mistake, he does it on purpose. He's trying to figure out how people fall for trolls and uses it to advance his own trollology skills.

I love how literally every single person is having a mental breakdown yet ryukar is just as mellow as always. The only thing better was DGRs SUPER blank expression when he won. . . but then moments past and you see it slowly and subtly turn into a smile, as if he didn't believe the victory screen at first.

I think this was the perfect amount of evil, actually. There's some legitimately frustrating parts (any part with permastun, and the actual antisoftlock), but there's also the anti-frustrations, "benevolent level creator" as you call it. And that's really the best part, is trying to figure out which sections are evil and which are benevolent. (I feel like I called some of the trolls- like the first fake anti-softlock after the "fail" being the correct path, but definitely fell for others.)

I played two versions of this level, back when it was first released, taken down, then revised/uploaded again. Not gonna lie, it's my favorite troll level I've played in quite a bit, due to the rollercoaster of emotions that is the final parts. Well played!!!

I've come to realize that Carl is basically the Yukihira of Mario Maker, makes these great levels for either training or enjoyment and then occasionally lets off steam by making the most awful levels and forces them on his friends lol

I'm amazed that he even had 3 different difficulties/versions of the anti-softlock, with more/less of a safe space on the top of the diagonal conveyor.
