amzn.to/2WoUZry Barb Wire Can also find it at Lowes, Home Depot or Tractor Supply (Amazon Associate link I make a small amount off your purchase from amazon.)
Take one of the strands of Barb wire run a low voltage through it hook it to a relay when the wire is cut you can have the relay flip open turn on a siren or a light in that area Small hidden solar panel for battery would be able to take care of the whole thing
@@shanek6582 It can be done many ways using many types of relays, simplest would be using an SPST normally open relay. 24v coil many possible voltages on the contact side. 24 volts from a transformer Edit( many other voltages can and are used but 24v is widely common) would go to one side of the coil, the common would return either thru the b-wire or a shielded wire wrapped around it that would be cut as well if the b-wire was cut the coil would de-energizer and close the contacts when power is removed from the coil, thus completing a separate circuit. That circuit could set off a single alarm, or multiples if wired in series. Other relays such as a 90-340 can control multiple circuits having 2 sets of N.O. and 2 sets of N.C. contacts. Two many examples for this HVAC guy to list but say instead of a siren, it triggers white lights to turn off, IR lights to turn on, and instead of a standard siren it turns on let the bodies hit the floor by disturbed, could also de-energizer a hot fence or make the fence hot, just takes imagination and basic 101 controls.
TANGELFOOT IS WHAT WE USE TO CALL IT WHEN YOU RUN WIRE IN RANDOM PATTERNS ON THE GROUND IN A FUNNELED POSITION AND THEN LET THE GRSS GORW UP SO IT CAN'T BE SEEN!!
In South Africa if you dont have burglar bars and high wals and spikes people will think you are insane. It not only acts as a visual deterrent but it could buy you a few seconds to get to your gun. This is a pretty cool setup for SHTF!
One alternative to the b-wire is wild thorned raspberry bushes: Won't raise eyebrows with your neighbors, but effective in establishing a barrier. Plus you can harvest them. I do see one issue with b-wire, fencing, or thorn bushes: an intruder can drive a vehicle over them. You would need a ditch or something before the fence that will prevent an intruder driving through. I don't think Caltrops would be effective since the vehicle will likely have enough momentum to crash through the fence before it is halted. Trees would probably work, if they get big enough. You have to plant them such that a vehicle cannot squeeze between the trees. Trees would also help obstruct outsiders from seeing your property. A thick groove of trees between the road & your homestead would help hide it.
Live in an apt with a field behind with homeless problem at one point I bought mini roses for the back fence excellent barrier. Going to add a couple more items intertwined
@@TheLocalOption I presume some that is making a raid on a homestead using a vehicle probably does care about it much, other than to close the distance quickly. The Vehicle is make be consider disposable. I would imagine there would be lots of abandoned vehicles everywhere. Might not even need fuel, the fence is downhill from the vehicle. Take it out of park, aim for the fence, and let it roll on its own. Just because something is a bad idea, does not mean people would do it anyway: Cocaine, Heroine, etc. If someone is really motivated, they will find a way. Hunger is a very powerful motivator.
Another great idea I've heard as an inconspicuous security fencing measure are thorn bushes. Like rose bushes with long thorns. Ya, it'll take time to grow, but once they are there, ain't nobody going through it. And you have some nice roses for the Mrs.
Maybe those would be good to divert people to areas where you have good visibility. You may not be able to see through those bushes, but I guess that is acceptable if no one is going through them.
Excellent topic I talked about improvised mats, rubble fill crib walls, and other improvised construction Methods to build protective structures with materials on hand or salvaged several years ago.
Well done or do it. Tesla did it. But that's not good either. Fry people with electricity. Warning to escape. But when hungry people came to the property and saw the pillars emitting a stream of lightning, they would quickly become full. Više o ovom izvornom tekstu
Am poor, grew up in foster care, no bad habits, prep the best I can. Am gonna sit back out of the way and watch the fall. I don't have enough for anyone to want.
I go out on trash day and always find old galvanized fencing, chicken wire, sometimes T Posts. Will buy barbed wire. You are an excellent logistics trainer. I learned much from this vid. Thanks, SP1.
Thank you for continuing to serve our people/country, especially on the home front in this case, with these very important videos of practical ways to protect ourselves and to stay safe.
"Great Upheaval is underway in the world, an Upheaval that will manifest itself in many ways-in the growing fragility and difficulty in nations’ economies; the declining resources of the world and the impact that that will have on nations and peoples everywhere; the natural disasters that will increase because humanity has changed the climate of the world; and the loss of food production and arable lands as humanity has squandered its natural inheritance. You are at the beginning of the Upheaval, and already you see it manifesting here and there and all around you. If you are paying attention, you will wonder what is happening to the world? Is this a world gone mad? You will feel that the stability of even your nation and the things you took for granted now are being questioned, and you will wonder how strong they really are? Nations are deeply in debt. They cannot afford to repair the damages, or to help other nations in significant ways. Every nation in the world is facing the Upheaval. There is no nation or tribe that is going to be victorious in the face of it. Everyone will have to face the Upheaval, as it unravels, and its many unforeseen consequences. If you are honest with yourself, and not simply projecting blame upon others, or trying to hide in your fantasies or distractions, you will begin to feel the changing world. And you will see perhaps-if your eyes are clear and your mind is still-you will see that you are entering a new kind of world, the new world. And in this new world there will be great disorder. Here you cannot simply project the assumptions of the past. Things are not going to work like they did before. You cannot rest assured that everything will turn out, or that you are in some kind of economic cycle alone, or that prosperity and growth will return. In places it will, temporarily. No, you are facing the Upheaval, the consequence of humanity’s misuse and overuse of the world for centuries, and the squandering of resources over war and conflict as if there was no thought of tomorrow, and the blind assumption that technology will solve all of these problems for you, giving you a wonderful, marvelous, miraculous future." This is a quote from *The Upheaval* - a teaching from the New Message from God. I think all of us need great help with the preparation for a new life.
@@Romin.777 The One God. The same one that initiated all the great world religions but which were corrupted by men over time. I invite you to explore The New Message from God, sent now by the Creator of all life to give humanity a chance to deal with the great changes coming over the horizon.
Also if a group goes in at one or two holes in your fence. When things go bad for them you may have them in an effective trap/kill zone. Don't run the wire tight, it's much harder to get free of a lose barb wire than a tight barb wire. Use a high and low wire in pairs.. That is one reason a tight fence is a good fence for your live stock.
Dave, I’m glad to hear you mention loose wire and high/low. Here’s why: Our boundary line has two strands of old barbed wire from previous owner, some so old it’s buried under dirt and leaves. Our new field fence now runs on the boundary line but I’ve been pulling up that barbed wire: keeping it loose and high/low.
several years ago while I was unloading a load of scrap while clearing our old farm, I found 20 plus good T posts in the scrap yard. After emptying trailer, I loaded the posts onto it. When they weighed me out, I got the posts for scrap value by weight. Keep your eyes open and you can find such stuff CHEAP.
"Tangle foot" behind the concertina wire with cleared ground between. Cleared ground before and after. Motion lighting as well. I learned this as USAF K9 Vietnam.
Check your local salvage yard for fencing supplies. Last winter I found thirty or so used and new T posts in the dumpers there, also a partial roll of barbed wire. ($16 for all). We rarely visit the salvage yard without finding a T post or two. This is also a great place to find supplies for trips and traps. I have collected and prepared (camouflaged) a few hundred pop cans to use as alarms on my fencing. We also watch out for old discarded swing sets and salvage the posts for fencing. We have even salvaged old rusty wire and posts from abandoned fence lines too. Its nearly impossible to detect rusty wire in knee high grass. I save all my used feed sacks as well. Also collect them from a local feed store. We probably have a 1000 or more. I plan to repurpose them as sand bags in my defensive positions ASHTF. BTW, the cheapest barbed wires are often the stickiest on the market. No need to spend more.
The last place I want to take a defensive position is in a house. It’s going to be me and my wife . I’m planning monofilament trip wires for early warning so we can escape being surrounded in a house. Then fight gorilla tactics
@@jimcalifwin3760 Get a load of the small polished type river stones and cut out a section at the top of each wall and then fill the wall with the stones. Put the small piece of drywall back in place , spackle the seam and repaint. You can then add a layer of porcelain tile on the wall to add a bit more protection . Make certain that the small stones are completely very dry . You could also make brick or stone wall about waist height , about 18 inches or so out from your outer walls and fill the most of it with river rock and have a few inches of dirt at the top where you plant some nice flowers or a row of roses . This would of course only protect the lower part of your room but you could at least lay down or kneel down .and be protected against most rounds .
I was thinking rose bushes have thorns from hell on them. All along your fence plant roses. Just leave one little area open for driving in and out. Dual purpose because bees ❤❤❤ them.
Bought a farm couple years ago and all the fences need redone. I have tons of short coils and runs of barb wire in a pile I was going to sent to the junk, glad I didn't! I'll be hanging onto those!
I spent 12 years as a fenceman, and in my opinion you are 100% correct. If you want to be serious as a heart attack? Top everything with razor wire (concertina wire) or even double (roll on each side). It's one of the most difficult fences to cut, and nothing short of nasty if you get caught up in it. If concertina wire isn't allowed in your area, 'no climb' chain link is good as well. The 'diamonds' on this wire are a fraction the size on a standard chain link. A six foot high fence of the stuff will give you plenty of security, and six feet is usually the limit cities allow. _It's the stuff they use around prisons, and as the name states, it's almost impossible to climb._
If it gets that bad let your grass get a little taller and put wire in it. Hand fishing hooks on fishing line from tree limbs. Put nails in wood and hope someone steps on it. I also save metal bed frames. These are great to trip someone on. You can even use rope tide between trees. Buy some bear traps. Chain them to a tree. If the SHTF and there is no law you will have to protect your family.
You can also use "natural" barbed wire. Blackberry, Bradford pear, cats claw, black locust strategically planted works BETTER than barbed wire. Long clippings of all the above ir whatever thorny tree or shrub piled up work well for YEARS if you keep adding to it. You want tanglefoot? Try honeysuckle vine!!!
This is what I have been thinking. Not to mention the benefits of blackberries and the unpleasant gift that keeps on giving-chiggers. How about kudzu? Not sure if I truly want to introduce that monster. Talk about invader!
Hey people with low budget "like me" think about stocking items with intrinsic value. Items that's you can barter. Items that will feed you clothe you and protect you. Salvation Army basket of clothes every week or so. Guns bullets gear. Lights and batteries. Long term food items. One of my favorites for starters is to go but a 50lb block of salt from Tractor supply. Bag it up and store dry. Also spend $20 on Ramen noodles every week or so. All this can be traded for things youre short on. Prepping is a lifestyle, it never ends. Thanks for the vid David.
Great idea brother….using the tangle wire method in grown up grassy areas or wooded areas. Definitely will slow the bad guys down and or deter! I would add that to main avenues of approach with the addition of EWD as well especially in areas I can not monitor easily! Another idea would is to add boards with nails laying on the ground nail up of course mixed in with the tangle wire trap!! You got me thinking!! Excellent tactic man!
Another good one. Any prep is just the starting point. Using that prep tactically is the first layer. The next step would be the standard operating procedure for encounters at your security points. You have to access the threat. Is it a single person just looking for a easy target or raiders skilled laying down fire while another makes a breach. Having the tools and supplies is the first step but once you mature in your prepping you start to see why channels like this one put a importance on planning. And it's important to keep in mind during a bad situation you may not be able to have good medical care. So weigh your options if a fire fight is worth it. Have a bug out bag handy if it's not so you are at least set up to move out and regroup and access what your next steps should be.
the last video talking about working with your neighborhood. thought provoking. my neighborhood is very diverse. my whole town for that matter. the idea of us working together was comically amusing. in the city unless you inhabit a area with people of similar values and economic status i could see coming together....economically divers areas people will probably clique up based on ethnicity/religion.
Also worth considering are may of the thorn bushes. Black Hawthorn a nice relatively safe bush to make a hedge. Or if you want to go all out Harty Orange you may want a fence to protect friendly passers by.
Rommel used a similar tactics to deny terrain to the allies. He used heavy gauge wire criss crossed in random patterns in open fields that were intended to shred gliders if they landed there.
"Tangle foot" wire goin in all directions...YEP! Coming across a well maintained 3 tight lines of barbwire could get through between wire 2 & 3 BUT coming across an area where it had NOT been maintained! EEEK! tangled up, rusty wire & rotted wooden posts on the ground with barbwire strung up on trees & through the creek bed...a nightmare! barb wire on the ground is worth two in the bush! think chaos not order. orderly is easy clippin.
I mixed climbing rose bushes planted in a high barb wire fence line and "decorative " boulders . The roses have climbed well over 8 feet an no one notices it is a barrier just a pretty fence.. Works well with grape vines also.
There is a difference in quality between barbed wire brands. "Gaucho" brand is cheap and fine for shtf but not great for animal containment the rest of the time.
I live in an apartment in the suburbs that has a balcony which faces out back. It has a clear + cleared (mostly) line of sight, but at the start of 2020 I went out back during the start of 2020 to really check out the property - what I can see or how my location is seen. From ground level and different vantage points. I was surprised how low my balcony seemed when looking at it from the ground. It wouldn't be a thing for a determined person to scale it. My focus was on rounding out other preps, but barb wire is definitely on my list to wrap around the rails and part way up the posts. I now wish I would have gotten it then since things are more expensive all around. I already have those smaller precut plywood that I use for out of the way shelving that could lay outside with nails up. Of course, this would only be a consideration in a NO-ONE-is-coming-to-save-you-there's-no-one-to-call scenario due to the sheer liability. I have lighting triggered by movement already that I take camping to place out on the balcony. While camping, I use it at person-trigger, not animal height facing away from other campsites, but at walk up level so I can see who is coming / or scare them away when/if it lights up in the middle of the night. I will be ordering that driveway sensor system in case using any lighting won't be the thing to do. Buying/using security film for the balcony windows/slider is a consideration, but a being burned out scares me on that count. So I've thought about maybe only on the top 2/3 that are readily exposed and the bottom 3rd would be breakable for escape. I wouldn't add it now only when/if the time comes. I am not trying to forfeit my security deposit 😉 Or maybe dark window film in case I have to peek out and see what's up. I have also considered having an extra Bluetooth trail cam or camera that I could mount outside somewhere in the dead of night leading up to things. I can't see anything from the front/parking lot side. That would probably be cheaper than a drone although that idea needs more research for its use-case viability. It may be cheaper to gift a friendly neighbor who faces the front a comms radio or it could just be a vetting tool in addition to camera placement. At least there are only 12 apartments and 7 of us here are more longtime tenants. One thing I have noted is that since access is free with no main entry door locks or buzzing system there would need to be a consensus/plan for access provided everyone is ultimately on the same page to secure ourselves. The 2 entry doors open out so the only thing I can think of is wrapping the V-closer hinges tight and having precut pieces of security film for the small 3 sidelight windows on either side of each door. No one, not even a kid, can fit through those things. But if someone breaks them from the outside it could pose a problem. All of our smoke alarms are also wired for power through the building. Getting extra battery powered ones for each floor at least is on the ASAP agenda. There's no telling what someone will be doing to stay warm while the rest of us are asleep. Maybe I need to create a handout sheet on the basics of a microclimate for when the internet goes down. 😬😆
Thanks for this information. Also realize if the grass has grown up around all that barbwire the person will just walk right into a nasty surprise. I appreciate the knowledge which this tax payer has paid for. I pray we never need to use it but the way things are going now...🙄
I have been building battery banks for years and I have accumulated so many sheets of steel. I save them and was thinking I could plate all my doors and windows if I ever needed to. I also use them for projects but I have so many saved that I can use it for anything
Where I’m from we are over run with cedar trees. A good axe will make as many posts as you need if you can’t/don’t have T-posts. They last decades too.
If you don't have barbed or c-wire then you can use regular wire, heavy fishing lb. test line, or rope. The objectives of tanglefoot are twofold: (1) to channel aggressors into a kill zone by them avoiding the tanglefoot, or (2) if they decide to go through the tanglefoot then it's to slow them down enough to more easily revoke their birth certificates.
Also if you have a position like that on the other side of the tanglefoot once you cross the main fence if you bury a 5 gallon bucket full of tannerite and nails and set up a marker where you can see from your side one round will blow a hole big enough to bury a car or flip a car completely over I've tried it it works 5 gallon bucket full of tannerite buried in the ground lit up one round with a truck parked on top it blew the truck completely in the air and on the top side
we have what we call black locust trees and the thorn is like four inches long fast growing and put thorns out on onset and they spread like crazy. Year ago they planted them to make fence post out of them I believe back in the Dust Bowl days to protect top soil I work a oil lease thats full of them seen them stuck in the sides of deer, cows, and me walking oil lines and the freaking hurt and I wear insulted thick carhart coveralls and a full helmet with shield when I have to walk lines have seeds if interested.
Tanglefoot is a great idea. Most likely would be a surprise attack. If you could set primer style sound tripwires. They may retreat and return another day or it could be used to funnel the attack towards wire and or tangled foot. Open to ideas.
